MK3Fan Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 (edited) Recently happened upon this forum and thought I'd share my recent build of my first Mame cab. Thanks for looking. Here is a link to some pics of the build process along with a video of the same thing. http://s105.photobucket.com/albums/m202/ze...%203/?start=all http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hTpQWLXkdc Edited January 19, 2008 by MK3Fan
MK3Fan Posted January 6, 2008 Author Posted January 6, 2008 That's....amazing. Thanks. It's not just Mame either. I have NES, SNES, Atari, and Playstation Emualtors as well. All together, I have over 10,000 games on this one machine.
Wizard Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 it's a sexy box. You even got the stickers and everything. I wish I wasn't lazy to finish my h2h cab.
MK3Fan Posted January 6, 2008 Author Posted January 6, 2008 thas nice yo. does the keyboard slide out? Yes. It hides nicely under the control panel in a slide out drawer.
Inky Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 nice! someday when I get out of apartment living I'm gonna build a mame cab.
Devia Eleven Posted January 6, 2008 Posted January 6, 2008 That really must be some hard work though, I am really wondering how much all of the equipment costs in that project.
MK3Fan Posted January 6, 2008 Author Posted January 6, 2008 That really must be some hard work though, I am really wondering how much all of the equipment costs in that project. When all was said and done, I spent around $3000. But, I had the money and I have wanted an MK3 machine for 13 years now. Not only do I have one, but it has 10,000 other games on it too. Thanks for all the kind words guys.

MK3Fan Posted January 10, 2008 Author Posted January 10, 2008 (edited) Nice looking cab. mate.....what are the spec's on the computer you have in there ??..and does it run most of the games you play at the correct speed ?? The only games that do not run correctly are the 3-D games, but there currently is no version of Mame that I know of that will run them. Such as MK4, NFL Blitz, Carnevil, Soul Caliber, games like those. I have all the CHD's and the games, but they are choppy and slow. I understand that it's Mame causing the problem and not my hardware due to other forums I have visited and no one really can get them to work. This is all based on what I know of only. There could be solutions out there that I am not aware of. I don't ever really play the games that don't run, so It's really no big deal to me. Every other game is perfect. Most people have problems with the Killer Instinct roms, but they run great on my machine. I am using Ver .99 My specs are... AMD 2800+ 1.8 ghz chip with 1GB of ram. Figured that was all I needed and it turned out great. Thanks for the kind words. Edited January 10, 2008 by MK3Fan
Sybarite Paladin AxL Posted January 11, 2008 Posted January 11, 2008 What exactly is that cabinet? Does it run Windows or something? Sorry for the silly questions but I just can't see where or how'd you'd fit that many games and into what? And on top of it all, I don't really see why you guys like cabinets that much. To me they're just a gigantic waste of space. A proper games collection should be on a DVD or something, ccompanied by a perfectly optimized emulator, ready to be run on a PC at a moment's notice.

I have a computer inside that runs all the games. Having the cabinets is more of a nostalgia reason than anything else. Reminds me of being young and imagining one day actually having the game and now I do. Edited January 11, 2008 by MK3Fan
MK3Fan Posted January 19, 2008 Author Posted January 19, 2008 Finally broke down and got some full sideart for the machine from the great services of Scott at www.mamemarquees.com. Only problem is that he just stretched the "Medallion" sideart so it isn't JUST right. I had it printed 2" taller than the factory art because I built the machine that way. The result is that the "MK3" is cropped off. I'll have to live with it. It's still better than what I had, so I am grateful. It wasn't easy changing the art out, but I think it turned out well. Here are some pics.
bad gamer Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 You've done a nice job there ...looks good.....Congrat's
