Kanzeil Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 None of the dipswitches seem to work for me in Winkawaks with Garou: Mark of the Wolves. I'll activate them and click OK but it doesn't work and when I return to the dipswitch menu, nothing is checked. Does the game just not work with them or am I doing something wrong or is my rom screwed up?
Agozer Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 What DIP switches? Set the Game options (Soft DIP Settings) from the Neo-Geo BIOS.
Kanzeil Posted January 31, 2006 Author Posted January 31, 2006 (edited) Sorry but I'm not entirely sure how to do that. I'm used to just the basic playing of the games. Can you explain? Oh and the dipswitches I want are 1-1, 1-3, and 1-6 if that's what you were asking. Edited January 31, 2006 by Kanzeil
Agozer Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 The only way that you can change the hardware DIP switches (Hard DIPs; the psysical switches on the arcade), through is to use either the Debug BIOS or the Universe BIOS. The switches reset when you reset the emulator. These DIPs are marked 1-1 through 1-8, and 2-1 through 2-8. You can alos enable the so-called "Developer Mode' as well. Don't ask me what it does though. Software DIP switches are the ones that can be accessed through the Neo-Geo Test Menu; (F1 in NeoRAGEx, F2 in Nebula, Kawaks, MAME, B+C+D with the Universe BIOS) ---> Setting Up The Soft DIP--> ) These settings control the amount of rounds, difficulty, blood on/off, language, etc.
Kanzeil Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 Yea, I'm aware of what the DIP switches do. They work for me with every game except Garou: Mark of the Wolves. The problem is that when I activate the DIP switches in that game, nothing happens and when I go back to the DIP switch menu they are all unchecked as if I had never checked them in the first place. I kind of need the debug object (1-1) in this game because I'm aiming to rip sprites out for work on a MUGEN project.
Kanzeil Posted February 1, 2006 Author Posted February 1, 2006 lol, so ya don't know what could cause this then?...
Agozer Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I just tested with garou and the DIP switches do stay at least in the Universe BIOS.
Kanzeil Posted February 3, 2006 Author Posted February 3, 2006 It actually works for you with Universe Bios? I tried using a Universe BIOS and I get a window telling me "feature not available as UNIVERSE BIOS found." Where did you get your universe BIOS from?
Robert Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Ahem, you can't ask where to get bioses or roms from. It's in the RULES.
Kanzeil Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 (edited) eh sorry, I didn't realize that Universe BIOS were unrequestable too. I just assumed that only the game roms and neogeo bios were against the rules. OK so what else can I do to solve the problem in this thread. Edited February 4, 2006 by Kanzeil
Agozer Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 eh sorry, I didn't realize that Universe BIOS were unrequestable too. I just assumed that only the game roms and neogeo bios were against the rules. The Universe still contains the original Neo-Geo BIOS, although heavily modified. That's why it's against the rules to ask where to get it. It really isn't that hard to find it though. As for the message it gave you, I've never encountered something like that. Just out of couriosity, what does the 1-1 DIP do?
Kanzeil Posted February 4, 2006 Author Posted February 4, 2006 It's supposed to show the debug object (at least in 2-d fighters it does). The debug object is basically a fighter that shows up in the middle of the screen and you can control his animations. It's the primary way I rip sprites from Neo geo games.
Agozer Posted February 4, 2006 Posted February 4, 2006 Hm. I didn't get that to work when I enabled 1-1. Maybe I should have enabled Developer Mode as well.
oweaponx Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Strangly, I have this, only with G:MOTW, as well. I'm using Winkawks. I click games > NeoGeo Setting > Dip Switch. I've tried multiple times, to select them, but they won't stay. I've found that it will stay in the "Prototype" version, which I had found 1st. The prototype, overall, is a good version. The only real bugs are that the character story dialogues can get buggy. Otherwise, it's a good play, and if you're wanting to rip sprites (so long as it's not the endings), Prototype works well.
