  1. I like those suggestions. I've done a couple of those myself (as I'm sure many people have). KawaX SE now shows up as "KawaX SE" in my dashboard and I have now changed the folder where it saves to on my XBOX (thanks to faceless).

But if MrX doesn't feel like doing that, that's cool too... I just want Metal Slug 5 and I'll be estatic! :P

  2. Yeah, I thought it sucked that it got leaked, but I couldn't resist either. I've been playing with it a bunch today. I really like how they have the box art for every US release and that the emu automatically displays the box art in the game list for the ROMS you have loaded. Very nice touch. Then being able to try out each game with of the 3 emulator engines is also very cool.

I've got a Zelda: OoT game started using the 1964 engine. Everything runs pretty smoothly, only a few missing texture here and there. The game menu (where you select your equipment) runs a bit slowly, but that's not a big deal. Hopefully some of these issues will be fixed with the updated 1964 engine. But it's very playable right now.

  3. Don't change the ROM or media paths. It's a common mistake for people to think they need to change the "D" to "F". "D" is the directory from which the default.xbe was launched. So change the paths back to "D:\Roms\" and "D:\Media\" and it will work.

Also, make sure you update to the official release when it gets released in a few days. The leaked version is using an older version of the 1964 engine than the official release will be using.

Also, did you get any of my PMs about Gate of Thunder and Lords of Thunder over on the Xbox-Scene forums?

  4. Yes, it does matter. There are two versions of the Goldeneye ROM... a 12 MB version and a 16 MB version. The 16 MB version is an overdump and will likely fail everytime. The UltraXLE engine should run Goldeneye very well.

Also, I want to point out one thing. This leaked version is using an older version of the 1964 emulator! A new version of 1964 for the PC was released on January 1st (1964) and this new version will be incorporated into the official public release of Surreal64. The final version is set to be launched in a few days. So if you are using the leak you will want to update as soon as the new version hits (it's supposed to be much better... the new 1964 engine that is).

  5. seriously, this is nothing more then being picky at something that really doesn't matter lol. just enjoy the fact that you can play the banned games as is

Picky or not, he doesn't want to keep hitting rescan when it takes KawaX a while to scan through his thousands of ROMs. You don't have all your ROMs in one spot so it only takes a split second to scan. He does have them all grouped together and would like to be able to avoid having to rescan each time since it takes longer than normal.

    Faceless,

Could you please tell us how you did it?

  6. i just love the fact i can finally play smash bros and goldeneye again

Goldeneye has always worked with UltraXLE, but you had to have the 12 MB ROM and not the 16 MB overdump. It runs pretty well on UltraXLE, but it did have a few bugs here and there. My biggest problem with it was that the analog control seemed a bit jumpy (i.e. when trying to do some precise aiming with the crosshairs). How does it control on the new emu?

  7. Im asking how to change the internal titleid which determines the directory in which files are saved. For Kawa-x its '0000FA7E'

Yeah, I tried out dexbe and saw titleid listed there. I didn't realize that was what the term for the saves folder. I couldn't get any changes to the name to stick either using dexbe. I've posted a thread over at Xbox-Scene to see if anyone there can help.

  8. man seriously get real lol , it only takes 1 sec to press a button to rescan also you gotta remember, both N3oGhost and Mr. X don't have the source to kawa-x as is to even make a drastic change so just deal with it

He's not saying it's difficult, only that it takes a while to scan. Think about it... if he's got all his ROMs in one directory (NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, 2600, Lynx, SMS, GG, GB, etc...) there may be over 10,000 ROMs for KawaX to scan. Also, how do you know it's even a drastic change? I think that is why he is asking... he has no idea if it's hard or not. He just wanted to know if it's possible.

  9. well kawa-x se supports what like 8games?

how about just putting those roms in the kawa-x se roms directory and mapping it to that?

that way it just deals with its roms and kawa-x deals with its own?

its not like youll have to move a lot of roms to accomplish this.

    just a suggestion

He will still have the same problem. Both the stock KawaX and KawaX SE save to the same spot. So even if he puts the KawaX SE ROMs in their own directory the next time he starts up KawaX0.11 he will have to rescan because only the ROMs for SE will show up initially. Well, all the KawaX0.11 ROMs are still going to be stored with his thousands of other ROMs, so each time he runs KawaX0.11 it will still take a while to rescan. Your suggestion will only shorten the time to rescan when he runs SE.

  10. you just gotta remember to press x to refresh for new roms if you switch between emus and enjoy it

That's the part he's trying to avoid. He stores all of him ROMs for all his emulators in one spot (I'm assuming there must be thousands) so it takes KawaX longer to scan them all than it does for those of us who store our ROMs in separate folders for each emulator. He wants KawaX0.11 and KawaX SE to store their data in different spots so he doesn't have to rescan each time.

  11. When you refer to the "titleid" are you talking about the name that appears on your dashboard? Those are easy to change. You can change them using a hex editor.

I've changed mine to say "KawaX SE" on my dashboard, but it doesn't change where it saves to so I still have to rebuild everytime. If you figure out how to change that let me know.

  12. if i already have svc plus working on kawax plus, when i overwrite the kawaxplus default xbe will i have to rename the svc roms in the zip?

Overwrite the KawaX PLUS xbe with the one for SE? Yes, you will need to rename the ROM files. You will also need the original P and M roms instead of the ones from the KawaX PLUS download.

If you need pictures of the ROM zips or the P and M ROMs just send me a PM (with your e-mail addy) or message me on AIM.

  13. glad that you like kawa-x se but its Mr X who did it not Thraxen

He was referring to when I put PLUS with all the ROMS on Bittorrent. I guess he's assuming I will do the same for SE. Which, actually, I am. But I was hoping to get a fix for RotD before I did (and now I'm hoping to include MS5 too).
