Twigboy Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 Hi I been a fan of this forum for awhile, thought I'd join the crowd. Well anyway I use to play this when I had Windows 98 but haven't messed with it since I went to WinXP. Which M.U.G.E.N works best with XP I have SP2 installed also are there and good Mod sites in english "had DBZ and a female Manga style fighter w/ some nudity. "consider mods? or characters?" Thanks.
Junior Chillage Posted January 22, 2005 Posted January 22, 2005 You should try DOSMugen first:http://www.mugenguild.com/guild/ But some XP users have problems running DOSMugen. If it doesn't work with you either, you should try Winmugen:http://www.attic7.com/unofficial/Not all characters work with this version, though :-\
bodler Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 why can i play mugen onliny in a small screen, and how cum when i try on the other mugen it tells me i need a vega driver or sumthjing, and the chsaracter inserts dont work , sum1 hlp please
Agozer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Are you sure it said Vega and not VESA? Think hard.
bodler Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 (edited) yes its vesa, and if i use Winmugen, i can only use the small, i casnt play in big screen, when i try with the big creen it says,: error message: out of memory. how can i fix that please??? Edited January 6, 2006 by bodler
Agozer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 What is your video card? Seems like it does have VESA extensions which you *supposedly* need.
bodler Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 i dont know but this problem is when using the dosmugen, but i tryed to play kof zillion on Winmugen, the game starts and like 10 sec after it tells me out of memory.....whats the problem?
Agozer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Many DOS programs need VESA extensions in order to use certain high-resolutions modes. I don't know why WinMugen displays an out of memory error, but that usually happens when the program uses up all your available memory for some reason. How much RAM do you have? Are you running XP/2000/2003 or 9x/NT? You really need to find out what video card you have.
bodler Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 97.776 kb ram ; windows 2000, but i dont know how to know wich video card i have
Agozer Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 Try this: Click Start ---> Run an type dxdiag and run it. With any luck the DirectX Diagnostics Tool should pop up. Check the Display tab and then the Device part. It may very well be that 100MB of RAM in Windows is not enough for WinMugen depending on how complex things the program tries to load.
bodler Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 well there alot of thing i see under device now and im not sure so im gonna tell u all i see monitor=plug and play monitor aprox total memory=32.0 mb dac type=internal chip type=SiS 740 Rev 00 current display mode= 800 times 600 32 byte 60 hertz
Agozer Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Ugh, a card with a SiS chip = not good (the chip is integrated into your motherboard, so there's no physical video card per se I think). You might have a better chance getting the DOS version of Mugen working by installing VESA support via SciTech Display Doctor.
bodler Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 its undownloadable,,,,,,but hey thanks alot for helping me alot man, that was cool man i hope when i get back to montreal in ma old pc it will work
Unessential Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 I Once found a small program that changes DOS mugen to winMugen characters. It wasn't perfect. but the characters were playable. I'll see if i can dig it up and post it.
