  1. You might also try GrabIt by Shemes http://www.shemes.com/index.php?p=download as it's really easy to setup and use. I don't think you can post with it though, mostly download stuff. Some newsgroups to get things are: alt.binaries.cd.image.playstation2 alt.binaries.cd.image.xbox alt.binaries.emulators.neogeo
  2. Use MAMEoX and not Mame-X as it's the successor to it. Also, you can find all the standard pre-compiled binaries at the usual places (Xbins FTP). Playing older games works fine, but the newer stuff won't work until VMM is implemented like Prican said.
  3. If you still have the original Xbox DVD-Rom drive you'll have to build an xISO disc of the files you want and then burn that ISO with any standard CD-Burning software. You have to see if your DVD-ROM will accept CD-Rs as most of them don't and some drives are finicky with different brands of media. Once that's done, you should be able to read the disc in the Xbox and you can use any standard file manager to transfer them (like Boxplorer or UnleashX's built in File Manager).
  4. FBA-XXX does the most right now and has a very innovative menu, lots of bug fixes from lantus version, multiple skins, etc. If you're looking for the "special" version of fba-xxx, it's been talked about here http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php...opic=6292&st=30 You will need to get the original from xbins or the fba-xxx official site and replace the xbe.
  5. Here's what I had to change: svcbl -- don't have sngoku3n -- unzip & rename according to the romsets.txt (the p1 has a wrong crc, but will still work) mslug4n -- unzip & rename the files accordingly. Also build the m1 to 128k. Lastly rename the rom to mslug4nd.zip mslug5n -- unzip & rename kof2k2nd -- rename file to kof2002nd cthd2k3 -- unzip & rename pim -- unzip & rename. Build the m1 to 256k. rotd -- unzip & rename. Build the m1 to 128k. Rename file to rotdn.zip Hope that helps, 'cause that's what I did to make my roms work and they work fine with the latest FBA-XXX and the ROM set I acquired was from Ghost's 2.1 version of FBAX (I'm assuming the same roms worked in future releases, just more games were added). Oops, forgot to add how you re-build the m1s. Check here: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6458 and make sure you use the /b option with copy.
  6. I'm using ones from The Street Fighter Organization. You can get them here http://streetfighterx.org/index.php under Gallery, then Wallpapers. They have some pretty good wallpapers to use for skins.
  7. Thanks for the file HK$!! I can't believe there's already a new 4-20 version!! Time to go searching again...
  8. Ah, I just read that over on the other forums. Next prob is that I have the clean version with the banned roms disabled.
  9. Well I just picked it up and my roms don't show up unless I rescan for them. The thing is I have to rescan for them everytime. They won't stay there if I change menus. Anyone else having this problem??
  10. Excellent, I'll try it out later tonight. I figured I could possibly put them together like that, but wasn't sure if it would work correctly in the emulator. Thanks guys!
  11. Okay, I'm using a set of ROMS that were verified for FBAx-Ghozt with the new FBA-XXX and I've got the ROMS and pieces named correctly, however there's a couple of pieces which have the wrong size and won't run. Is there a way for me to "build" them to a different size?? For instance, these are the pieces that I'm trying to get the right size: 264-m1.bin from rotdn.zip needs to be size 128k (mine's currently 64k) 266-m1.bin from pim.zip needs to be size 256k (mine's currently 128k) 263-m1.bin from mslug4nd.zip needs to be 128k (mine's currently 64k) Are there some tools I can use to achieve this or would someone be willing to send me the pieces if you have them??
  12. The one I got was POSTED on the 11th from a Newsgroup, but has the 4 menus for the games. I'm not sure what new features/bug fixes are in the newer one or it might just be a newer compile by somebody.
  13. Doh. I guess I gotta find that one. The one I have was posted 4-11-04 and the CPS 1 & 2 use the same configs while the NeoGeo & Others use a different config.
  14. brightsons, there's actually a better method for fba-xxx that I figured out. I'm using the latest build that has 4 menus (CPS1, CPS2, NeoGeo, Others). The CPS1 & CPS2 Controller configs are tied together and the NeoGeo & Others configs are tied together. Whenever you're in a menu, press the Y Button, this will bring up the controller config. Set it up how you like it and then it will be set for the Group (CPS1 & 2 is one group while NeoGeo & Others is the other). Like I said I've tested this for the new version, but not the older versions. Hope that helps!
  15. 1. There's really no OS unless you intend to put Linux on it. I think the correct term you mean is Dashboard. There are many types based on your preferences. If you wanna start out easy and have one of the most stable, get EvoX first. 2. I think the best ones are the ones done by X-Port http://xport.xbox-scene.com/ They're usually top quality and support many roms. Others like Snes and FBA (the original) are done by Lantus http://www.lantus-x.com/xSnes9x/default.asp The only other one you'll need is MAMEoX. 3. I think the best modchip that's the cheapest is the X2.3b Lite. It does pretty much everything you need (unless you intend to do some programming for the Xbox, then get the Pro). 4. Try System-Mods.com or Modchipman.com. They are the only official resellers for the X2 in the US. If you need a reseller from somewhere else in the world, go to the official website http://www.teamxecuter.com/ 5. The switch is built in with the newer modchips. 6. Not sure what you mean here, but if you wanna get on Xbox Live with this Xbox I would refrain from doing so. Microsoft has not only started checking modified BIOSes, but are now implementing Hard Drive Size checks as well (even though I'm not sure if they've banned anyone with this method yet).
  16. Well if you don't have any soldering experience along with no soldering iron, you should get the Solderless modchip and see how it does for you. Like Prican said, the newer solderless chips have alot better pin design to help keep them in alignment. I'd say go for that since you have no experience and if you do have problems with it aligning, you can decide later whether or not to shell out for the soldered version (as they're fairly cheap anyways).
  17. I'd say the X2.3b Lite as it's the cheapest for probably what you're trying to do (as far as emulation is concerned). I've seen far too many people knock a solderless chip out of alignment and have to open their box just to make it work again. A good soldered modchip won't have that problem and soldering X2s are really easy to do. There's only 1 difficult spot, d0 as it's called, but it's actually quite easy if you use the back d0 point instead of the front one. Note that d0 on the back is different for ver 1.0-1.1 Xboxes than the ver 1.2-1.4 Xboxes so make sure you know which Xbox you have before soldering the back d0 point. Also Team Xecuter's d0 for 1.0-1.1 Xboxes is wrong if you look it up on their side. Search Xbox-Scene for the correct one to use on 1.0-1.1s. What type of experience do you have soldering?
  18. Yeah, I'd have to say get an X2.3b Lite if you're just lookin' to emulate games and play Xbox games off of your HDD. And if you order from system-mods.com, they ship from College Station, TX so if you are in Texas, they get to you VERY quickly. The only people I have ordered from is system-mods.com. Also it seems the only other official US reseller in the US modchipman.com. The rest are in the UK or Canada.
  19. If you're still running a P3 and you put in a 9600XT, then the CPU will be shunting the graphics capabilities of the Graphics card. You want to have a kind of linear fashion with both the CPU and GPU as they go hand in hand. So you're performance hit will probably be more along the lines of an 8500 due to the slower processor holding things back. If you had a P4 running at a 533Mhz bus, then that might be better and getting much better performance out of the graphics card. As for it supporting DDR Ram, it shouldn't matter. The DDR Ram is on the Graphics Card, it doesn't have anything to do with your System. The only thing that will be the bottleneck will be the Processor as the Graphics Card will have to wait for the information from the CPU. Oh and with the card melting in your system, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. The worst that could happen is that your system wouldn't boot because you're Power Supply can't supply enough Watts to the whole System. Just make sure your Power Supply is a 350W and you should have enough to power it up.
  20. .nrg is a Nero Image file and you can burn it with Nero and then rebuild it as an image with CDRWin for use in PCSXBox. You might also try getting Ultra ISO as it will allow you to convert one CD Image File type to another and it supports.nrg (Nero Image Format),.cdj (DiscJuggler Image Format),.iso (Standard ISO Format), and.cue/.bin (CDRWin and other Standard Image format) formats, but I have never tested it out personally.
  21. I have this one I got at Gamestop. Not sure who the manufacturer is, but it supports both PS2 to Xbox and Gamecube. I haven't tried it on the Gamecube, but it works great on the Xbox using StepmaniaX. Only cost $20 too.
  22. I downloaded it again and it seems to be intact. I have a default.xbe and everything. You're getting the one from Xbox/Games/StepmaniaX right?? And it's version 5?? You might try checking the zip file again to make sure that it's 12MB as that was what the final downloaded zip was.
  23. Yes, there is a port of Stepmania called StepmaniaX. You can find it at the usual place of Xbins FTP on EFNet. Also, you can go to www.ddrkuk.com to download all of the official Songs from all the different DDR Mixes.
  24. Hmm, sounds like maybe some bad software. The only problems I get is that it usually needs certain DLL files and those usually come with the program and usually have to be placed in the %SYSTEMROOT%\system32 folder.
  25. I don't think you can come out the back as the cable is too short and designed for the front. You probably could if the cable was long enough or make some sort of custom one that's thinner, so you can go where the AV Port is, but good luck finding those connectors. If you're going to be traveling alot with it, then you'll probably have to realign it if you get FRAG when you get to your destination. That d0 point is VERY picky about being aligned correctly and the slightest jolt could cause it to be out of alignment. If you're really going to be traveling, it would be much better to solder it in. Realigning it would require to open up the Xbox everytime and also pull out the Hard Drive and DVD-Rom just to get to the chip and then spend time aligning it. To me, it wouldn't be worth the effort as soldering is a one shot deal if it's done correctly.
