  2. WASHINGTON (CNN) -- U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has submitted his resignation to President Bush, the White House said on Monday.

National security adviser Condoleezza Rice is the "likely" choice to succeed Powell, a senior U.S. official told CNN.

Rice is "the president's choice," and an announcement is likely this week, another senior U.S. official said.

Powell is the most prominent of four Cabinet officials whose resignations were announced Monday by the White House.

The others were Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman, Education Secretary Rod Paige and Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham.

Powell told his senior staff that he planned to stay on until a replacement was confirmed, State Department officials said.

  3. NASA is set to launch a jet over the Pacific Ocean today that will be ten times the speed of sound or approximately 7,000 miles per hour! The X-43 scramjet is expected to reach Mach 10 and maintain it for 10 seconds. The unmanned jet measures 12 feet long and 5 feet wide and will be lifted into the air by a Pegasus rocket. The rocket will take the plane up to 110,000 feet where then the plane will take off on its own.

"What we're trying to do is really get to the reality of flight — find out what does work, what doesn't work. So there is risk in this program. We fully anticipate that we've reduced that risk to acceptable levels but you never are sure, especially in doing something for the first time, going Mach 10, until we actually fly." said Vince Rausch, the program manager of the Hyper-X program.

The X-43A will be launched today at 1:00 P.M. Pacific Time.

    :D

  4. Gmail has recently added POP3 services to their free email accounts. This would allow someone to use gmail without ever seeing any of their advertisements. They are also providing SMTP, both POP3 and SMTP are forcing the use of SSL/TLS. Very interesting...now where's IMAP and what's the catch?" It's being phased in, though, so not every gmail account yet has POP access.

Finally this is what I've been waiting for. GMail is officially the best free email provider.

    :D
