GodPigeon Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 (edited) Ok My friend Just gave me his old Graphics Card. Its a NVidia GeForce 7300 GS But he didnt give me a CD. So i went to www.nvidia.com and i downloaded the Drivers for it. When i get Here I Choose [Graphics Driver>Geforce 7 Series>Windows XP/2000] Everything installs Perfectly and i restart. But then when i got to [Control Panel>Display>Settings] I get this Msg. And there wasnt any change in any of the games i played. This is my first time ever messing with Graphics cards so i really dont know what to do next. Any help?? Edited April 23, 2007 by GoRDoOnE
ken_cinder Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 What version of Windows are you running, and is the card a retail NvIdia or a 3rd party?
GodPigeon Posted April 23, 2007 Author Posted April 23, 2007 What version of Windows are you running, and is the card a retail NvIdia or a 3rd party?Im running XP. And Its nvidia
ken_cinder Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 That's wierd. Did you try going with a previous driver revision? Nothing to say that they didn't screw something up in the latest. I can't run the latest Catalysts for instance, they cause my computer to crash spontaneously.
GodPigeon Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 not yet, but i will give the 6 series driver a try
GodPigeon Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 Ok i DL'd it and it ends up being the same file. asks me if i would like to Replace ___ File with ___ File.
GodPigeon Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 I just downloaded Like Three more different Files and i get the same thing every time. What should i do??
Gryph Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Did you uninstall and remove all your old graphics drivers?
GodPigeon Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 No, My other Graphics card is an Integrated ATi RADEON XPRESS 200. So should i still uninstall them???
ken_cinder Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Not necessary. See if you can download older drivers from this page: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp-2k_archive.html It would appear, by default, that page isn't available. Trying 6 series drivers won't get you anywhere with a 7 series card, and besides, they use the same package.
GodPigeon Posted April 24, 2007 Author Posted April 24, 2007 OMG ive tried just about every one that supports my card and i get the same msg.
ken_cinder Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I think I have an idea here.......bus conflict. Your onboard video is most likely clashing, as the bus is shared I would imagine.I'm not entirely sure how it works with PCI-Express, but if you've only got the one bus path, there is going to be a fight over it for IRQs.Do me a favor and disable the onboard video in the bios, no need to uninstall the drivers for the ATi chipset, and then go back and install the GeForce.Tell me how it works out.
