I found mention of this little Half-Life 2 mod on fileplanet earlier, and have wasted at LEAST 2 hours on it since. It's great stuff.

Basically, it provides a bunch of modified weapons that aren't really weapons, but various ways to screw with the physics. You can:

- Use the manipulator gun that was available in the leaked alpha/E3 demos

- Spawn a bunch of different props with the Q key, including ragdolls

- Attach things with two different types of "rope" or just "weld" them solidly together

- Attach working wheels to just about anything, then control them with a throttle

- Attach manhacks to things and make them pull whatever it is around.

- Attach balloons to things to make them float

etc...

It sounds pointless, and it is, but it's a helluva lot of fun to screw around with. I'm pretty sure you can use the cheats to summon working AI too, for double the fun.

Oh yes, the link: http://www.garry.tv/garrysmod/

I've been using this for a while, very fun indeed. I'm waiting for V6 which comes with a facial expression modeler. ;)

Saw this on one of those G4 game shows. Looked pretty fun. They showed people reenacting famous images with it, like the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima, and Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald

Unless they outsource an expansion pack like the crap-tastic opposing force.

Opposing Force craptastic? I beg to differ. It's one of the only good expansion packs made. But Gabe Newell has said they are working on new episodic content and some special hardcore maps for ATI people.

I beg to differ as well. Both Opposing Force and Blue Shift were fine additions to Half-Life.

Compared to Half-Life proper, I thought OF sucked.

Part of the reason Half-Life was awesome was because the enemies were smart (at least for their time) or they at least acted more like living things than we were used to. In short, they took some thought. The new OF stuff was all of the then-popular quake 3 "we have perfect aim and we shoot as soon as you're visible" style, or the melee equivalent. Compared to HLs, they were unbelievable and poorly thought out.

The new weapons looked neat, but were boring once you pulled the trigger. The level design was alright most of the time, and downright crappy at times (as in the pitch-black tunnels full of large enemies).

All in all, it wasn't TERRIBLE I guess, but I wasn't exactly begging for another. I never played Blue Shift, so I don't have an opinion on that one.

I don't know about all that...I had lots of fun and enjoyed the experience which is all I cared about. Oh well, to each his own.

I just must agree with you on that one. I spent the better part of an hour trying to get past these parts in question. flocking ridiculous design choices if you ask me.
