Btw Old School Sonic > 3d Sonic, I've played most of the Sonic games and beaten them (Some I haven't played are the Game Gear ones like the racing, CD(I'm actually *cough*buying*cough* this one atm), and Knuckles Chaotic). I still prefer Sonic 2 the most (I beat it with Super Sonic cheat every now and then because it's fun as hell), but a lot consider Sonic CD to be the best one, I can't wait to find out whether or not that's true .
Agozer Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Heh, Knuckles Chaotix was probably the best game 32X had to offer and even that wasn't saying much. Sonic CD on the other hand was great, and it was probably the best game Sega CD had.

This is what Hidden Palace Zone might have looked like~ On the topic of Sonic though, I think 2 is in every way better than Sonic CD. When I finally got round to playing it I was sorely disappointed. It has a few good ideas in it, but nothing more. Poor execution above all else made that game a chore to play for me.

Well I spent about 2 hours trying to make the stupid music tracks work on Sonic CD, finally got it to work and now I'm 5 acts into the game, so far, it's fun because, a 'new' sonic game for me . But I'm starting to get the feeling that the Past,Present,Future poles really serve no REAL purpose in the game but to change the way a level looks and track..

The modern Sonic is an abomination of his once great self... it's absolutely sickening. The thread was already over when you said that.

I honestly don't see what there is to like about Sonic these days. I have to cling for dear life to my fond memories to resist trashing the series now.
olaf Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 DragonKeeper, they started the trashing with Sonic 3D Blast. It was a horrible game and they even ported it to the Sega Saturn. Our next slap in the face was making Sonic R such a short game (it could've been one of the greatest racers). The final blow before they started hauling everything to the landfill, was scrapping Sonic Xtreme... and it's all downhill from there and its lifeless corpse is beaten to this day.
Agozer Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Sonic started to go south with the advent of Sonic Adventure. Granted, SA and its sequel are pretty good games, but they're nowhere near the 2D Sonics. If I had to pick a 3D Sonic that I like, it would be Sonic Heroes.

I don't mean to say that Sonic Adventure and beyond are absolutely horrible games or anything to that effect... but they ARE desecrating, what we thought was, the untouchable Sonic video game lineage. That's like all the sudden coming out with a 3D Metal Slug that's nothing like the old games (or it completely sucks, whatever)... it would mortify the SNK Playmore world. You know you're a real Sega/Sonic fan if you're offended by the current state of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. I know I am (both). Edited July 9, 2007 by Agozer
BlackKnight Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Dunno if you realised or not, but there is a 3d Metal Slug. Yes it does suck, but at least they went and made Metal Slug 6 afterward. If they went back and made a decent 2d Sonic again, for the PSP maybe (I consider the Sonic Advance games trash) with all the old flavour, you can bet I'd be first in line for it.
