  1. I think Rx said the deadline he made for himself is March 15th.
  2. I feel the same way. Its pretty cool that it can launch those other emulators, but I prefer to keep the arcade and console emulators separate. I'm sure some people will love it, especially those running Xbox systems in cabs. If I had a setup like that, I'd just have CoinOps boot as soon as the thing were turned on. Maybe someday. Again, thanks for the release.
  3. Hey XBOX, I don't think he is taking offense, its just not something he is interested in developing. In the end, DOA is the one who has to put the hours in, not us. Its up to him how he wants to spend it. The sources are available, so if someone wants to develop it, the tools and materials are out there.
  4. Ha, no problem. It was just a suggestion. Its not something I would use, it just seemed like a logical progression to me. I prefer having XBMC as my dash for movies and whatnot.
  5. Xbox 1 - 300 gig Xbox 2 - 320 gig Xbox 3 - 320 gig Xbox 4 - 1000 gig (People kept giving me their old XBOXs they didn't want anymore!)
  6. Hey Frank, The MELD logos not bad, especially since it was pulled together in about an hour! However, if DOA ever decided to do this, I think simpler name would work better. For instance, Microsoft is launching "Game Room" which I think is a really good name and gets the point across quickly, even though its a pretty obvious choice. Again, its up to DOA if he wants to do it up or, as he said, if you want to take his sources and release your own, he'd fine with that too.
  7. Osman works. Just go into Setting and tab over to the virtual memory settings. Change it from 'Automatic' to 'Manual' but don't change any of the other sub-settings. For some reason, it works OK after that. Great game by the way.
  8. Haha, well, its going to be doing something very different, so I think its justified. I always liked the name CoinOps because its obviously an Arcade emulator and it was more fun than MAMEox. At this point, it might be smart to branch off into two different directions: 1 - CoinOps: Just arcade emulation. This would be good for people that want to keep it simple and leave their emulators separate. 2 - TBD Frontend: Multi-emulator launcher and dashboard replacement. Of course, I'm not the author, so these are just my suggestions.
  9. Rx, that wins disturbing quote of the day. DOA, since Coinops is become more of a launcher/frontend for all emulators, do you plan on rechristening it something other than CoinOps, since its moving beyond arcade games?
  10. Your right. At most, I've only offered suggestions. I'm not a programmer, but I'm also not going around being a critic of others work.
  11. I believe Xport did at the time, he acknowledges the original PC applications on his now outdated website. I don't know about the MAMEox team. I do know that it's good practice to get permission to use anyone's work on anything if possible, and to credit them when you do. Then I would recommend that you contact Xport and the MAMEox developers pronto and get on them to update their sites or whatever to be sure they credit everyone who created any source the emulators use. While your at it, don't you think that maybe the people that actually develop the arcade hardware should get props too? And lets not forget the game programmers. See what I'm getting at? We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before. Its how the human race advances. So you've never put out anything. Whatever. Until you do something worthwhile to contribute to the scene, then your criticism means nothing.
  12. OK, sounds good. Personally, I'd go with easy if it works. Thank you for looking into this.
  13. Like I said DOA, I'm not a programmer. All I can do it hexedit! Everything you are saying sound good to me. Primarily, I noticed distortion in games like Bionic Commando on my video monitor because it wasn't scaled exactly right. The fancy Xbox solution fixed my problem. If you can add maybe with preset resoutions that pop up when you select a game, that'd be awesome. For instance, lets say I launch Bionic Commando it would open a box like: > 256x224 > 512x448 (480p) > 768x672 (720p) I'm sure if that makes sense, but I think you'll get my point. Its getting late and I'm tired.
  14. Just curious, Iceman, what app have you provided the scene with? Also, if I recall, no version of MAME for the Xbox had HD support before DOA implemented. Just saying. Did Xport get permission from the authors he ported his emulators from? Did the people who ported MAMEox?
  15. Hi DOA, Yes, I agree. I'm not a coder myself, so I'm not 100% sure how to implement it. It would seem to me that you could either use the hex-edit option that he used and have 10 different XBEs with one "master" XBE that launches whichever one for the specific rom being selected. Or you could write some sort of CFG or INI file for each game telling it to set itself to a specific resolution. Again, I'm not sure how difficult any of this is. The MAWs database would help sorting out which roms are which. http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/
  16. The Xbox is already become a niche emulation platform sorry to say. I don't think there will be this flood of new users in the future. Maybe a few here and there. Everyone knows where these apps came from, they are ports from the PC. Personally, I don't even know who the original or current developers of MAME are. I don't think they've ever been credited in any MAME build on the Xbox that I've seen. Does DOA credit himself within the emu? I can't remember seeing it. I could be wrong though. I guess I don't see what the big deal is to have CoinOps launch a console emulator either. Its not much different in functionality than PC frontends and the people that develop those don't get crap for it. Personally, I don't need or want this added functionality, but I'm guessing some people would. DOA, did you get a chance to read my post regarding the custom resolutions?
  17. Hey DOA, Could you take a look at my post at the thread below regarding having a using CoinOps as a launcher for Cospefogo's various screen res options? Here is a link: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php...=31723&st=0 Please let me know if that's something that's even possible or that you'd be willing to do. Thanks!
  18. Wrong again. Let's take example: Street Fighter Alpha 3 4:3 as you can see. No one likes a know-it-all. Play nice. This article explains the 16:9/4:3 discrepancy: http://www.1up.com/do/blogEntry?publicUser...amp;bId=8987002
  19. there are other versions of coinops which had been hex-edited by another member which would launch certain games at their set resolution but it wasnt through the one interface. it was all through different verions which had been hex edited like i said,so basically you would have multiple versions of coinops with different saves. Right, I think that's what is explained in the guide. My idea would be to have an altered CoinOps that would launch those hex-edited XBEs. I think I read that CoinOps is basically a launcher. I could be totally wrong in that regard, but if this is the case, then it may work well. By the way, are those XBEs you mentioned available?
  20. Anybody have any thoughts on if my idea for a multi CoinOps XBE launcher would work?
  21. Just out of curiosity, would it be possible to make a "parent" CoinOps XBE launch that would in turn launch a custom CoinOps XBE for the game resolution? For instance: - CoinOps "parent" XBE is launch, full rom list is shown ect. - You scroll down to, lets say, Bionic Commando and select it - The "parent" CoinOps then tells a separate custom CoinOps 256x224 to launch itself and the rom at the correct resolution - You play your game with the custom resolution - Quitting the game takes you back to the parent "CoinOps" romlist This may be impossible or a lot of work, but I thought I would mention it as it would seem like an ideal way for the emulator to behave for some people. (Like me.) Thanks
  22. Hi Fumanchu, Could you please send me that file as well? Thank you!
  23. Hello, Just wanted to say I got my trackball working. It was a shoddy USB -> Xbox connector. Thanks again for the fantastic emulator!
  24. If people want a custom track, couldn't they just replace the file with another song and just keep the same name? People suggesting more menu options should pick up a book by John Meada called "The Laws of Simplicity"
  25. You're probably right. (I'm hoping you are, as its also the easiest solution.) I made my own adapter, so maybe something is miswired. I don't think so though, but who knows. Anyway, I'll be picking up an official adapter and I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. Thank you for investigating this for me! Talk soon
