Only if I get both the source and permission....I dont want the open source police calling me stuff especially when they are the only people not releasing sources....is that irony or hypocricy...

 

I hope others dont beat me to it.....I may have underesitmated there ability like they told me I did....I hope they where right....

excelent news. hope can do good port in Coinops. Several sucre codes are waiting to some one want to port it to the xbox. Street of Rage remake for exaple. May dream is see in the futere a xbox port too.

If you are determined BP then I commend and thank you...This is a totally rad game.

 

...and we are already on a team together....

I went in and have been doing a little research on the matter.

 

1. I don't think anyone else has.

2. The game was made by Redigit. (who posses the source)

3. He has been mia as of late.

4. There is nothing on there site against it.

5. The guys over there seem to think that the source is kinda a mess an it was built in Visual Basic.

6. Redigit: (actually) last see on the forums 11/13/10

7. I have asked nicely for the source. :P

cheers....will be good if its in visual basic I to have looked at stuff and its wierdly coded I thought they would have hacked org cart but it looks like they might have done it from scratch

Hmm... Well I guess we'll just have to take a peak if we can get the source.

Guys over there don't seem to be familiar with the Xbox stuff or see the appeal... also some say that Redigit has been asked before in regards to the Wii, and he said no...

I am willing to wait and see what he has to say to me personally.

because what He was actually asked was, to to port it himself (in the past.)

The sole developer, Redigit, gets most of his feedback from moderators that gather information on bugs and features and forward them his way. The moderators seem mixed on the idea of a port, but I don't think they know what we are asking for.

 

From what the moderators have told me, Redigit is fearful of clones and doesn't want to go open source because of potential forks.

 

My guess is that if you are really open to porting it, then it would only happen if you spoke to Redigit and got permission yourself. Of course other people sharing interest will help.

 

How badly do we want this ported?

well i need to see how its coded to judge the work vs the reward....to me if I get the source and looks as easy as the doom sources ill port it in a day....if its major maybe I wont....

 

if its to complexed id leave it.....as I have other stuff im working on for sure....

 

by the way for xmv code its a 10minute job and so is synopsis....well maybe an hour or two....just use the sources from CoinOPS or just the xdk is fine they are all in the samples folder.....

Looks like someone still goes to xbox-scene. :) I thought xmv would be pretty easy to add, it's not hard to add an xmv audio feature. I just have to make the menu more responsive first. Synopsis I know less about. If its just game info I suppose I can add it easily as long as I understand how it scrapes for specific game info.

 

Back on topic - Hopefully you'll be able to get a hold of Redigit, or he'll respond to the request thread.

I know more than what people think...your thread is the only one of interest now the rest are icons or something and to me thats 10second jobs...........anyway xmv is 10min job if you need it done and it will use 200k of mem and be snappy as.......but the stuff you mentioned like fade out effects is one line of code, actually its just changing one line you will allready have....ill admit im a bit scared you cant do this stuff and are making a new gui...but im sure its all good....I was also scared when I saw you use cba skin as default and the comments I saw afterwould where the axact reason why I questioned it and felt bad about it...if you want logo or skins creat neil222 seems really good if you want a logo that easy as.....also on that note when im finished with xbmc stuff ill probably take an indipendant look at n64 and psx core and see if I can fix a few issues core wise...the rest of the cores seem to be really good, but obviously due to 3d nature these are the worst but still pretty good...ill release sources after I look if you guys want them...but they will be placed into a diff engine and it isnt just a cut and paste like people think....

 

best of luck I hope someone can get me sources for this so I can see how easy / hard this is to put into the xbox....

Little confused there, sent a PM about the other stuff.

 

I am very convinced they will not make the source available for me (anyone) to hand down. At best we can get in contact with Redigit and maybe get a better way to contact him where you two can make an arrangement.
