  1. Yep, sorry about that but that is the only sure way to no longer have any more save problems after removing the patch. There is a way to fix the problem using your existing "corrupted" save file on my other topic but I have not tested it yet and it will only work if you remove the IPS patch and apply the vba-over.ini setting correctly.

  2. Also, it would be wise to make a new folder and put the games and etc in and don't bring save states with you, they revert the vba settings back to normal for some reason.

Does this mean you were trying to use save states? No wonder you were having problems. Anyway, to reset VBA without having to move anything all you have to do is delete the vba.ini file and the next time you open VBA it will have all of it's default settings.

  3. Drat! I can't belive everyone is farther then I am. Oh well I guess I'll get there eventually. I've been too busy with other things to play much in the last few days.

I suppose you do make a point Samurai Edge (although I wouldn't know what game your refering too as I never did play too many SNES games). I mostly like the game because of how it is revealing the story line. It makes me want to keep playing regardless of any "problems" it may or may not have (it just depends or your opinion).

I did progress some since my first post but I don't want to give away too much for those who haven't played it yet. I guess I kind of made this topic out of curiosity anyway (it will probably start to die out in the next week or so but oh well). I still recommend this game to Pokemon fans as it breaks out of the usual "Gotta' Catch 'em All" method of play and focuses on a different aspect of Pokemon all together (unless I'm missing something, a great change of pace from GAMEFREAK Inc. if this is true)(this topic is starting to turn into a personal review...maybe I should change the title).

Anyway, for those that have the game already, please feel free to post you progress and stats...and possibly your S.O.S. codes if you need help (now I'm getting somewhere with this). I'm sure there will be someone here that will be willing to rescue you from your peril in that "hard to beat" dungeon.

Take care, and enjoy the game...*opens VBA and loads rom* *wishes to own real game so he doesn't have to worry about computer crashing*.

  4. Well, I plan on getting the DS version and not the GBA one. Besides in name and part of gameplay, I want to know if the gameplay isdifferent on the DS version.

As for the story, interests me highly.

Well let me know if it is different when you get it. I have a rom of it but I can't get any of the DS emulators to play it :shootem:. If there is no difference (except for maybe graphics) then my guess is that the DS will display the dungeons map on a seperate screen instead of as an overlay like the GBA version. I know that there is a wireless feature in Blue Rescue Team that will allow you to request help from someone else if you "faint" in a dungeon. Both games have codes that you send to someone that works the same way as the wireless feature does. At least as far as I have read (about it being like the wireless feature that is). I might try searching for some screenshots on google or something later to find out more.

  5. Didn't get a chance to buy it yet. But going too, how is the game in general?

This game is like no other Pokemon game before. There is no special battle arenas to go to everytime you fight. The battles take place right where they happen. It's kind of like FFXI Online and WoW where you see your enemy and you can try and avoid it (that part's not so easy sometimes) or fight it. Also, everything is turn based (the enemy won't move unless you do, giving you time to react). As far the actual story, you play as yourself as usual but you have been transformed into a Pokemon. The story is slowly revealing itself for me but the suspense is killing me. I can't wait to find out what happens next. The rom is already out on the net is several locations although none of them can be found on google (yet) and I can't post any links. Since you are already planning on buying it I see no harm in saying this. If you do manage to find a copy of the rom then try it out. It will give a good head start no what you'll need to do when you get the real game.

My rating to far would be a 9/10 (always leaving room for improvement). This is however the best Pokemon game yet (in my opinion) and anyone that likes Pokemon should get it.

You can visit the official site at:

    http://www.pokemonmysterydungeon.com/

for more information and to get a jump start on the quiz that you have to take in the game.

  6. Think goodness I found this. I was about to post the save thing. I am on the Hades server and am a LV19 WAR right now. It has been a while since I've played though. I no longer have access to a computer that's good enough to run it but when I do I'll be spening a lot of time on it.

  7. What nerve...and after I thanked him for the DBZ info.

To everyone that is viewing this topic, be sure to check back often as I have been editing the above posts to add extra info and to correct some spelling or grammer mistakes (silly me :whistling:). Since this was my first topic and because I know that there are a lot of people still wanting to know how to get there games to save in VBA I have been checking back here often to check for replies and stuff. I have noticed the view count quickly going up almost every time I check it (now well over 3600 views).

I am also still interested in hearing from those of you who have been helped by this topic. You don't have to have a question, just let me know how much this topic has helped you and that will be good enough for me (it would also help to have someone other then me posting here).

    [uPDATE]

I have now posted my own "vba-over.ini" file on my homepage (note: there is no link to it on the site I'm just hosting the file there since I can't figure out how to add attachments to posts).

Click here to download the file if you are having trouble making your own. It only contains the Pokemon games (including Red Rescue Team) for right now since I'm guessing most of you that are this are doing so for these games. I may add more games to the file in the future but for now you can use it as a stepping stone and add more yourself when you download it. Hope this helps everyone coming here.

    [EDIT]

The link in this post is still active but due to possible bandwidth issues with the hosting site it is recommended that you use the one in post #16 on page 2.

  8. I wish I knew about this topic when I first joined 1emulation...oh well. Anyway welcome to all new members and anyone here needing help with Pokemon games is free to ask me for help. Not that I'm trying to steal anyone elses thunder but I do know for a fact that many of the admin and mod team members have read my topics in the "General Handheld" topic thread. These topics are here for you new members (and anyone that's just curious). Again welcome and enjoy your stay and 1emulation.com. I curtainly have so far.

  9. Since it has only been about a week since it's US release I was getting curious as to how far people have been able to get in the game in this short span of time. Now mostly I'm refering to the Red Rescue Team version since this is the one that I have (only the rom but soon the real thing).

These are my stats as of this post:

    Play Time: 4:42:40

    Adventures: 20

Pokemon I am: Machop (LV 15)

    Partner: Pikachu (LV 15)

    Friends: Magnemite (LV 6)

    Zigzagoon (LV 20)

    Ratatta (LV 3)

My current "story mission" involves me going to Mt. Thunder to save a Pokemon named Shifty from the Pokemon that captured him (if you've made it this far then you should know what Pokemon I'm talking about).

Anyway I'm just curious to see how many others have gotten this far (or farther). Now I know some of you got a copy of the J rom when it came out so unfortunatly this question does not apply to you. Only those that either managed to get a hold of the rom or have actual bought and play the game on a real GBA system should answer this question.

It doesn't matter what information you put about your adventure just post whatever you think is important.

  10. In order to get all of your games to show up in the list on PJ64 you must first put all of your roms in one folder on your hard drive. It doesn't matter if they are zipped or not PJ64 supports the zip format (but you probably already knew that). Ok, go to the File menu and select "Choose Rom Directory". Browse to the folder you put your roms in and choose "Open". Now, press F5 on your keyboard to refresh the list and all of your games should now be show.

...There I go again...I really need to read "every" post before posting.

  11. Good news to all you Pokemon fans. It would seem that someone has found a way to fix correpted save files that were made by using the IPS patch.

    http://www.dgemu.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=154481

This post says it all but I'm not sure if everyone will truly be able to understand what to do after reading it (it took me a couple of reads before I understood it) so I will post my own modified version of this "save fix" here.

How to fix you corrupted Pokemon saves.

Ok, the first step it to get a non-patched version of the game and perform either of the fixes that are discribed in the first post. The only thing you should NOT do is delete you save. If you took my advice in one of the above posts and back-up your old save then this is where it is going to pay off.

Some of you might have noticed that after applying one of my fix solutions and then saved your game again using the already corrupted save the games save file size increased to 128KB. Well that just so happens to be the first step of this solution. If you still have a corrupt save and the file size is 64KB then get a non-patched copy of whatever game the save is for (or better yet of all of the games) and then perform one of the fixes. After that, load your game using the corrupt save file (at this point if you have a good save from previously using the fixes discribed in this topic then back them up now as you will loose the save otherwise) and perform an in-game save. You should now have a save file that is 128KB in size.

Now, this is the tricky part. Close the game after saving and move the save file to another folder (one that you can browse to easily using an open file window). Make sure that there is no longer a save file for the game in whatever folder the save file usually auto-loads from and then load up your game again. At this point got to File->Import->Battery File and choose the save file that I just had you move. You will still get a "Corrupt Save" message but don't worry about it. Now, save the game again and reset the emulator. The save error message should no longer be displayed and a new save file should now be in your usual save directory with a file size of 128KB.

Now please note that all of this information is based on the original author's post in the provided link above and has in no way been tested by me. The author claims to have been able to play past the Elite Four in Emerald without any problems after using this save fix and for everyone elses sake that reads this, I hope he's right.

For those of you that are using save states...I'm not sure how exactly to go about helping you guys out. You might be able to do the same thing if you are using save states with the IPS patches but like I said I have not tested it and at this time I don't really have any way of testing this.

As usual I hope that every finds this information useful and please feel free to post your comments and "Thank You"s here.

    P.S. Who attacked me?!?

  12. I have seen that same logo when I tried to boot a PS2 CD game (took me a while to figure out why it wasn't working) on the pSX emulator. The only thing I can think of is that you are probably using images that were made with Nero or something like that and are not an actual 1:1 copy of whatever game your are trying to play. On the other hand you might want to make sure that you have the right region game for the console you are trying to play the games on.

  13. ePSXe can manage the memory card if you choose "Run BIOS" instead of "Run CD-ROM" but otherwise yes it will simply skip the bios and load the game. Also some playstation games will allow you to format your memory card form within the game so that you don't have to reset and use the BIOS memcard manager. A good example of this would be GT2.

  14. Thanks for the recognition Robert :D . Just doing my part to help out the emulation community :-) . Great job with the forum BTW :clapping: . Even though it is no longer the only gamer/emulation forum that I am a part of, it is the one that log on to the most often.

Also anyone viewing this topic should also take a look at this one:

    http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19489

It has more information about the IPS patches that are being distributed for the Pokemon games to help "correct" the save problems in these games. These do not work and I made this topic to try and explain why.

  15. SHARE THIS TOPIC!!!

I have been surfing to some of the other emulation forums out there on the internet and have been seeing all kinds of people that have been having the same issues that are caused by an incorrect flash memory size in the Pokemon games. The people repying to them don't seem to know what the problem is and most of them sound like they have never even played the game in VBA before. If you are a member of such a forum and see anyone that is having issues with any of the GBA Pokemon games then please direct them to this topic.

I am making this a seperate post because I need it to stand out from the other information above it. There are just too many people out there playing these roms that are not experiencing the real game. Please do them all a favor and share this information.

I am going to try and set up a web site so I can be able to use pictures and video and what not to give a more visual representation of these fixes. This however will take me some time to take the screenshots, record the videos, recompile all of the information and so on and so on, so it won't be up any time soon. Until then I hope that everyone that sees this will find it as useful as I hope everyone that has seen it has.

  16. I own 2 GBA SPs and I do not notice any difference in the emulator when it is running at 100% speed so if you are having problems make sure you have the latest version and tweak some of the video settings to see if there is any improvment.

I am running on a rather slow machine right now and was using OpenGL at first with the frame skip set to 0. The speed percentage was about 50-70% almost all the time. After changing the Video Render Mode to Direct3D and setting it for Bilinear it now runs at full speed all the time. Another factor that could cause it to seem slow is the frame skip. This is set at 2 by default. Set this to 0 and you should notice a big difference. Based on your PC's specs I would say that the frame skip may acctually be the real problem for you.

  17. As far as I know it shouldn't. The only IPS patches that I ever bother using would be for translation or for the motion senstive tilting games like Yoshi - Topsi Turvy. The only thing the Pokemon game's IPS patches do is bypass the flash memory check in the game and that is what is causing all of the problems (at least that is what I think they are doing).
