  1. There have been some major updates to pSX since you last used it Weirdy. For starters it is now able to read subcode data from discs as well as being able to play Audio CD tracks. Version 1.6 introduce subcode reading and 1.8 added CDDA support. 1.10 is now the first mutilingual version and there have been several fixes to the reverb emualtion. This means that the audio gliches in games like FFVII and FFIX have now been corrected.

More then a year ago I'm guessing that would be one of the first versions. Yes they did run slow but the latest versions run full speed for every game that I have tried that works on it. This emulator is a definate rival for ePSXe and may soon surpass it in every way.

Since the newer versions I have stopped using ePSXe altogether except for games that won't run on pSX yet and I am constantly testing my games on each new version to be able to add my findings to their compatibily thread on their forum (before someone else beats me too it that is).

  2. pSX is a Playstation emulator that has been in the works for some time now. The concept behind this emulator is to be easy to use by avoiding the use of plugins like most other popular Playstation emulators out there such as ePSXe. The author of this emulator has been accepting input from anyone willing to contribute their opinons on pSX's official forum.

The current version is 1.10 and you can download the latest versions here:

    http://psxemulator.gazaxian.com

There is also a link to the forum on the site as well.

    More info to come.

If its your antivirus saying it is then you must uninstall it and get a better antivirus program :D

Funny thing is I'm not running an AV program. :S

:) are you mad http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/index.adp <-- get it now

Your recomending AOL! I stopped using any of AOL's protection software since I got Spyware Doctor and found out I had over 1000 infections that AOL's spyware software or even Norton Antivirus wasn't detecting. Spyware Doctor is from the same makers of Spybot: Search and Destroy so I know that it's legit. Ever since I got it I've been a major sceptic about any of AOL's security features. My grandmother uses AOL on her laptop and everytime I run Spyware Doctor on it I get at least 100 results.

The fact that this antivirus progam is free is also making me a little uneasy about it. No good protection software is ever truly free as far as I'm concerned.

  4. As the title states I am working on a global vba-over.ini file that contains every single GBA game and it's appropriate settings. I already have a source for every game's serials and save types the only thing I am missing is information about the real-time clock (RTC) feature that some games use.

What I am asking is that if anyone knows any game(s) that use the RTC feature other then the Pokemon games please list them here so I can add this setting to the vba-over.ini file for that specific game. I know that there can't be that many games that use this feature so only list games that you are absolutely sure use the clock.

Also, I am trying to get an idea as to how many games have a tilt feature as I would also like to collect a complete list of tested "tilt patches" for these games. I already know about "WarioWare - Twisted!" and "Yoshi - Topsy-Turvy" and I already have working patches for these games but I know that these can't be the only ones.

Please only list games that have either the RTC or tilt features and not ones that don't. Don't forget to specify which feature(s) each game has and give an exact game title and if possible it's rom number (ex: 2485 - Pokemon Mystery Dungeon - Red Rescue Team). If a game is released in more the one country and has either of these feature in each country then try and list the rom number for each contry and it's alternat title if possible as it will be difficult to find each game when there are 2500+ roms for the GBA and the number is growing.

Once I am done making the vba-over.ini file and collecting all of the patches for the tilt games I will post them here and will continue to try and update them as much as possible. The vba-over.ini file I am making will include each and every official game listed in the no-intro dat files and will be organized by rom number for easy updating however I do plan on making an alphabetical version as well. There will be no difference in these two versions except the order the games are listed in the ini file. All other information will remain the same.

Thank you in advance and hopefully once I'm done with this noone will ever have problems saving in VBA again no matter what game your playing.

    [EDIT]

Also does anyone know how to tell if a game is using the save type EEPROM+sensor? My source site keeps showing EEPROM_V111, EEPROM_V120 and such and I can't tell which EEPROM setting to use for these games.

  5. I'm using a Sony VAIO right now that has a 200GB Maxtor SATA HD in it and a few weeks ago I was running a defrag on it and the computer reset on it's own. The defag was only at about 25% completed and the MFT got corrupted due to this. I spent the next four days with some data recovery software that I had backing up as much data as I could that wasn't completely lost or corrupted from the reset and trying to get the recovery software to run since I never burned any discs. Luckly my grandmother had a Sony laptop and I pulled some files off of and managed to finally get the recovery to run and then burned the recovery discs once it was up and running again. These Maxtor drives must not have a very long lifespan.

As for the tech guy saying that Dameon Tools is the cause, don't believe that bull. He's paid to tell you not to use curtain software and to try and get you to buy whatever he can from his company. That is why I never tell them about that kind of software so that they will tell me what is really wrong with my computer instead of twisting my arm making me do things that I know have nothing to do with my problem. I use Alcohol 120% with 4 virtual drives on my laptop and have never had any problems either.

Now, as for your problem it could be that your RAM might be failing. WoW is a memory hog as I have learned from experience. Try swaping out RAM chips and see if maybe that will fix your problem. If you have more then one RAM chip in your computer try running with just one or the other only and see if you have any problems with the individual chips. Yes, this could slow down your computer with only half the RAM it's use to so don't try playing WoW to test it. If you have problems with one chip and not the other then toss the problem chip and get a replacement. Also, there are several freeware RAM checking tools out there that you can use to be absolutly sure. I have one that boots and runs from a floppy disc and is OS independent. It boots up and runs the check until you tell it to stop. Then it reboots the computer after telling you to remove the disc. A simple, yet powerful tool. If I manage to find it again I'll see if I can send it to you. In the mean time try the check I mentioned above. Try using some simple programs that consumes a lot of memory like a hex editor or something. It would also be a good idea to start backing up your data just in case the problem is your hard drive.

Sorry for typing so much but I hope at least some of this helps.

  6. Oh yeah :). I have VTI but the only image that I have is for the TI-83 (I still don't remember where I got it from) which as I said above doen't seem to work with the latest version of my program that I created. It keeps giving me an error on and absolute value line that seems to work fine on my TI-83Plus. I did something different in the previous versions but this line is one of the improvements I made to minimize memory usage while still allowing the program to do what it's suppose to do as it eliminated the need for two other lines of code that were in previous versions. I've gotten to the point where there is only so much I can do to improve it now since programing on a TI is a bit limited. Maybe I can try making a "Lite" version by eliminating some text and other stuff that just makes the program look flashy for those that keep a lot of programs on their TI.

  7. Actually just like every other decent tcg yugioh is still alive and kicking. All though there still are more populer tcg's being played atm (like hero clix).

What!!! Now the comic book indistry is getting into tcgs! Sorry I hadn't hear of this until just now and did a quick google. I'm actually not into Yu-Gi-Oh! as much as I was in High School but I do have a friend that still is. I still have all of my cards though and I might go through them again one of these days if I can find other people that still play. I never was able to build me that "perfect" deck. Now I have way too many cards to be able to through in just one day.

Trying to stay more on topic, has anyone ever tried the TI emulators that are out there?

  8. Well, it's not exactly a game but more of a tool for the actual trading card game. If I could get a rom image for the TI emulator I have I might be able to recode it for newer models but for right now that's the only version I have a file for. I might consider releasing the code for those that don't have an 83Plus until I can get a rom for the other models.

    [EDIT]

Its a great idea  but Yu-Gi-Oh Dies a WHILE back dude. But it is a great idea, i used to use my TI-83 by putting 8000.8 and if i lost 1200 LP i would put -1200 and it would be 6800.8 but if i took away 2300 Lp away from my opponent, i would put -.23 and it would be 6800.57

It worked pretty well back in the day since it saved paper

    That is a nice trick.

  9. I thought I would post this here since the TI Graphing Calculator series has been known to have several games made for it and some models are also nearly perfectly emulated.

As this topics title states, I have designed a program for the TI-83Plus calculator that is capable of keeping track of muliple player's life points for the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card game. I began working on this program back in High School and have made a few updates to it since it's original version as well as added new features and different codeing methods to try and use as little memory as possible. I originally made the program so I wouldn't have to keep guessing what my life points were every time I dueled someone and I then began to share it with others. This was only the early versions of it however as I contiued to work on it for some time after I graduated.

I learned how to program on the TI calculators by examing the program sources I fould in my Algebra book. I would experiment with the code to see what would happen and quickly saw a way to make the code for the original version of my LP tracking program. It was full of gliches and mistakes however that I soon resolved by rewriting the program to make it a bit more stable and "idiot proof" thus creating the next version. I however was the only one that knew of this program and I didn't actually own a graphing calculator of my own at the time so I would use some "spare time" in Algebra class to use the school provided calculator to test my program in. I gained enough knowledge from doing this to be able to write and review the code on paper before actually entering it into the calculator making it much easier to see problems and pick out useless code.

I soon spread the word to others once I finally made a stable version that containd an actual menu that I learned to code in thanks to a program called "dragon" that also had a menu feature. This greatly improved stability and reduce the memory usage of the program allowing it to be stored on any calculator no matter how many "Apps" were on their calculator already.

Anyway, since High School there really hasn't been anyone for me to share my latest version with so I have decided to try to share it here.

The current version needs some polishing up and I will have to hunt down the code for it again but here it the list of features that are in it (as I recall that is):

    • ability to keep track of 2 (or more in other revisions) player's life points
    • simple menu for easy access to damage step calculations
    • quick review of life point lose/gain
    • special text that allows user to easily distiquish who's who
    • menu item to return to the LP display screen if skipped*

    *=new to current version

Now I know Yu-Gi-Oh! isn't exactly the big thing right now and hasn't been for some time now but I just thought I'd post this for anyone that might be interested. Also, don't critisise me for this either. Most programmers don't know the first thing about prgramming on a TI calculator and I happened to pick it up faster then HTML and I don't really know how to progam in anything else. I have found this to be a very useful program myself as you don't have to know any math to be able to use it (just to be able to make it). The program is disigned to do the math for you. All you have to do is enter ATK and DEF points in the correct menus and that's it. It will deduct the correct amount of life points from whichever player is suppose to loose them.

So far I have only tested the program on the TI-83 and TI-83Plus calculators. The latest version however will not work on the TI-83 for some reason so a TI-83Plus or TI-83Plus Silver Edition is required to use it. I have not yet bother to port it to any other models as I have no way of knowing if they will work yet.

If you are interest by all means feel free to post your comments or questions. Just please be constuctive and not rude.

  10. [in reference to the link in the first post]

I kind of get the camera idea...kind of....but what good is GPS going to be for video games? Spinter Cell might be cool (although I don't know what good GPS in going to do for it) but a Golf game? Who is going to go around playing golf on a handheld anyway? Come to think of it a lot of the games that I've heard about for most portable systems really are better off on a console since most people would rather thrash there enemy on a big screen in their living room as opposed to a 3-5" screen that you have to hold close to your face to be able to see anything.

Sony is really starting to loose their creativity fast. Who are they to believe that making a HD console is going to make a difference. All we gamers want are better, more original games. Not just a bunch of sequals that look better then the previous titles. We want game that are better then the previous titles. Am I right?

Also, these console designers seem to be so interested in new ways to incorperate new copy protection methods that it is making it harder for game makers to be able to make new games as well as for us gamers to enjoy the games that the game makers are making.

Nintendo seems to be the only company that has truly pushed the bar as to what gamers are truly looking for. Sure games may be limited but everyone has there preference.

Ok, I think I've ranted enough for one post. Some of the above may be exaggerated so don't take me too literally.

  11. Yeah I got this to be able to play Tomb Raider again. The only downside is it wouldn't play the audio tracks off the disc. The video card that it emulates only has 4MB of VRAM and can't be upgraded in any way. There are other issues that are preventing me from playing an old copy of Dragon's Lair on it as well. It did however run some really old DOS games that I had on an old CD. I can't be sure but I think the sound might be a little off on them but I haven't played them in years so...

I would suggest that you keep at least one of your old computers that has some good hardware to play games that won't play on XP and that might have trouble with Virtual PC. Like all of the other emulators out there this is in no way perfect but it's as close as you can get to the real thing. Seeing Windows 98 again sure did bring back memories...when my old games worked.

    [EDIT]

Even thought Virual PC saysy it will only run on Windows 2000 and XP Pro I have been able to use it on this XP Home computer I have. The insaller will complain but will continue to insall. That's what it did for me anyway.

  12. Well it may not have gotten much attention from others but it has curtainly sparked my attention. The issue though is compatiblity with older games and programs that aren't use to using multi thread/core processors to computer their data. Cost is also something to consider.

On a lighter note, if they keep this up then PS3 and Xbox 360 emulation just might be possible in the near future since I've read that the PS3 uses an 8-core processor (at least I think that's what I remember reading).

This is definately something I plan on keeping an eye on.

  13. The new PJ64 team has had a beta version out for some time that is only available to people that donate $10 or more to help fund the emulator and the site. I was wondering if anyone has gotten a copy of this beta and if so what kind of improvements have they made so far. I saw a screenshot on the site that showed Star Wars Rouge Squadron working but it was only the opening sequence.

  14. Well, I was going to ask why these emulator programmers are having so much trouble getting 3D graphics to work since there are working emulators for the N64 and PSX (as well as a somewhat working one for the PS2) and even one for the Gamecube but after reading that I think I understand now. Man, Nintendo really hates the emulation community don't they. That "hack" that the person is talking about in that link will probably only be a temporary solution though.

  15. I had so many things go right for once. Usually nothing does and I'm left feeling superstitious like most people do but yesterday I got up not even realizing what day it was and when I did I just shugged my shoulders and went about it like any other day. It was actually a much better day then most so I guess it really wasn't like any other day but at least nothing went bad.

  16. As everyone has been saying it is true that Dualis cannot run commercial games but I don't think that is darkangel's problem. It looks to me like he doesn't have the necessary AMR7 and AMR9 bios files for the emulator. I remember that this all of the DS emulators would crash on me before I got the bios files for them. Now they just showed a black screen for any incompatible rom.

Don't ask for the bios files however as this is against the forum rules to do so. If you search google you might get lucky but the NDS's bios files are very, very hard to find. Your best bet is to dump your own bios. I believe that there are topics here that tell you how but I'm not sure. Check around before asking though.

The main point however is that yes you should just buy your own DS (if you don't have one already) and the game to go with it. The NDS does not have a region lock-out feature so you can play games from other regions on it other then your own (if I'm not mistaken) without having to mod it or anything like that.

  17. If you are trying to get this emulator for commercial games don't bother. This emulator DOES NOT support them. Only one emulator does but it's RB flipping is reversed, it does not support much 3D and does not yet support sound (basiclly there isn't much point in getting it so don't ask what it is).

Do yourself a favor and buy a real DS and the games to go with it in the meantime until the emulators can be perfected. If I'm not mistaked the NDS does not have region lockout feature so you should be able to play imported games on it with no problem if that is your interest.

Also, if you are looking for a "free" program to handle compressed files get 7-Zip (http://www.7-zip.org). It is completly free and supports all popular compression formats including .zip and .rar files.

Next time you should use Google (http://www.google.com) to find what you're looking for before asking questions that can be answered by a simple search.

  18. I understand your new here but you should really check to see if someone is repying.

I would suggest that you try using a different emulator as well. ePSXe is a good one and next to that is pSX (although this one is catching up quickly). You should be able to use your existing mem card file without having to convert it since I believe both of these emulators support pretty much every mem card format. I'll try and find my copy of this game and see if it will work with these emulators for you.

    [EDIT]

I would also like to add that Metal Gear Solid has special copy protection on it that some emulators, like ePSXe, have trouble running without some sort of patch for the game. pSX is capable of running the game perfectly to a point as is right now but I don't think it can run it completely as there is a post on pSX's official forum where someone got to Phyco Mantic and the game locked on him. Here is a link to the actual topic:

    http://psxemulator.proboards54.com/index.c...read=1159763705

I did run the game myself but I only toyed around a bit in the menu. I didn't actually play any of the game. The only think I did notice when running it was an "eek!" message in the log window that opens with the emulator when the game started. It did cause a load delay but only by about 5 sec or so. Also, I have never played Metal Gear Solid myself I just read a bunch of things about it while looking up stuff about Playstation emulators when I first got into it even though I have had images of the game for years now. Of course this is nothing new for me to get a new game play it for 10 min or so and then shelf it for a long period of time before playing it again.

(Ok, Hal, no more rambling time for bed.)

  19. please help me,I am brazilian, and not understand nothing

Relax diguin, everyone here was once just like you (execept for maybe the "being from Brazil" part). We need to know exactly what you need help with though before we can help you out. I am going to assume that it has something to do with Playstation since you posted this question in this section.

You guys need to understand that we have many members here who's english is not that good and critising them is not going to get anyone anywhere. All that will accomplish is waisted posts and frustrated people who just want help. If you don't want to help him then don't post, plain and simple. I'm sure he knows his english is bad but at least he's trying. It's not his fault he's a n00b that's just how he is. It might also help if there was more of a variety of pinned topics for him to look at.
