Can I Play Burned Dreamcast Games On My Dreamcast?

Recommended Posts

If I burned an Auto Boot Dreamcast game on a blank CD-R will it play perfectly on my Dreamcast?

Do emulators for Dreamcast work by placing the emulator and the roms on a blank CD and playing it in the Dreamcast?

Do I need a mod-chip, or do I need any special hook ups for this to work?

Yes you can play burned games on your Dreamcast. No you do not need a mod chip or any special hook up. The worst is that you need to use a boot disc which is very rare.

I haven't used an emulator but I'm sure its very easy.

I just want to add to that... I'm looking to buy one still; here's what I want to know.

1- It has been decided that both 3020 and 3030 cna play cdr's right?

2- Dreamcasts can play burnt games without any chips etc?

3- Can they play any region (PAL or NTSC)?

Thanks. The only one i think is the problem is the PAL/NTSC thing... in which case, how do you get around it?

the 3020's play em. I hear that the 3030's don't or have trouble.

No chip. At best you have to use a boot disc. Which is also downloadable.

Regions....heh, patch it.

1.) It has been said that ALL Dreamcasts play backups.

2.) No modchip required. None. Zilch. Zip. Nada.

3.) You need to use a boot disc or an import enabler to play PAL names on NTSC. But I am not sure it works all the time or at all. But most games can be found on NTSC and some games have a thing that lets you choose whether you want PAL or NTSC.

Thanks for the quick replies from both of you. Yeh the PAL thing craps me coz its so easy to NTSC stuff... damn I hate living a PAL region.

I call it the 50Hz Hell....regardless of the bigger horizontal resolution.
