  1. Right, the fact that it doesn't have a hard drive is why I never messed with it.

     

    You should try out the CPS1/CPS2/NeoGeo emulators on the PSP Slim. The newest version runs 99% of all the games at full speed, 60FPS. Its pretty impressive.

     

    Has anyone ever compared the performance of the Wii emulators to that of the Xbox? I never bothered to mess with them.

     

    It'll be nice to see where things go with emulation on the 360. I do think it will take a few years to mature, as the Xbox1 did.

     

    Fu did bring up a good point that the original Xbox was pretty easy to mod from the very beginning that added to its popularity. Its always possible that things will change in that regard with the 360.

    from what i can recall some of the wii emus are updates of existing gamecube emulators such as the snes emu,but they do use the newest cores unlike the xbox emus which are a older cores but still do the job just fine.

    i know that mame on wii does not run most of the games the xbox version of mame does,but mame on wii is still getting worked on and will improve.the advantage for us xbox users when it comes to arcade emulation is the fact that we can use VMM for the bigger arcade roms for example neogeo.

    but then again there is a neogeo emu on ds which runs pretty much full speed...how the hell they accomplished that i do not know.

    the main advantage we have with emulation on xbox is with playing games in hd,which obviously the wii cannot.

  3. Hello,

     

    I noticed one possible bug with CoinOps. I just played through Double Dragon. Right after I beat the final boss with the machine gun and his remaining henchmen ran to the exit, the game froze with a pink, blue, yellow and gray artifact pattern, similar to the sort that are displayed as an arcade game boots up.

     

    Has anyone encountered (or can they reproduce) this? If so, any fix available? The rom I'm using is from Showcase.

    I noticed this to. The game I used to test was Ms. Pac-Man. With that game, you can see that the dots are slightly different sizes in various areas of the game.

     

    As Cos noted, this doesn't happen if the vertical games are rotated if 'monitor onside mode' is disable.

    Sorry for this long delay in getting back with news, but

    I was flocked under heavy work all last week and also

    during this weekend.

     

    Man, I did some tests and everything looks right, but

    there is ONE ISSUE LEFT behind...

     

    When we do MOUNT SCREEN ON VERTICAL (please note,

    using that exclusive option for it) the pixel perfect

    stuff is broken. The games are slightly "squashed".

     

    If you want to see what I mean, check GREEN BERET.

    Turn the vertical screen ON and launch Green Beret.

    Insert coin. Wait for the intro screen where it shows

    the P.O.W. tied asking for help (this shows before

    the game begins...)

     

    PAUSE here.

     

    Check the ground. It is made by 1px per 1px pattern

    of black and green color. This is a perfect example where

    we can check if there are distortions or not... and you

    will see - it happens here.

     

     

    Also, please note, this is not related to the ROTATE VERTICAL

    GAMES. This option is superbly fine. No problems at all with it.

     

    If possible, take a look.

  6. I think PSX would be difficult to get working in COINOPS. For instance, it has to use multiple files right? A BIN and a CUE?

     

    Personally, I ended up just sticking with COINOPS for MAME. Its nice to have the option for the other console however for those that want a very basic setup. For instance, if I were going to give my nephews, 7 and 4 years old, an Xbox, I would put a copy of COINOPS on lockdown for them to use. This isn't happening though because I want them to play in the sun. ;)

     

     

     

    Just reading the PSX comments etc... I agreed it would be nice however, would only the users with CPU and Memory upgrades benifit?

     

    I played tekken 3 and Gran turismo and they seemed poor, Gran Turismo looked really grainy.

     

    Maybe I am using an old emulator for PSX, It would be nice if it runs well count me in to want to see it also.

     

    Maybe just release a beta of it for those who want it?

    I think your best bet would be to get ahold of Madmab and talk to him directly since he is working on this emulator currently. He is over at Xbox-Scene and AtariAge.

     

    He is very nice. Just do your homework first and make sure everything is coherent and organized before you contact him. Just my advice. ;)

    OK guys I been made some tests with the mednafen pce v5 emu and I discover the real flaw, in the "perfect cue system" is the way the emu use the CUE/TOC, I succed fixing the toc of Ranma ½ Datou, Ganso Musabetsu Kakutou-Ryuu! modifying some values of the zip archive in the pcetoc names now the end and cutscenes music plays, but there's still two videos with wrong sound yet, I have very limited knowledge about programing but I'm calling the developers here again IT ONLY NEED A LITTLE WORK OF A SKILLED PROGRAMER IN ORDER TO REACH PERFECTION please please someone, somebody, anyone, PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!     I worked with BP on the perfect pixel functionality and he is not a theif. No other emulator can do this functionality.

  11. These are all really great points. I've had similar issues myself when showing people how to use the emulators.

     

    I am happy as with my progress cba :) good to see concerned about my progress....maybe you should look at your own stuff with more concern I would for sure if I was you....

     

    im doing a best of made from many experienced people...alot of games I didnt know about...anyones free to make suggestions and join the team...but they need to know its a controlled process and to work with the project not against it or try and control it...if that happens we progress without you....its nothing personal as people think....ive found it easy to own others that think they can go it alone and I wish this wasnt the case but unfortantly ive never seen any proof that I should have let them control the show....maybe I should have seen there skills but I havent so im happy with things :) also the stats show they are so wrong anyways...but hey they think they are right so we will agree to disagree...lifes all good and im enjoying the fruits of my work...and everyday I enjoy it a little more

     

    ill give CBA a real world story of average people...

     

    I gave my cousin and xbox that I had been running xport stuff in sd on....he had an hd tv...

    his kids played it and when the screens to small...so I told them they have to change the TV

     

    LESSON LEARNED :: Assumption they have sd and hd tvs and wont swap is flawed...so fixed in CoinOPS

     

    then all the games where the wrong size

     

    LESSON LEARNED :: No automatic adjustments makes life hard when swapping ...so fixed in CoinOPS

     

    they asked how do I change the screensize

     

    LESSON LEARNED :: People dont want to understand the technical side and want to play games...so fixed in CoinOPS

     

    then they got lost in the emulator and asked where Mslugs where...I told them dummies they are CPS2 games you newbe

    Friends, I am totally A-MA-ZED with the results on the R7 & R8 version.

    The pixel perfect settings are A-TO-NI-SHING.

    Wait and you will see.

     

    Never, ever, a MAME emulator had such feature!!!!

    And better ----- right out off the box!

     

    Install, and TADÁ!

    Its there.

    I think we should shoot for 608. I believe that's the standard width for SDTV.

    At least on FBA-XXX configuration screen, I was able to have a perfect

    screen with the 576 value on width (2X of course)

     

    If 384, then goes back to 288.

    Or doubled: 768 goes back to 576.

     

    I know that is resizes down a bit, but we should test it.

    In FBA-XXX it did work.

    The best 20% is a number different from that one we made tests that night.

    I performed some experiences with FBA (that permits the screen adjustments)

    on the fly and with the game running on BG and got a better result.

     

    Just did not take note of the exact number.

    I will find it again and post later tonight yet.

    I may someday get an upgraded XBOX. You'll be the first to know if I do. :)

     

    it will impact performace alot of games wont work :) whicj is why I havent looked at the feature...I may add all filters soon though for the owners of xboxs with more ram and cpu speed....but it will come with a warning
  18. Ah, OK. No worries.

     

    I was hoping that we'd be able to somehow make a scanline PNG (one for 480p, one for 720p) set it to 50% opacity and have it just overlay on top of the image being displayed.

     

    If this is going to impact performance though, its not a good thing.

    I wont be adding scanlines at present as its a distortion..... maybe sometime ill look at filters but theres many issues with them speed and mem wise and some games are right down to the wire in 720p now

    Ya, some people love scanlines, some hate them. I guess you're in the later group. :)

     

    I wasn't opting for the CRT effects. As I stated above, those filters replicate cheap, old CRTs in my opinion, not the top of the line (or even middle of the road) models that I prefer.

     

    Would you consider adding a scanline option for those of us that do prefer them? It would be 'off' by default of course and could reside in the hidden advance section of settings. I think some people would really love the feature.

     

    I'm going to take a look at the GUI tonight and get some notes together for you. I also want to work up a skin, but I won't be able to start until sometime next week due to the holiday this weekend.

    im not adding scan lines its easy to do but looks bad to me...or crt effects....why add distortion when you asked for pixel perfect.....wierd you guys want it perfect then you want it distorted :P
