  1. I know there would be memory issues, the xbox has 64 megs of ram, and KOF2003 is about forty megs. right?  I think win98 needs very little ram to run, probably just three or four, and linux about the same.

I think what's important is the uncompressed size (about 90 megs for kof2003), not the zipped one; please correct me if I'm wrong.

If you already have Linux on your XBox, why not just use XMame (mame's port to *nix systems)? This would not eliminate the memory issue, but at least it would be a soulution to the performance one.

  2. MERCS (I don't think anyone SANE has ever beaten this game)

In the "I don't think anyone SANE has ever beaten this game" style, there's "Shadow of the beast" on Genesis.

This game is sooo hard! And without a save system.

I managed to end this game with a friend, but we definitely had to use the emulator's save state function.

Really a great game! I recommend it to anyone who likes gaming challenges

  3. That's right, you can get very high speed on kazaa if you get the right source. But if you don't...

That's where bittorrent is good: you're connected to many people at once. Not comparable with edonkey though, where you have to wait for someone to send you the file: there everyone downloads and uploads the same file.

Try checking your upload speed (it is linked to your dl speed). And remember: P2P has always a part of hazard (any P2P program).

  4. Ok, I tried using Bit Torrent 3.3 the other day, and I couldn't figure out why everybody talks about this system. I use Kazaa ++ Lite, and I find that works alot better. Sure, Bit has alot of the harder to find stuff, but are transfer rates of only 1 or 2KB/s normal?

Uh? I usually download at about 30 or 40 KB/s on bittorrent (much much more than on any other P2P programs I've tried)... One thing to keep in mind about bittorrent: your dl speed is proportionnal to your upload speed

  5. OK, I hadn't seen this post.

Well, well, well... I guess it's hopeless

Tidus, instead of an emulator, consider beginning with a "HelloWorld" type program (a program whose only purpose is to write "HelloWorld" on screen, or even only on a console)

  6. Tidus, do you already have a big programming experience? What do you want to program with it? I don't have much programming experience myself but if it's an interesting project I may try to help (within the limits of what I can do of course)

Tidus wants to make an emulator. :) And no, he has no programming experience, why would he ask what's C++?

    P.S. No offence to Tidus.

I thought maybe he doesn't know this compiler but knows a bit of programming :)

Anyway, writing an emu without any programming experience is... well, if you really don't know anything about programming as Agozer thinks, good luck

I'd still like to know from Tidus himself if he has or not programming experience and what his project is ;)

  7. As for your perception of what hacking is...  shut the hell up.  now.  I percieve you to be some sort of script kiddie, or a wannabe.

Who was not a wannabe before knowing something? In any domain? No need to get angry because someone is asking infos...

So if you're out their to cause trouble, I encourage a mod to delete this thread.

 Did you see what Alexis is before saying such a thing?

Anyway, you're still right, hacking is what made all this possible... as it made emulation possible :)

  8. Tidus, do you already have a big programming experience? What do you want to program with it? I don't have much programming experience myself but if it's an interesting project I may try to help (within the limits of what I can do of course)

  9. actually, idk if you guys discussed this in the kof2003 thread, but Razoola(known dumper of cps 1 and 2 games, and master decryptor of cps2 and neogeo) and El Semi(creator of nebula) are making threats towards this release. Razoola stated that 1)no more XOR's will be released and 2)I guess he had been working for a while on this, but in secret, but he said that he will stop his attempt towards cps3 emulation. El Semi just...stated that nebula would not be updated anymore.

sorry if you discussed this before. Anyways, yeah, so...what would you rather choose? One single lil' neogeo rom that will probably suck? or some fun ass cps2 games and some ever so new cps3 games?

I've heard the same rumor, it was denied somewhere, but I've seen no evidence that Razoola and El Semi intend to stop or that they do not. Is it on one of these guys' website or is it really just a forum thing? And if it is, do we know where the original post is?

  10. Except Bush, the only one I've heard of is Howard Dean. He seems ok to me, but I don't know enough about him and his program.

But I won't vote (in this poll :P ) because I only know who I wouldn't vote for if I was american: Bush :P

Btw, universal suffrage is much better than your actual system (that's a personal opinion, but at least it's much more representative of the people's choice).

  11. From DC, to Overnet, then TO THE WORLD!!!

Really though, when the ROM is complete, who is going to host it? Or is the ROM going to be solely based on P2P networks?

If so, then hash files would be needed fast.

Just putting some thinking in for the near future :P

Don't worry, once we'll have it, it'll spray FAST! :P

  12. 20$??? :P

That's a good price to play Capcom vs Snk 2 and many other great games :)

If I find one at this price I won't wait for a Dreamcast emulator after all :P

Btw, I've heard Cvs2 is much better than CvS1. I've only played CvS2, and it rocks!

SNK adaptations for Dreamcast were usually very good, so you should also try getting Garou: MOTW and the last KOF (not sure if it's 2001 or 2002).

  13. Am I the only one that thinks it's funny that a game by japanese people uses "dudes" 2-3 times in the ending for the hero team :P

As soon as the p1 rom comes out will it be a big step in the emulation?

Before all the roms are out, there won't be much progress...

And for emulating it, there are a few emulators floating around that supposedly already support it. We'll know if they really do once we'll have all the roms...

About the "dudes" thing, as long as it's in english the characters would say the same thing if the programmers were from United States, Somalia or any other place in the world :P

(And it's also meant to be sold in the US)
