  1. KI got some looping combos so i wouldnt be surprised if thats not yet an Ultra. heck i managed to perform some of them (reaching 60+hits i believe) ON THE GAMEBOY VERSION

just consider the GB control limitations compared SNES KI, then...you know :D

  2. If you're using Kawaks, I don't know how to get it to show up, believe me I've tried.

I use Nebula 2.23d with loader, and in my dats I have one dat for KOF2003 and one for the kof2003t just like the page said, setting kof2003 as the parent... and it shows up.  The original KOF2003 even shows up on Nebula, but it won't load.  It acts like it's going to then finally performs an error after like 10 seconds.

Hell, the problem is that kof2003 uses different rom banking, so nebula's built in coding that makes drivers out of your dat files won't work on it.  If Nebula was open source I could flocking fix it with little trouble... arg.  Stupid El Semi :D.  The same goes for Kawaks, it's not open source either, but they were both compiled with C/C++

FBA is open source. wanna try converting the MAME code to FBA ones?

I wouldn't be converting anything... but I'm but I am 90% sure that the reason kof2003 won't work on other emus is because it uses different rom banking. The rom banking is part of the driver. All emus use drivers, but the newer ones allow you to add in new dats, and they are coded to use this information in drivers. If you've ever seen a driver, it contains all the info a dat file does, but there is extra stuff, mostly programming.

If I could get ahold of the source code to Nebula or Kawaks, I could add in a separate internal driver for kof2003. I would have to add a separate one... if I modified the existing one, it would be almost guaranteed to work, but instead of kof2003 being the only game that wouldn't work, it would then be the only one that would. I'm pretty sure that adding a seperate internal driver, either just like you would in mame, or coding it to take its crc's etc from Nebula\kof2003romdata\*.dat would work; I'm pretty sure that the original code makes it create drivers, taking it's crc's and such from Nebula\romdata\*.dat.

yes i know about the banking thing, im just a greedy FBAer

FBA would be on the same status as MAME if only more people can work with it (obviously not). so far the only banking driver i found that was said to work with FBA was for CTHD2003.

  4. Does anyone know which version of Kawaks (apart from the 1.46 bit) the guy in the pictures in the above forum ( http://excoboard.com/exco/thread.php?forum...7&threadid=3479 ) was using? I'm keen to get me a copy, as it supports SVC chaos, Mslug5, PI Matrimelee, Garou AND ROTD.

But...what did that guy mean about his pics being a fake? Is it a fake that they support those games?

Garou is natively supported in all current emus (including Kawaks). no hacks required.

  5. you will not be able to play KOF2k3 on MacMAME because KOF2k3 uses a special banking technique that only the emu that came with the ROM can play it (just like Metal Slug 5 did). it is currently being figured out as i type this but more than likely it would only benefit Windows MAME users.

rom renaming more than likely wont cut it.

i am not sure about this. once the correct driver is worked out.those who compile MACmame should be able to ge it to run. maybe with some changes.

youre right, MAME code is portable. however, im trying to show him what he can expect later. judging by his post, you can clearly say he cant compile for his own (rom renaming?) and since majority here uses any Win32 MAME (Windows in itself actually), thats how i got the conclusion that only Windows users may get to enjoy the game in MAME.

  6. how to disable the limited coins (4)???

i tried the right click but theres only gereral and version tab, so i tried the default games option, then bios tab change to usa, but it didnt work, im still limited to the 4 credits.,, PLs need your help

play in arcade mode and if possible, enable freeplay. console mode always defaults at 4 credits and untouchable at that.

  7. ...so you mean people were still making games for the CPS2 after they stopped making games for the CPS3?

yeah, i guess. Progear no Arashi is a 2001 game as far as i know. there may be others but i have no clue on them.

btw, Hyper Street Fighter 2 arcade was rumored for an Arcade release (and on the CPS-2 hardware as well)

unlike the Neogeo scene, next to nobody can hoard this game as only Razoola (and company?) has the ability the decipher the encryption tables for CPS-2 games. if the rumor is true then expect to see this game on your CPS-2 emu 5 years from now.

  8. Yeah, but if he doesn't do it, someone else will.

im sure there are a lot of people who can help the arcade emu scene, but come to think of it how many are "qualified" to actually help on do some devotion to it?

I see the CPS-3 being emulated fairly soon (by glacial scales anyway) because a) there are already so many successful cps1/2 emulators out there...

theyre completely different hardware. CPS1/2 being emulated doesnt justify CPS-3 being close.

:D the dreamcast emulators are making progress,

i always thought the main problem of CPS-3 is the encryption of games much like in CPS-2.

and c) everyone is gonna want to be the first person to crack the code. It won't be easy, but it'll happen.

i seriously dont think so. ever wondered why there are millions of people want CPS-2 emulation yet only Razoola and a few others gave way to it? where are the geniuses that time? why did CPS-2 emulation took a long way? FYI, CPS-1 was fully emulated that time.

if ever that KOF2k3/CPS3 scam was real, id go for Razoola's path as well. people who can help the community arent that many, and people who have devotion to it are rare. call me an ass or anything but they will always get my respect just for that. besides, why wait for another person who can "do the cracking" when someone who can already exist?

  9. about Terry's Stage in Garou, those are called Raster Effects (consider it as a special hardware technique for drawing background effects), older emus like Kawaks and NRX doesnt support Rasters so youre seeing that effect.

play it on MAME, FBA and Nebula and youll notice that the scrolling will run smooth again.

no clue why it happens on Shadow Dancer though, i dont have the game.
