  1. Sounds great man. Let me know.

It took me about a week to do all of that. I stand behind the findings 100%, except there are some games that people may decide that run slower than the actual machine that I didn't list here. Many of those games I've never played originally, and some things I just didn't get to test for when I'm trying to test about 1,000 roms in such a short time.

I've also added what you need to do to "fix" some non-working games in the notes column.

If you've got anything to add or know how to fix games, just let me know. I know for a fact that people have working versions of the Metal Slug 5 parent, but I've heard that mine is missing "M1" information that the FBL 1.3 datfile doesn't look for. I'm sure there are probably a few others like that... possibly the "FBL Encountered a Problem" errors.

Hope to get a few more of these working here. Thanks to anyone in advance who takes the time to help figure these out.

  2. Your stuff probably wasn't deleted. Megaupload and most of the filesharing sites have been kinda flakey recenly. If it doesn't work one day, it will work another..... unless it told you that they deleted it.

  3. Here's my favorite's list for FBL with the file names cleaned up (No brackets or any info other than the correctly formatted and capitalized game name): http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5Q0RANBD

This is just a preliminary list of 787 games out of 2,201 taken from the parents of the full FBL 1.3 set. I believe I've removed all porn games, all mahjong and other japan text heavy games like quiz games, tech demos and other garbage. No Genesis games are included in this list, nor will I have any interest in adding any of them, so please don't ask.

All I need now is some people to help test these games on my list and let me know if any of them are not working. If a game is not working, I will test if one of the clones work instead. If not, it will be removed.

    Thanks for volunteering in advance!

Here is a spreadsheet I'm making to keep track of which parents work, and which games we still need videos for:

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=tjC...amp;output=html

Currently, we're only missing 12 of the videos, assuming that I haven't missed any good games that people point out to me.

If you'd like to help test, PM me your email address and you can let us know in the spreadsheets which games you played that worked. Also, let me know if I left in any text heavy unplayable games, and let me know if there are still porn games in there since the filter isn't 100% correct and I've pulled out a few of them by hand already.

You don't even have to sign up for the spreadsheet to tell me a game I missed, or why you feel a clone is better than the parent. Just let me know here.

    Thanks!!!!!

  4. Thanks to ressurectionx and run088 for there help....I had stuff going but they made it poss to add all 2000 odd games with little effort and I would have only done the top 100 of each system...so cheers

Thanks for the props man. Also thanks to the rest of the Xtras team for getting all the videos put together, and emumovies for a large portion of those vids.

Run's done an amazing job on his own converting everything. I'd like to know how large this collection is looking when you guys get what you want in there.

I'll be releasing quite a few more games in the sets coming out soon. There should be a lot more games for you guys to add then if you're interested.

I've got the beta. I'll let you know what I think when I get a chance to try it out.

  5. I'm just trying to say that instead of going to a different web page for years and any other game info, you could just find somebody who could scrape that data from my synopsis and have it formatted the way you guys need it. It should be easier to pull that info from several documents instead of a billion web pages.

  6. You guys should find somebody who could scrape any info you need from my synopsis.

I've already collected all this info and it's all in one doc. All you need is somebody who can write a little bit of code and this will be easy for ya.

  7. yes that was just an old dat...but now coinops supports 4 times as many games as it did a month ago

it was my creation but theres also the 1600 one and the 1800 one...and I think the 2200 one that has rude games and mahong

Well if somebody reads this and has them, I would be interested in acquiring these additional datfiles that BP is talking about here.

    Thanks!

  8. That game I mentioned wasn't in the "1,200 Best of CoinOPS" datfile, but I'm assuming that this file wasn't your creation. I did see that the game was supported when I added it though. It's a shame there isn't a datfile that contains every single arcade rom you had working and integrated in R4.

  9. I have about 20 XBox controllers and this has happened to me before. It even happens in XPORT emulators when you're trying to alter skin configurations, such as where the artwork and movies go.

From my experience, it's a controller thing. I have about 20 XBox controllers now and some just work better than others. They're all used controllers, so I have no idea how old they even are. I never even joined the scene until they officially stopped selling them, well after the 360 came out.

Definitely, if you're using an off brand controller change it up, but I would suggest finding another M$ official controller and seeing if you get any better results.

    ~Rx

P.S. Might I also suggest splicing a USB with a broken controller cord and making yourself a way to use a keyboard and mouse on the Box. They work great with the DOS based emus.

  10. PS rx the xtras have very big potnetial and most of it is based upon your stuff as close as I can in mame zone

I know they do bud. :)

A few people have downloaded the SNES prerelease and love the touched up boxart, but I don't know if anybody has actually even used the converter programs and found all the roms (etc. etc. etc.) that need to be there for everything to work smoothly, so I haven't gotten much feedback until I found out you were using them here.

run088 probably knows my system better than most now, since he's had to go in and alter everything by hand.

My names were really just made for personal use, most of them over 3 or 4 years ago now. They weren't made with the intent to be mass released at the time. If I had the foresight back then, I would have done quite a few things differently, but given that I don't want to invest the next 20 years free time working on this, I have to just go with what I have, which is sufficient and gets the job done brilliantly. Trust me.... As an OCD'er it's hard letting it go when I don't think this is set up perfect. It's just that a few events happening recently in my real life is making me wake up and realize that I really need to start placing my OCD talents to a lucrative use and be able to help out my real life friends and family with them by doing more than giving them an XBox that plays everything. :)

It's a bummer that you can't make the emu work with my names since they would be perfect without any testing required, but shit happens. Just do me a solid and put a shout out in your releases to the Xtras team.

Otherwise... you're starting something that I wanted to see done since I got here... a single emulator that will play everything. Wish I had the time to stick around and help out, but I've got to get my fat ass on the treadmill and get a few real life hustles lined up. Daddy's gotta eat.

Anyways.... Good luck to ya. I'm sure I'll see you here if I venture back in now and again.

    ~Rx

  11. Oh yeah... I did have one more question BP....

I wanted to know how you make the config files (which you say are necessary to play the games). Are they made when you go in the menu settings and set up the controls for a game?

  12. I'm not looking for help in depth for anything. What you posted above is good enough.

In my Xtras t0rrent, I will be releasing your R4 with all the games you tested as working perfectly as well as games line 4enraya that you wouldn't add. I'm not going all out this time as I don't have time to do it. I know that your emu is still going to advance and go way beyond what I'm putting out there, but people should be able to get a good start collecting what they need for your future releases with what will be available here.

I'll be sure to make a note that it's not one of your official releases, but something that I just added some games to. It's really for my own personal use, but it will be in the directory structure that I'm putting together for the entirity of the Xtras so it will be clean and there will be no non-working games in it.

    Thanks,

    ~Rx

  13. Gameboy list are finished. Nes is finished. Nes screenshots will go quick to but the rest will take a minute to do. I can rename them quick but I have to manually pluck them from the folder because they are in xport format. If somebody knows a way to massively pluck files from multible folders at the same time let me know.

Someone was volunteering a few post up to hand patch the years. If you want to do it let me know and I will get you the list to edit.

About your roms I don't think you can use them unless they are renamed to coinops specs. I know this disappoints some people but it can not be helped. The dat files used were the ones for the xtra's project. This is because of the cleaner game name and 43 symbol restrictions of the xbox. There would have been no way to add this many games in a list generated type of way. Had I used goodsets or whatever all display names would have looked terrible and each would have had to be redone by hand. Just the first 2 systems would have required 1800+ hand edits. I got the whole process automated with only the year to be changed that is the only variable I can't automate. This also works for the xtra's screenshots and videos. Just need a bulk renaming program to remove all spaces and symbols other than letters and numbers. Then they should all be coinop compliant. If you use resx or megaman's dat files.

If someone will explain to me how to make a dat file I will be more than happy to make one and request it be put in the emulators package. Or people can make there own by following the directions I stated to alter the resx dat's to work.

First, I wanted to say that I'm impressed with the amount of work you've been doing on this run. That's a big job. I only wish that I was further along with my own project at the moment so you could be basing your work off my newest stuff.

Second, it's really cool seeing somebody use the Xtras stuff this early in the game. I'm hoping that others down the road realize the potential of the Xtras and what it will mean in the future to people looking to put other projects together, and the speed with which you guys should be able to put perfectly working romsets together is proof of how good the system works. The way I figure it, a 42 character limit is more than sufficient when console rom names should be treated just like MAME's are and simply be placeholders for the code/coders to work with. If anything, the Xtras names are too complicated, but the benefit they'll have over MAME's names down the road is you can actually tell what game you're looking at without having to look them up elsewhere.

It's a bummer we can't just work with the pre-established names here... If this ever gets taken further and made to support all the Xtra things we use like commercials, game faqs, synopsis, manuals, strategy guides, game reviews and other's, I hope the coder decides it's worth the time to write the code in a way to work with the Xtras naming conventions so they match all the Xtras by default and eliminate forever any need to be altering everything.

If I weren't running out of time here to be working on this stuff with the intensity I do, and if we already had the sort/filter feature working in the Madmab Edition XPORT emus, and the ability to then display the synopsis full name for games instead of the file name, I'd be right on board with ya renaming all this stuff. But as it is, the MAME names for console games would look like crap in the XPORT emus, and I would really like to be done with my end of the project within the next 45 days or so.

We're in a bind here.... The coder that works on systems without sort/filter features hasn't built it on his own yet, and the coder that jumped onto a system that had fully functioning sort/filter features and Title Name altering doesn't stray a millimeter from his vision.

Just gotta wait it out. Somethin'll give... :D

    Good luck to ya man,

    ~Rx

  14. Hi ressurectionx,

I want to make some videos for Coinops Showcase.I have xmvconverter, but, what is the previous step? I mean, how do you capture videos from Mame?

I tried with a Mame version who record as .AVI, but the quality is rubbish.I also tried with FRAPS, but the video and sound is horrible.

    What software do you use?

I actually don't make any videos myself except for the really crappy systems nobody cares about like Supervision and Chip8. My computer is old and slow and I use desktop capture, so any systems more advanced than that look horrible for me as well.

I would suggest posting that question in the forum with a new thread on here as well as at the site my main thread is on. I'm sure somebody who knows will be able to help.

Let me know if you get it working. I may need some videos made myself. :thumbsup1:

  15. Here for all who don't release your sources and.......Fu.. you.

Fumanchu... He just meant "Fuck you" lol. :thumbsup1: Don't be paranoid!

LOL... yep. That was probably more apparent when it had size 50 font.

It's a good thing we can't stab each other over the internet.
