Sorry, I've never used a Games N Music, much less heard of them getting bricked. :/

  5. I'm thinking about getting a PSP an had a question about the emulation. If I want to play GBA and SNES games, do I need to be running a CFW? Also, I know that SNES emu is iffy at best, but how does GBA emulation perform? Also, do I need to use a CFW to play any PSP games that I get off the net. (In fact, is that even possible, even with a CFW?)

Yes, you do need a custom firmware (or firmware 1.50) to run emulators.

GBA emulation, iirc, is very good, with nearly full speed, sound, graphics, etc.

And yes, with a CFW, you can play PSP ISOs that you download from the internet.

  6. Hi i know there is a warning at the top of the page saying if the install is interrupted it may brick your ds, well i had a fully charged original ds i was going to install this on but my ds somehow shutdown and when i turned it back on the screen didn't change from the original grayish black screen and wouldn't bypass that screen. is there any way to unbrick my ds from this point. i ran the flashme8 noauto off of a games n music card i got yesterday and i have a bigger ezfa 3 cart that i was going to run ds games off of. so is there any way to unbrick my ds

This is the only option for recovery given by the official FlashMe website:

    Recovery:

Failsafe code is written into the first few blocks of firmware, in case the flashing procedure gets interrupted or malicious software overwrites part of your firmware. If your firmware gets corrupt, hold START+SELECT to boot directly to SLOT-1 or SLOT-2. From there, you can run flashme or noflashme to repair it.

If that doesn't work, I hope your warranty was still active for your DS. :/

  7. Thanks for the help guys. I have a follow up question though. Can anyone recommend a good Slot-2 device that will work with my R4DS? Do the two cards even have to be compatible?

I use an EZ-Flash 3-in-1 with my R4. It's a RAM expansion, rumble pack, and a GBA flashcart.

  8. Basically how it works is this;

You 'downgrade' to version 1.50. Then, you install a Custom Firmware, which mostly needs 1.50 to install. Custom Firmwares are based on real Sony firmwares and let you use games that require those.

For example, if you installed 3.50 M33, you can play games that require upto 3.50. Same goes for lower or higher CFWs. The current highest is based on 3.71, and work on a 3.80 CFW is currently underway.

So yeh, you can have a homebrew PSP and still run the latest games if you have the latest CFW.

:P you're the man. Thanks a lot. Trying to learn about all this stuff in 2 days is crazy. So much information. I just need to make a pandora battery and memory stick combo to downgrade my 3.52 Ahh...how the quest never ends lol

One more little question... If I use a psp to create the pandora battery, could that one be restored to its original "legal" state? I ask because I may have to use someone else's psp to create the pandora to downgrade mine. Some people may not want their psp to be so...how can I say this...dirty?

If you want to get rid of your custom firmware, just use the Network Update feature on your PSP to get the latest official firmware.

  11. Mine is related to Sharing isos and junk.

    Yeah yeah Shame on me.

Hmm how do u split up Iso/bins files....

    If u can

Because I got like hmm..20 isos that i want to share to the public :P

    Mine:

This just recently started happening: I'm on my computer, doing nothing at all, when an error message pops up. It says something like: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down." no matter what I do after that, my Start bar disappears and my desktop icons go away. My applications will still run, but if I minimise them I can't get them back up. Neither Spybot S&D nor Ad-Aware could find anything that would cause this. Please help! :)
