I can see the point on that. (Hence why I said it)
But what about the first part?
Vintage computer emulation should have it's own. They aren't infact Consoles.
-
AvP emulation still needs some work till I consider it playable.
Menu's in-game are unreadable for me. And occasionaly it gets uber slow, though the framerate is solid at 60fps.
It's a huge leap, but it's still not at a playable state IMHO.
-
Where is the Vintage Computer emulation forum?
Things like the Amiga, Atari XL's and ST, Apple II, Amstrad CPC.
I'm quite fond of those old suckers. And love toying around with XL/ST emulation.
I think we should have a forum for systems that didn't do so hot. Like the Jag, the 3DO and others like that. I know I can help mucho on the Jaguar front (Me Atari freak) and Baseley sure knows his stuff about some of the strangest/rarest consoles ever/never released.
I know, some could think "well that just belongs in General Console Emulation"..........but I don't believe so.

you can also use ftp with flashget download manager
Yep but unless it has it's own way of intitially connecting to my FTP and browsing it. Download managers are NOT supported on my FTP.
The way it works is like this:
Internet Browser makes initial connection to my FTP
Download manager tries to make secondary connection to obtain file.
This can't be done...........only one connect per IP is allowed.
Thus download managers without an internal FTP client, and one's supporting Multi-Part/Source downloads wont work.
Infact.......some people have been banned for the 5 minute interval because of their multi-part download managers "Hammering" my server for a secondary connect. This is set by me, but it's all automatic. The server bans/unbans all on its own based on those settings.
Server details can be found in my thread for my FTP.

how do you use FTP everytime i click on cinder's FTP links they dont work
The most likely cause of a link not working is that the account you tried to access is full. Internet browsers absolutley suck for FTP IMHO. They don't inform you of nuthin!
I get alot of emails/PM's asking 'Whats the password?"........well, you're web browser is asking for a password again (They are already included in the links) because the account is full.
I do however sometimes have the server down for a reason. But thats usually only like 2-3 hours in total a week, at any given time.
Server reboots at 12PM every day, but it only takes 1 minute 47 seconds (As per my log file) to reboot and be back up serving files. (Pretty fast no?)

Trust me....when the time comes that I say goodbye to that forum for good.
You can rest assured I will go out with a BANG.
I'm sure those of you that have read my posts (The ones besides the helpful/informative ones) know exactly how I can be.
So just add "I'm leaving for good" to the equation, and I'm sure you can picture it.

Thats right...........I'm playing a 50/50 split of my time on here and A@H now.
The more this place livens up, the more I'll be here, and less at A@H.
I'm getting sick and f*cking tired of the way things are over there now.
It's all CURRENT AFFAIRS, bible thumping and spamming now.
With only a select few of us actually contributing to what it's really about. Games!
Now I don't mind Current Affairs, with some goofy stuff.
But if you go look.........the entire past week has been crap!
I look forward to spending more of my posting time here, where it can be qualitive and not quantative/retarded!

I have a cheat.dat for Mame on my ftp.
I never used it..........but to test it on some games. Works fine.
It is however from v0.56, and I've not come across a newer cheat.dat for Mame.
Download it with this link
ftp://mame:aah@cinder.serveftp.com/Extras/cheat.zip
Use that until someone clues us both into a newer cheat.dat.
I'd like to update the misc stuff on my server like that, but I've not come across anything newer.
Thanks to whoever points us in the right direction.
P.S. Just enable cheats in default options in Mame32, and use TAB in game to access cheats and enable/disable them.
If not using Mame32.........sorry, can't help.

I HATE ADVERTS AND ALWAYS WILL.
I only watch TV for sports now, and sometimes the odd sitcom. I have digital satelite with well over 350 channels. 250 of those channels suck ass. But it costs less than cable, and looks/sounds way better (Even the so called digital cable that 90% of the channels are still analog. Seen it, know about the technology, so plz don't argue the fact with me. lol)
As for Advertisements/Commercials.
What do you think the shows are? Thats not the point of TV....people, the commercials are the point of TV, thats where the money is made. The shows are just the filler to keep you tuned in to see the money making ads.
The only way you can avoid them is with premium subscription stations. Which are ridiculous in $, and generally suck uber ass compared to normal stations as for their content.
In the end..........TV only sucks if you're watching the wrong channels, at the wrong time. But I still don't watch much.

I think I'm clueing into what you want more here.........
Like this?
CD#1
x rom
x rom
etc etc
CD#2
x rom
x rom
etc etc
So you can find a specific rom/game in a list, and just pull the corresponding CD out right?
If thats the case, just audit the CD, and keep the xxxHave.txt and rename it according to the CD. Then you will know what roms are on that CD.
You can just copy/paste into one text file, from each xxxhave.txt, if there are more than one system on the CD.
And import it into Execel as well if you like.
You could also go the length of alphabetizing all the audits of you're CD's into one text file, and just putting a -CD#1 or -CD#2 beside the rom names.
Like this.........I'll use my fav game for an example
Super Metroid (JU) [!].zip - CD#1
Super Metroid (E) [!].zip - CD#2
Get what I mean?
-
ME!
That's an auditing tool for CD based systems.
-
Hmm now I get you. Sort of.
Maybe thats a feature request you could submit to Eric Boyle-Feysot (The author of Romcenter). Have it remember rom paths from a CD based on the disc's Label. That way, if you stuck a CD in labelled "Roms 1" it would remember that specific CD, as opposed to another CD you have labelled "Roms 2".
I'm not so sure how viable that is.
Another thing to do is audit you're CD, save the have/miss lists for what is on them, check the next CD, save lists........and copy/paste into first list updating the #'s if there are roms from 1 system on 2 CD's.
-
Oh so you want to write you're own DAT?
But for multiple systems on one DAT?
I hope thats not what you mean, because it simply isnt a logical way to do things.
-
What do you mean?
Organize based on system, and keep only good roms?
Use Cowering's Goodxxx tools to audit you're roms (This is console/handhelds only. I suggest Romcenter for anything else)
-
Can't nobody hold me down! Can't nobody close my FTP!
Oh no! I got to keep on movin (them files)!
lol

Ah sure, he can be a dickhead.
But he just likes to stir the pot once in a while (Kinda like me, except he's more blunt most of the time)
Maybe you've never seen my rants? I can get downright abusive, given just cause. lol
-
Why not use you're avatar from A@H?
I think its a good one.
-
HAHAHA sounds like some X-Files geek, getting ready to put up some ridiculous pictures.
Don't get me wrong, I believe in life forms from other planets, but that the majority of us wouldn't know for a fact they have been/are on earth, is a crock. It's doubtable anything has the means with which to reach our planet, and that if they do..........they even know we are here.
-
Who deleted my reply in here?
Can't take someone agreeing with "ME!" and sporting some intelligence while doing it?
You only make yourself look like an idiot, whoever you are.
-edit
It appears EVERY post I made last night is gone. Must be a result of the changeover.
I actually started making some good posts, and frequent ones.........now look, they're all gone.
-
I'm a good A@H member..........you love me don't you?
Freaked me out when I came here today, with the new look. It's great though.

http://www.multimania.lycos.fr/
50MB of space, PHP4/CGI/MySQL support. No bandwidth restricts like Gheyocities does to you.
Provided you can read en francais, or manage to navigate (which really isn't hard to figure out what is what, when signing up anyway) by trying to follow along, it's the best free service I've found.
I also wrote an anti-ad script for this place, as my website (which hasn't been updated since Feb) is located there.

What softwere did you use?

No that wold be good ol BASIC.
Thanks for the quick insight on some short programs in C++
I've been looking for an excuse to crack open my Viz studio 6 CD's, and something simple like this may just gimme a bit more of a push.

Hi everyone!
I haven't read a decent book in years.
The only book I'm reading currently, is a 2002-2003 Tech school courses and information book. Time to upgrade mah skillz.

Yoshi's Island for the GBA has the option of playing the original Mario Bros, but the main game looks like a direct port of the SNES game Yoshi's Island. They may have added some levels, but I doubt it.
As for Metroid Fusion. I've played it and beat it. 3:58 on my first time through with 40% item collection. (I beat it with only 8 of 20 energy tanks too)
I'm playing another one, where I'm easily more than 1/2 way through the game, and only 0:56 into it. I'll have it beat in under 2 hours this time around.
