Have you tried last.fm or pandora? I get bored with my music alot and use them...pandora is really good with finding new artists...and they are usually really good...i think 1emu has a last.fm group too...i dont know, these are where i go to get new music inputs...

Being a Chemical Engineering major, my professors work a ton in the nanotech field (almost exclusively in fact) and some of the stuff they are working on is amazing. My favorite applications are in the biomedical field though...molecules designed to hold other molecules for medicinal transport...its so cool..
