  1. I've decided to take a look at these arcade boards. Seeing how we will be seeing KOF on the Atomiswave in the near future. I'll give out some stuff on it :D A Comparison. We all know that the Naomi board is a souped up Dreamcast right?

    Naomi Specs:

    CPU : Hitachi SH-4 64-bit RISC CPU (200 MHz 360 MIPS / 1.4 GFLOPS)

    Graphic Engine : PowerVR 2 (PVR2DC)

Sound Engine : ARM7 Yamaha AICA 45 MHZ (with internal 32-bit RISC CPU, 64 channel ADPCM)

    Main Ram : 32 megs

    Main Memory : 32 MByte

    Graphic Memory : 16 MByte

    Sound Memory : 8 MByte

Media : ROM Board (maximum size of 172MBytes) / GD-Rom

Simultaneous Number of Colors : Approx. 16,770,000 (24bits)

    Polygons : 2.5 Million polys/sec

    Rendering Speed : 500 M pixel/sec

Additional Features : Bump Mapping, Fog, Alpha-Bending (transparency), Mip Mapping (polygon-texture auto switch), Tri-Linear Filtering, Anti-Aliasing, Environment Mapping, and Specular Effect.

Now the Atomiswave is said to be someone more powerful, but I beg to differ. Based on the Naomi and Dreamcast Cast specs.

Now look closely. Notice how the Atomiswave has less ram then the Naomi? I've had high hopes for the Atomiswave. Now it concerns me. Why did Sammy simply downgraded the Naomi with less RAM? The Atomiswave seems nothing more then a Dreamcast with twice the VRAM. Will we see arcade perfect conversions to the PS2? Possibly? Of course the only reason I'm doing this is too see what can Sammy put out on it's hardware with GG and KOF. GGXX was on Naomi GD-Rom, GGXX#Reloaded is on Atomiswave. Just in case someone says something. Anyone else's views?

  2. Why do some of you care of what gets "mainstream?" Does that make the anime less of great?

For example, Cowboy Bebop is everywhere now. Cowboy Bebop is synonimous for great anime. So, since it is well known, does it suck more? I don't believe so.

Anyway, does anyone know if GunGrave will come out in Eng Dub? I like Eng Dub more because I pay more attention to the screen and artwork and story, rather that the letters at the bottom of my screen.

    Anon.

I certainly don't care. Anime is anime to me. If it leaves me hanging for more, then its good in my book. Mainstream is just an appel in the US. If its "mainstream" it must be good. Heh, I didn't like Big-O then, and I'm not going to like it now just because its in english. Check ADV Films or Pioneer if GunGrave licensed yet. I want to see an english, not so horrible, dub of it.

  3. Heh, since i didnt post what i liked before;

    Tv Series/Movies/OVA

Oh! My Goddess (owns so much)

    Last Exile

Theres a handful I haven't mentioned. But its kinda hard to remember all your favorites ;D

  4. the only 3D fighters I have played (and currently own) are Dead or Alive 2, Virtua Fighter 4 and Soul Calibur 2. They had appealing characters. B)

I like Soul Caliber 2. I don't know why but I really loved the first incarnation of the game when it was called Soul Edge for the PS1.

I've always hated the Tekken games, they were so boring. Virtual Fighter 1 was awesome because it was the first 3D Fighter. I was never too enthralled with the Dead or Alive series, not even the bouncing breasts did it for me.

Soul Edge, Soul Blade, Soul Calibure, Soul Calibur 2 :D

My sister and girlfriend play SC2 very well. Even managed to kick my ass.

  5. but Nvidia's video cards supports OpenGL! ! ! doesnt that matter ?? :)

Open GL is a dying breed. It will be replaced with DirectX9 games soon, such as Halo.

You misunderstand *why* OpenGL exists in the first place. It's an open API. DirectX is 100% proprietary, and is only supported under Windows. Supposedly an upcoming version of Virtual PC will allow Mac gamers to play DirectX-only games, and there's already Wine and WineX for playing non-ported games under Linux. Still, that's not good enough for some people.

OpenGL won't be dying anytime soon, not as long as companies like id and Epic continue to support it.

I'm royally pissed about Half Life though. With the original, most of the game servers running were Linux servers. Was there a Linux client? Nope. Could it have run under Linux? Yes, even the Windows version supported OpenGL. Linux gamers who were hopeful for a Linux client got screwed, and Valve has already shown that they have absolutely no intentions to release anything more than a Linux server for Half Life 2.

As for Halo... it *would* have been an awesome OpenGL game, if Microsoft hadn't bought Bungie, and left their Macintosh loyalists out in the cold. Also, no co-op in the PC version; what's up with that? If Bungie had remained thier own company, there may have even eventually been a Linux client. But noooo... MS just HAD to have that killer app for the XBOX.

It would of came out on MAC before PC. Because Bungie = Mac based company before it was bought out.

Yes I know OpenGL was open API. But with the things that are going on now, better to embrace DX other then hating it for ever. And the HL2 think, yes, you did get screwed over, but it was the company's choice, and theres nothing you can do about it. Lets hope they put the Servers on it for sure thought.

OpenGL is dying, because it isn't support enough as it used to. As the first generation of DX9 cards come out, companies will surely change within time.

Also when BTX comes out, its going to be a whole new game by then, Intel getting rid of the old I/O bus.
