  1. Hi. I signed up a looong time ago, posted maybe once wasn't really part of the community. came back maybe a week or 2 ago because I decided to crack out my old roms and was having trouble The community seems alot nicer now and I got some free time so hey! Oo;; I JUST noticed the attack player stuff after i made my last post I was wondering why there was Level and HP and stuff, I thought it was related to your posts... *shrug* i'm unobservant... I'm off to attack people now probably due to obsesssive compulsive ness which many people believe i have. (I hope the attacking thing IS for fun and is not actually ment/taken as a hostile act)
  2. Sorry for reviving a long dead thread, and de-railing it but Encryption meathods are of interest to me and It would be sort of strange to Start a thread with a quote as a first post. Anyway, IQ say Xors are a nasty but effective hack to make the games run... But to my understanding, Xors Decrypt by XORing the file with the key, and Xors are derivied by comparing the Decrypted rom to the encrypted. So I don't understand why he says the CPS2 games havn't been decrypted. I just want to know if i'm completely wrong on how this works, and why emulators don't just run a decrypted rom. The unencrypted game was required to create the xor was it not? and even if not, can't the Xor create a decrypted rom? by the way, I realize IQ is probably not going to reply since this last post was one this thread and it was on november. that's why I refered to him in 3rd person.
  3. Hmm, after reading this thread I decided to do a search for "FAQ" I believe the reason why I did that is obvious... Anyway, apparently there's no FAQ section anywhere on the forums Is there one that exists? One place to have definitions of common terms eg.CRCs or file extensions; or common problems like, a corrupt or outdated rom. Would probably reduce the amount of trouble for everybody. "Fine print": If one doesn't exist, I would be more than happy to create one and post it.
  4. Well, thank you very much in helping me jump back to the emulation scene. also the community seems to have more of an active an friendly aura then when I first saw it a few years back. I plan to stick around and maybe help with the basic emulation troubleshoots. I'm good with those and can provide answers almost by rote. (as many of others around here, ... Probably not the biggest asset to a community, but I do what I can. )
  5. Micmano.net is in french i believe, I cannot read french and therefore am having trouble finding the patches mentioned nor can I follow the instructions (if existant) to patch them. could you post specifically what to click, or possibly a translation? sometimes auto-translators are do-able... not this time though.
  6. I have no idea what specs are relevant... but... Intel Celeron 1.8 Ghz ATI RADEON 8500 on Windows XP Quite a few games... The only ones i can remember right now are Aero Fighters 3 and Samurai Shodown 3 and 4 The graphics look jumbled I can't describe it better than that. uhmn... Text is fine, sprites and images are not.
  7. I don't believe that explains what's happening, because the games still run, It's just the graphics seem corrupt, if you can make out the positions the games are also still playable. also, I am sure the rom is fine because, again, The older version of the emulator runs the roms with no problem. the reason why i believe that it doesn't explain what's happening is because if the drivers were updated because the romsets have changed the CRCs of the old romset wouldn't match and would not be allowed run by the emulator.
  8. Is it possible to load up Universe Bios on an emulator? edit> BTW thanks for the info. I liked the Character select layout of the original SSV though.
  9. Stupid question, but what's the difference between SSV special and the old "normal" one? edit>I'm asking because i want to know if it's worthwhile to find and get the rom working when i have the original,..
  10. For the longest time now, i've been using Kawaks 1.45 and 1.46 because of my lack of motivation to update anything... (i'm still on mozilla firebird now actually ) Anyway, I finally decided to download kawaks 1.54 and 1.55 and the first thing i noticed was that My neo geo games wouldn't show up... I assumed it was due to an update in the bios... (as it has happened before) so I grabbed that too, Now there's another issue, About half of my neo-geo Roms have Glitchy graphics while playing on the 1.5x versions of kawaks but are fine in the 1.4x Is it due to a bad copy of the bios?, or an update to the rom? and does this mean I have to Re-download all the neogeo roms that don't work with the new version?
