They're adding Pro Instruments into the game, where you use instruments (purchased separately) that imitate their real life counterparts extremely well (the guitar instrument has strings in the bottom, but instead of holding the string down on the fret the frets will have "buttons" instead).

 

Same for the keyboard instrument, and the drums (to play the "pro" drums you just need the RB2 symbol set and the game uses all its buttons).

 

After I see the "Pro" guitar in action I'll consider getting it.
