Robert Posted Sunday at 08:43 AM Posted Sunday at 08:43 AM MAMEUI64 0.280.0 has been released. Available at https://messui.1emulation.com References to "SW Files" have been changed to "Loose SW", which is the more commonly known name.
Thartchen Posted Sunday at 09:02 PM Posted Sunday at 09:02 PM When I left-shift+F7 quickload my saved game state on Gun.Smoke in v0.280.0 the game loads incorrectly with the sprites appearing off-screen and staying invisible during game play. Reverting back to 0.279.0 and the problem goes away.
Robert Posted Sunday at 11:07 PM Author Posted Sunday at 11:07 PM What happens with standard MAME 0.280 ?
Thartchen Posted Monday at 09:35 AM Posted Monday at 09:35 AM Same thing, 0.279 is fine and 0.280 borks the quicksave when its loaded.
Robert Posted Monday at 02:09 PM Author Posted Monday at 02:09 PM If it's happening with MAME then you'd have to ask the developers. That having been said, I asked one of them to check and they said there was nothing wrong. However if you made the savestate with 0.279 and then you're trying to load it into 0.280, then they have no support for using a savestate between versions. In that case then it's just bad luck.
StHiryu Posted yesterday at 12:02 AM Posted yesterday at 12:02 AM Yeah is well known that save states are incompatibles between mame versions.

That sort of limits my ability to upgrade. I've spent weeks getting to level 3 of 6 on Gun.Smoke after playing it for 40 years 😭 Seems its a known limitation with mame as implementing cross platform / crossOS save states would be an enormous amount of work https://www.reddit.com/r/MAME/comments/icnbe0/is_there_a_way_to_migrate_state_files_between/ https://github.com/mamedev/mame/issues/13449 Thanks for answering tho peeps 👍
