Rag Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I use Windows Media Player 9 for my music and stuff, but as of late its stopped playing MIDI format music, anyone know how to fix this problem??
Agozer Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 As in when you try to load a Midi file, it doesn't load?
Gryph Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 You have to got options and set the associations again. Did another program steal MIDIs?

Did another program steal MIDIs?Well, if the problem is about file associations, that doesn't mean that the midis won't play...I think one can set the associations again from the Media Player settings.
Rag Posted June 24, 2004 Author Posted June 24, 2004 Its not the associations, tryed that. Its just the MIDI's look like they are playing, there is no error message or anything, they just dont play...

Rag Posted June 24, 2004 Author Posted June 24, 2004 but but but but but but I like WMP.... Only other thing I can see is using another program, I have to use quicktime for MIDIs for now which sucks. I'm sure theres a way to fix it, I just don't know what it is.

Rag Posted June 24, 2004 Author Posted June 24, 2004 I hate movies on winamp... but then again, I usually use DivX player for movies
Agozer Posted June 24, 2004 Posted June 24, 2004 I hate movies on winamp... but then again, I usually use DivX player for moviesMe too, but I still use the good old WMP for those too....software/hardware limitations, you know. Getting back to the topic...At least in Windows 98, you could set some MIDI-related settings from Control Panel --> Multimedia...
ken_cinder Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 Pretty much EVERY sound card has a volume control for midi playback, something or someone has dropped the volume to 0 or muted the volume for midi. Check your soundcards mixer controls.
Gryph Posted June 25, 2004 Posted June 25, 2004 If all else fails, uninstall your sound card drivers, remove it from Device Manager and reinstall.
