  1. Some bugs have been found in this latest build.  These games all have scrambled graphics and garbled sound (all appear to be affected by the same issue):

    kf2k2mp (KoF 2k2 Magic Plus)

kf2k2mp2 (KoF 2k2 Magic Plus II)

    ms4plus (Metal Slug 4 Plus)

    ms5plus (Metal Slug 5 Plus)

Also, when all these games launch the problem affects the Uni-Bios screen too:

    unibios

KoF 2k4 Ultra Plus (kf2k3upl) also appears to have a bug:

    kf2k3upl

This happens when fighting the mid-boss, Kusanagi.  When the round starts both character look normal, but at some point during the round they will both look like they are encompassed by fire... and they will stay that way for the rest of the fight.  This also happens when fighting the final boss, except the fighters look like they are surrounded by green fire.

Did this show up on previous builds of pro or just 1.06, i might have to go back to 1.01

  2. You are missing 135 roms (65 games) of 12340 known FBA-XXX Pro roms (649 games)

Im assume this is what everyone hear has. Is this a complete set? These roms i know are the non-working clones(cps2)

  3. lawnspic in romcenter after you have it loaded and it searched your roms, go to preferences and click on the romsets tab and you should 3 choices under rom structure. the split option basically keeps the main sets complete and leaves the clones alone with what they really need (this is how i have my romset setup in case anyone wondered)

for some clones they will need to take c roms from others so that set can work properly on its own.

Thanks for the tip, makes life easier

  4. Checking the Romcenter dat files for this set there's about 70 odd 'Red' ROMS. Just getting a few of those certain ROMS off of your new 1.06 Usenet post and replacing them turns them back to 'Green' :P

One question - I can ignore 'Yellow' ROMS, yes? There's nothing wrong with them?

Well, you know how inside each ROM zip file there is a collection of several files? Yellow ROMS means that you have all the correct files to make that ROM in your ROM set, but there is still something wrong with that set. Just click on the ROM name in the left hand window where you have your ROM paths defined and then look at the right hand window to see what it says.

It will probably be one of two things. First, one of the files inside the zip may simply have the wrong name. In this case it will say next to the file something like, "Bad name, name should be [whatever]". So all you have to do it right click on the ROM and select "Fix game" and Romcenter will rename it for you.

The other message you might see is, "Available in another game". That means that a required file is missing from that ROM, but the file that is missing is located in another ROM set (i.e. a different version of the same game). So just right-click on the ROM and select "Fix game" again and Romcenter will copy the missing file from the ROM that has it and put it in the ROM that is missing the file.

Yellow ROMS are easy to fix, but you can't ignore them because the emulator won't run them unless you do fix them.

But if it says available in other game and the rom is yellow it could mean its a clone. You dont have to fix it because it borrows those roms from the main set to play. If you merge all those roms available in another set to the ones missing then the sets would be complete, but it would eat up alot of space(possibly double the set in size) which is not needed to play.

  5. Things are heating up again for this emu (well deserved) here and all the usual places, so much so complete pro sets are floating around in varius places. This gives even novices a chance to get in all fun that this emu has to offer. Thanks to Prican and others keeping this puppy alive, Thanks

  6. Hi,I have problems with chrouching tiger hidden dragon (clone of kof2001).

I take kof2001, cthd2003 and ct2k3sp from MAME 0.104 romset (they work perfectly on MAME), but on FBA only kof2001 works.

In cthd2003 it says that 262-v1-v2-v3-v4.bin rom lack /but they are on kof2001!!!!)

In ct2k3sp it says that 262 v1-v2-v3-v4.bin lack and also that 5003-p2sp.bin and 5003-p3sp.bin lack and that 5003-p1sp.bin has a CRC of AB5C4DEo (it should be 96EEo6BC)

How can I solve those 2 problems?

    Thanks

I've already explained this several times now so please pay attention as this will be the last.

The ROMs FBA-XXX Pro uses are the latest and most correct available. MAME and other emulators do not use the latest and most correct ROMs. They are different. That is why the sets you have will not work. If you want to use FBA-XXX Pro you must update your sets by adding the ROMs that the DAT tells you are missing.

I hope this answers your question because I really don't see how I can make the point any more clear.

Wow that clears that up, +T+ i thought you were trying to match Mame sets the whole time. I was losing my mind trying to figure what the hell was going on

  7. ok, this is my first attempt to update roms myself(in the past everyone else did the work for me). Now i know how to use romcenter and such, but im still a little confused. T i see your update and the new sets added ok, and some name changes for NG sets. But when you say roms have changed in the NG sets does that mean for example samsh5sp(main) roms changed(272-p1 and p2). I assumed from what you said just some new sets and name change, did not realize there was more to it than that. Am i correct?

ok, from what is see, these games need new roms

    kok2k4se

    lastblad

    samsh5sp

and mslug5 and samshosp need the unavailable m1 roms(but are not needed to play)

am i on the right track?

  8. Just wanted to give a shout out(after playing Sfa3, console ports have nothing on this) and say this has got to be one of the best emu's on the planet. Thanks for all the hard work T and Gogo and everyone else for their input, cant wait for future updates from both of you guys.

  9. If any one is interested there is a nice collection including Fbaxxx 1.01 at *** right now. Great for someone just starting out. Im almost sure everything is here (have not check with RC yet) including clones for Cps1 2 and Neo. Worth a look best one i have seen(one on ******* was a mess) in a while, picked it up cause i was missing some. If you dont want all, use azureus to snag what you need. Also who ever released this is sure to be a regular on this forum. Thanks, you know who you are

    NO ROM LINKS !!

  10. i know this is off topic and there are already alot of ques on this thread, but i wanted to know what is with all the different versions of neogeo.zip. i have noticed three different sets. one for Fbaxxx, one for Mame and then the original 55kb version that even the newest build of Kawaks still uses since way back. are the differnt rom files in the former two zip files a hack or whatever(this does not incluse the unibios offcourse). sorry to be a pain, just wanted to make sense of all this. also i think it would be a good idea to include the bios in the new Fbaxxxpro, since it is indeed a "special" bios set needed for Fbaxxx to run unlike the original set. Thanks

  11. hi i want to install mamedox and 128, and i want to know which are the most current version releases for both. I have not used them in a while and just wanted to know. I dont trust xbins because there not updating like they used to in the past (at least for the emu's like mame and Fbaxxx). Thanks

  12. Gameplay

I really, really wish I didn’t have to say this, but Metal Slug 2 is disappointing in a few areas. Yes, the game is better than the original visually, but it lacks in a few more important parts of the game. The biggest flaw is slowdowns. On the original console [both in arcades and on the AES], Metal Slug 2 lags horribly when many characters appear on the screen at the same time. One of the greatest things in the original was that the hardware managed not to slow down with such amount of detail and characters at once, but sadly enough this is not the case with Metal Slug 2. The slowdown isn’t very noticeable in the first level, but later on you’ll experience lagging as if you were on some really bad drugs or walking at the moon. This makes it hard to avoid bullets and some times it’s also very hard to time jumping over gaps or between enemy fire. The Metal Slug feeling itself does also vanish when everything moves at just a few frames per second. Metal Slug should be fast - not slow.

Found this on gamefaqs, your right T, guess they fixed since MslugX

  13. Ok i have to ask this, i posted on Gogo's site regarding this. Whats the deal with Metal slug 2. Why does this game come to a crawl even with the cpu overclocked at 150. I new that it would slow down bad in the 1st level(just as you reach the first building its really bad when the cpu is at 100%) and the overclock feature fixed it, but today i decided to play it through and in the later levels it got bad. I dont understand this, considering it plays all the other Mslug games perfect. Can this be fixed? is there a configuration that works? Thanks

  14. Thanks, that clears things up. Oh and just a little observation, when you run packbat it automatically renames the Xbe to default. Dont know why you need to use renamebat. You would only need to use it if you did not compress the Xbe. But you could still do it manually if you want to. One more thing is the latest build compatible with the new Universe bios 2.2?

  15. ok i got the game and i will take back what i said, because i think this has to be a port. there is no way with ps2's limited ram this game plays as well as it does. the max gear thing at the opening is strange, never saw that on other ports. maybe just a recreation of arcade for detail. anyway it plays well cant complain. but just for the record these roms running on Fbaxxx pro destroy this version

  16. well that's bulsh_t, if it is its a crappy one at best, if i want real emulation i will use Fbaxxxpro, Mamedox/128plus ect. Confirm this crap please then send the source code to those guys. Its funny how a professional team of programers cant code an emu like the people in the scene who put alot of effort into these projects and dont get paid. when i get a hold on this you can bet i have Isobuster in my future to see whats going on

  17. I know this is off topic in this forum, but i think this is the best place to ask. I was reading threads regarding the new Last Blade double pack for Ps2 and some people think this is running on a emu being it that its a little slow. I ask this also because i am almost sure Metal Slug 3 (visuals are low res and fuzzy, like a crappy software filter, and it plays way faster than the arcade) for Xbox is running on a Snk coded emu compared to the recent double pack of 4 and 5 which im sure is a port, as is the Ps2 version. What do you guys think? Do you think they use emus on their games(kinda like the Sega did with the smash pack, Segagen)

    Quote from gamefaqs

Volume 2 of the Neo-Geo online collection, The Last Blade 1&2, is now available in Japan. Both games are straight ports; nothing has been added, and it appears that SNK Playmore has decided to go the emulation route with these titles, as booting each game up brings up exactly what you'd get on the Neo-Geo, "Max 330 Mega/Giga Power" boot screen and all.

  18. Both patches need to be applied to the latest FBA-XXX. It would be pointless to have patches work with previous versions because, as you point out, they aren't available any more.

For ms4plus, take all the necessary ROMs as listed in Romcenter, and zip them up together as a self-contained set called 'ms4plus.zip'. It should boot and play just fine.

T can you test your propatch2 from the link, i merged my ms4plus rom with the other two in the set, and it still hangs, i re-downloaded propatch 2 and still no luck. propatch 1 works fine though, i also erased my T and U data saves in fff0504 just to be sure. thanks
