Well it looks like i have stumbled upon another error (error 12 to be specific). I'm not really sure how this one happened. I brought my xbox over to a friend's house to play it and everything was normal. After that, I brought it home and hooked it up and the error message popped up. From what I understand, this has something to do w/ the dvd ide (sp?) cable or w/ the dvd drive itself (I've never had any problems w/ the dvd drive as of yet). So what do you guys suggest???? I've already invested a lot of time into getting this thing working how I wanted to, and I don't want to let it go. Thanks!

You're right. I found the "right stuff", it had all of the files already selected. I just played a little of "Full Throttle" and it rocked!!! That emulator works so well!
-
How do I play the .cue and .bin files? I tried to make them into an iso and put them on the hard drive but scummvm couldn't see them. Nor could it see the .bin or .cue files. Any ideas? Ben

Ok, well that makes a lot more sense. I guess if I want the screen shots, I've got to pull them from coinops gold?
-
I've tried both Coinops and Coinops gold and I am unable to access the advanced settings - so that I can switch the emulator to run in hd (720P). I've gone into the settings menu, but I've found nothing w/ regards to advanced settings. I've held the right trigger and the right analog stick...still nothing. I know I'm obviously missing something. Thanks for the help.

Best way to make XBMC my default dash
Emu Newbie replied to Emu Newbie's topic in XBOX Hacks [/xbox]
Just an update - this is what worked for me I have a 1.6 xbox and i used 2 programs on my computer to make an iso (I had to make an iso, b/c my snes emulator wouldn't just read from a data disk). I used Qwix101 to make the iso (just put all the rom folders in one folder and select that folder in qwix to make the iso). I then used DVD decrypter to burn the iso onto a dvd - I wrote the disc at a speed of 2x, and I had the verify box checked on the program. I used a sony DVD-r w/ accu-core (not really sure if that matters). Now I have a dvd that doesn't boot to anything when the xbox is turned on. I can access the files from my NES, GENESIS, SNES, and GAMEBOY emulators. I threw some N64 roms on there (to free up some HDD space), but I have yet to figure out how to reconfigure surreal xxx's pathway for rom searching. -

Good idea, I'll give it a try w/ a CD-RW, then if it works I'll go pick up some sony DVD-R's (I know these work on my xbox, b/c this is what my BAED disc is burned on) -

Just to make sure. Can I just burn a DVD as a data disk? Or do I need to make all of my folders/files into an iso and burn them? I was thinking that as long as I burn the files onto a dvd that the x-box can recognize then it should be able to read from them. I already have a bunch of Neo-Geo roms and N64 roms on my hdd (and those are eating up quite a bit of space). This is why I would prefer to place all of the other roms (i.e. nes, snes, genesis, etc.) on a DVD, just so that I would have the extra space for extra emulators and so on. Thanks. Ben -

Or maybe I could just make a DVD data disk that wouldn't autorun (it could just hold the roms). -

Yea, I guess I'll just hit the eject button to turn my xbox on and then shut it after xbmc dashboard has opened. I was just wondering - just so that I could be even more lazy. -
Best way to make XBMC my default dash

I've got a question about auto-run. I have a BAED disk, that I no longer use to emulate (i just use it to host the roms - I installed the emulators on my hdd). If the disk is in my console, my console will boot up the disk, instead of xbmc. I've gone into the settings for XBMC and turned off every auto-run feature (dvd, game, etc.), but the disc still auto-runs if it is in the disk drive when I power up the console. Is there something else I can do to stop the BAED disk from auto-running upon start-up? Thanks Ben -

I used AID v4.4 and was able to get it to work. Interestingly enough, I was only able to get the xbox to read the iso burnt onto a CD-RW, and not a DVD+R, that I tried earlier. Now that I have xbmc in my E drive and running as the primary dashboard, couldn't I go and remove it from the applications folder (to save some hdd space)? Ben -

To answer a previously asked question - no I don't just have a "dashboard" folder. I guess I will try the AID disc (i already downloaded the torrent and made an iso). If I can't get this to work, i guess I'll copy the xbmc folder over to where the evoxdash.xbe file is. Thanks guys. I'll be sure to try out the new skins too. Ben -
Hi, I got my softmod up and running again (just had to go pick up a copy of splinter cell at my local gamestop). Anyways, I'm not back where I left off. I want to make xbmc my default dashboard (instead of unleash x). This is what I have tried so far. Under my E drive, there is a file named evoxdash.xbe . I replaced this file w/ the xbmc default.xbe and named it accordingly. When doing this and rebooting the xbox, this is what the screen says... XBMC fatal error T:\guisettings.xml, Line 0 failed to open file IP address... # Anyways, I feel that I am on the right track, I guess I need to move another file over to the E drive folder? Let me know. Thanks again for all the support! Ben

What is the eeprom?

I found the linux profille save under splinter cell (there were two others a long w/ that one). I also found SID 5 installer saved on my hdd. I guess I'm gonna search for the original splinter cell at local gamestop. I'm glad the guy actually moved the files from the memory card to the hdd. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Ben

I just had an idea. Since the guy I bought this from did the soft mod w/ splinter cell. Could I just buy splinter cell, then go to load then load the files that I found on my harddrive that are splinter cell related (presumably the ones that he transferred from his action replay card to my xbox)?

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD NEWS!!!! I put in a newer game and told the xbox to do an update so that I could play on xbox live. After the update was finished I turned off the xbox and turned it back on. Now I can boot to the M$ xbox dash!!!!! Now what do i do? I tryied to access the xbox through ftp, but this didn't do anything.
-
Alrighty, I don't think my guy is gonna pull through. I tried the cold boot thing and it didn't really work (the screen went black and nothing happened, the first time). After that, I just didn't do anything (it went to the error screen as normal). Could you post some links to those specific youtube videos you were referring to? I found one youtube video, and it involves actually taking the xbox a part (which I do not want to do). If worse comes to worse, I may just have to get a copy of splinter cell and all the action replay stuff. Is there anyone willing to ship me their memory card w/ the linux os on it (or at least sell it to me). I just want to reflash this thing I'll be done w/ the card. Thanks. Ben

well it is a 1.6 xbox! Thank you so much for the offer, you are very generous. Luckily I was able to get in contact w/ the guy i bought the xbox from. I'll let you know if something comes up though. Thanks again to everyone that has helped. This is really a great community you guys have here at 1emulation. Thanks again. I'll keep you all updated. Ben

No the BAED doesn't work. This stinks cause I bought this xbox b/c I didn't want to actually fool w/ the initial soft modding itself. I hope I can contact the guy I bought it from and see if he will re-softmod it. Is there anyway that I will be able to keep some of the files that I added to the xbox's hard drive? Thanks for all the help.

Yea I know I messed up. I was able to run a real xbox game...should I try the AID disk now?
-
BTW it is error 21
-
well I must have really messed up. I did what you guys said, found the default.xbe for the current dashboard (I found it on the E drive), tried replacing it w/ the xbmc one that I found under applications. Changed the names, then rebooted, then a black screen came up saying it some trouble w/ xbmc log or something like that. So i reversed what I did w/ my ftp client, and everything was fixed. So I kept searching for the .xbe file that when I clicked it, would take me to xunleash (like the xbox does when I turn it on). I found one under the C drive in a folder SID5 and did the same thing that I did before (renamed the standard, which was default.xbe to defaultold.xbe) and moved the new one into that folder. Rebooted, but now all I get is a screen that pops up saying i need to fix the xbox, and now I can't connect w/ my ftp client to fix the problem I created. Now what?

I just tried out XBMC and I absolutely love it (it works so much better than unleash x. Now I have a new question though. How do I make XBMC my default dashboard (instead of unleash x)? Thanks a ton!!!! Ben
