  1. This may be dumb, but why do the roms change in some sets, and who decides which ones are the most accurate. Lets say Ms5boot plays fine with 1.09 roms and was correct at the time of the last update, then whats the difference now. Are we just updating these because these dumps are recent, and who's to say that the older ones are not superior or equal. Can't there just be a [!] at the end of an arcade rom and just call it a day. These games have been in the arcades for years, did the people who dumped it not get it right the first time, or is this just not an exact science yet. Sorry to be a pain, but im starting to think if i cant gain performance or emulation accuracy by updating roms for games then what is the point other than being able to play new roms and PD games.   2. Fixed incorrect kf2k2mp2 P2 ROM

     

    I assume this rom is fine, because everything shows up ok with the new dat on RC

     

    Ok just tried to play it and it says im missing that rom(P2), i quess the dat was not upated, what's the crc?

     

     

    Rc is saying i have that rom and shows up green, but when i open up the file that rom is not present, is this a problem with the dat or is it me?

     

     

    Looked into this more, in the directory of my roms it does show up yellow saying available in another game, so i fixed it, i quess its fine. I have not tried it yet though, if that rom is in another game, then which one. Im lost, just when i thought i knew RC im stumped again

     

    Ok, i think i figured it out, but it still seems strange to me though

  3. +T+ May i suggest just for the hell of it including packbat in the next release or just compressing the xbe. From my personal experience the emu runs faster and more predictable in this state. Also you dont get the hicups that happen every now and then when uncompressed. I have a 1.1 xbox maybe its just me though. Gogo did mention a performance increase a while back, not with game emulation but i think he meant was in navigating the emu and initial bootup and stability. Cant put my finger on it, it just feels right compressed

  4. +T+ two small observation about the emu, wanted to know if you noticed this(im probably being anal). When you scroll quickly through the NeoGeo roms in the menu it pauses slightly on the Samsho5 special sets and a few others i cant name right now. Just wanted to know why that is(no big deal). The other thing is a little strage after the last update and swapping default xbe's i noticed that when i went to toggle between cpu speeds on Neo games when I'm in a game it lags between selections( its worse if the set is encypted and less is decrypted, Metal slug 4 for example, you can hear the HD access between selection as well) As an experiment i swapped xbe's and used 1.01, it did not work, still did it. Then i went back to 1.08a and deleted fff504 in E and T Data as well as ini and cfg in the root, and presto it was fine. Just a few observations, gameplay seems fine though. Thanks

  6. Prican are you uping the 1.08 update soon ? thanks, and by the way i must have been under a rock, because this newsgroup thing is incredible (8 slots at 1.7 Mbps down, now im spoiled) if it were not so expensive i would give up BT forever

     

    one more thing, are the par2 files i see on many posts automatically created when upping by the server or do you create them?

  7. thats a par2 file which can recover/make missing/bad files. you need quickpar to use them and also note that par2s in the post are for the complete romset and not just the roms in the post.

     

    after the post of the 1.07 update, i'll work on  an 1.08 update.

     

     

    so is that like a rar archive, need all the pars? oh and Prican can you tell me the address i use to connect with Optimum online i have it to(im in NY) Is it any good and can i get on the groups you posted the romset with it? Thanks

  8. Just tried newsgroups for the first time(Giga news+Grabit), and i have to say this is good stuff. The speeds are really good. Prican nice post, i dloaded up to part 11 of your 1.07 update(i know your still upping more), are you gonna include the 1.08 update as well. Oh and what is the vol.406+44.Par2 file? Thanks

  9. - Old "misaligned character sprites in the mvsc ending" bug, which was fixed in Final Burn v0.26, exists in both FBA-XXX and Pro. This is fixed in most other emulators, although I was unable to find the exact lines of code to fix this problem.

    Do you have any more info on how the mvsc bug was fixed? Or do you know of an older version of FBA/FBA-XXX in which it was not present?

     

    I've spent the past few days trying out as many different builds of FBA that I could find (including the latest v0.2.95.23), and the verdict is all of the versions I tested have this bug. With that said, I will make the logical assumption that this bug has always existed in FBA-XXX/Pro, seeing as how both use FBA for their base code.

     

    I know it's fixed in Final Burn v0.26 and in MAME, and although I cannot find the location of the fix within the Final Burn source, I have found the MAME fix -- within "src\vidhrdw\cps1.c" (just search for Marvel). Hopefully it's possible to grab the needed code from the MAME source, and not only from a FBA derivative.....

  10. +T+ just curios how does this happen to certain games when you add some sets and fix small bugs?

    This particular problem is due to the addition of the MAME sets. Some of the bootlegs added to MAME are unlike any of the sets that have been supported by FBA-XXX Pro previously in that they use encrypted C ROMs as well as a seperate S ROM.

     

    To be more specific, sets that have encrypted C ROMs usually do not need an S ROM since the text layer data is contained in the C ROMs and is extracted as part of the decryption process. However when you try to load a seperate S ROM as well as decrypting the C ROMs it seems to cause a conflict which is why you get the graphics corruption you see on the screen.

     

    So there are two possible solutions. 1) Go back to using decrypted C ROMs for the affected bootleg sets (easy to do) or 2) find a way of decrypting the C ROMs that does not cause conflict with the custom S ROM (no chance without help from iq).

     

    Will keep you posted as things progress.

     

    +T+ so the last few builds were using the decrypted c roms (such as the C's from Mslug4d). I think thats what you mean. Because in the latest dat its borrowing the C's from the main set(mslug4)
