Madman Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 i used DJ 3.5 as far as i can remember. It worked just fine with 90% of the games, and the rest i didnt bother about.i guess you can find it on that donkey
neozeed Posted March 15, 2006 Posted March 15, 2006 I could be wrong but I think the advice you got was to mount the image to a vr drive using Daemon and just do a disc copy using nero.So maybe you should just try to mount the image you have, dont use any tools on it and burn a copy.
Shibathedog Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 IJTF the newest version of Discjuggler seems to have alot of the bugs fixed, i like it But still, for burning images get Alcohol, and for making your own discs get Nero, and thats all you really need
nerdocalypse Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 thanks for your advice, allsince i tried everything, i decided to just get a version 1 dreamcast (no. 1 n the circle on the bottom label). i know some people think that all dcs will work with backups, but i dont think so. the version 2's, like the one i was using, will not work. i'm sure the above techniques will work without a hitch on the ver1 DC.
Shibathedog Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 no seriously there is only ONE version of the DC that will not work, and its REALLY REALLY REALLY rare, i DOUBT you got one, it was in the last batch of DCs made, and it even has trouble burning certain commercial games (Grandia 2 for example) I forget what it says at the bottom, probably a 2001 manufacture date late in the year though
nerdocalypse Posted March 20, 2006 Author Posted March 20, 2006 but its true, the dcs from october 2000 onwards will not even play music cdrs. testing a music cdr with no success was the last straw for me. maybe some of those exceptionally complicated techniqques like the one i posted above (where you have to screw around with the image files through 5 different programs!) would work, but i can honestly say that i dont recommend even trying it, as i spent and wasted a lot of time. it would have been less costly had i decided right after seeing that circled 2 on the system to just buy an earlier console. now that i have, i can finally enjoy the vcd playing, emulating, backuping goodness of a DC.
Shibathedog Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 hmmm weird, you might have gotten one of those odd ones then, i have a couple version 2s that work fine with everything and lke 1 that does that, i dont really understand why, sega wanted ub3r piracy protection i guess
nerdocalypse Posted July 27, 2006 Author Posted July 27, 2006 okay this is really weird... i guess i should have listened more closely to you guys! my first dreamcast (the one i said would not play any burned games) --- well, now it plays ALL the games that i burned for my 'replacement' DC... wtf? I don't get it, but for anyone's future reference, it seems that any ISO can be played on the model 2 dreamcasts if burned with a120% at up to 24X using RAW DAO. So don't make the mistake I made and waste money on a 2nd dreamcast (although having a DC in two rooms IS pretty cool...\) and just burn games properly! I apologize if I misled anyone before, I swear that not a single game worked... still a mystery to me...
Shibathedog Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 yeah it depends on your burner does yours have Buffer Underrun/Burn-Proof on it? i suspect people who dont have it have these problems because i do and i aways burn at max speed and it works
