Bad Driver Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Hi. I just installed the mugen xp too. It works great! However, after I exited (as in back to MWC), I got lots of horizontal lines which I can't get rid of unless I restart my computer. These lines mess up everything on the screen and I can't read anything on my screen anymore, leaving me no choice but to restart. Anybody else has this problem? Any ideas for a solution? I like Mugen but I'm not going to restart everytime I wanna stop playing. Any help would be appreciated! I'm using a laptop, btw, so that might be a factor. My specs:P4 2.40GHz 448MB of RAMRADEON IGP 345M Sound is fine.
Gryph Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 I get the same problem but you don't have to restart your computer. Just right click on your Display Properties and change the color from 32 bit to 16 bit (well just change it to anything) and when it says "Would you like to keep these settings?" Press no and then it should bring everything back to normal. That's one of the reasons I don't use MUGEN anymore because it was annoying to do that. No matter what video setting combination I used, it always did that to me.
Shoma Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Well as order by mr. gamecop ill place my problems right here. It seems that Vdm sound thing doesnt work for my computer it always stops at intailzing keyboard or sound(one of them). I kno i heard someone post the smae thing be4 but i didnt qiute get the solutiob so if u may have pity on the new little member(planing to go big) and kinda show me or give me a solution! P.S. is Gryphon's souliton making sense cuz it kinda doesnt to me.
Gryph Posted August 20, 2004 Posted August 20, 2004 Well my thing isn't really a solution for the problem, it's just a way to temporarily deal with it. I'll clarify. Whenever I quit MUGEN, the screen was all messed up so I went into Display properties and changed the Color Quality from 32 bit to 16 bit. When asked to keep the settings, I said no. The reason I did this is because changing from 32 bit to 16 bit refreshes everything on the screen so it brings it back to normal.
Shoma Posted August 21, 2004 Posted August 21, 2004 I see, hmmm jeez this sound problem is waayy more harder than baseball!
Gryph Posted August 22, 2004 Posted August 22, 2004 Sound problem? Is it lagging? If so, get VDMsound, that'll fix it.
Permethium Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Sound problem? Is it lagging? If so, get VDMsound, that'll fix it.Naah. the problem IS with VDM sound. It just takes you up to the "Initializing Keybord" message when it loads, and then it's stuck. I'm using Winmugen now and i'm happy to report that I'm not experiencing any problems anymore

Permethium Posted August 26, 2004 Posted August 26, 2004 Apart from some of those old dos characters not working That can be fixed without much of a hassle.....some of the characters that are completely incompatible with winmugen is just too old anyway, not being updated anymore - better ones out there to download IMO. full of bugs Apart from the character incompatability problem and the sound problem (which i fixed with a plugin) i can't say that i had any other problems with Winmugen - It's just sooo much better and faster than Dosmugen.

Unfortunately I forgot what it was and i'm currently at university so i'll post it in later.
