  1. Not really, no. But that's just my opinion. About the Turbografx-16 though, what are the must have games for this console, excluding games that have superior arcade ports? I find myself frequently at loss of what to get when I go through the TG-16 game library. Definitely Taito's 'Parasol Stars', Hudson's 'New Adventure Island' (which is an altered remake of Sega/Westone's 'Wonder Boy' coin-op with all-new graphics and stages), Naxat's 'Alien Crush' and 'Devil Crash' (although there is a version of the latter on the MD, which is better in some areas and worse in others). 'Darius Alpha' is exclusive, as are the 'PC Kid'/'Bonk' games (but I don't know whether they as good as people say - I haven't tried them as of yet), and 'Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu' is quite good. On a different note; many people say 'Gunhed' but they are talking out of their @rse (it's the easiest shooter of all time). There are plenty of PC Engine specific versions of 'Bomberman' but I think Bomberman games are absolute sh!t - multiplayer or not, 'Batman' and 'Die Hard' if you want to play some crap but exclusive movie tie-ins. Oh, and 'Dracula X: Rondo of Blood', but I haven't got a clue how to run CD games... You're right though, almost all of the system's good games are arcade conversions that are obviously superior in MAME. Anyway, hope that helps.
  2. Okay, so I got the thing stretched to full screen (on my monitor that won't display 640 resolution) but I have another problem now. Now that it's in fullscreen the speed of the emulation is wrong - it's terribly sluggish and is topping out at '44' and hovering at '40'-'42' on the framerate counter - Bearing in mind that from my computer I get a perfect framerate and zero sound crackling whilst running MAME's NBA Hangtime at 1600x1200 screen resolution (and with vsync, triple buffering and 75% scanlines applied). I realised that this is when either of Magic Engine's two vsync modes are applied - when I turn it off the framerate locks at '60' - but obviously I get hideous screen tearing... Why is Magic Engine limiting the Framerate? Is there a way of enabling vsync and getting 60 FPS or is it just a pile of cr@p? Thanks.
  3. Thanks for the help but how do you change resolution through the config file so that the default isn't 640x480?
  4. Hi, Simple question: how do you change the render mode/fullscreen resolution in Magic Engine (v1.0.0.0 PR10)? I know you can't do it through the frontend and need to edit the PCE.ini file but I don't know which bit applies to the fullscreen render mode and what to type to change it. The default resolution in the emulator is 640x480 which I'm having trouble with and I need to change it to 1024x768 or higher. Thanks.
  5. I would never usually reply in this manner, but I'm fr!gg!n' sick of how every single user on a games forum responds to any question. I was just asking a simple question. I didn't expect abuse back. Even the slightest thing gets you losers riled up enough to start with your disgusting attitude. Just your first 3 words made it clear that you were replying in a jealous, aggressive rant. "Instant 'TV's fault'" - could you not just say "the TV probably does not support that low resolution"? No, because you're not smart enough to hide your blatant jealousy. "My Acer AT3220A is more capable than your Bravia" I think you mistyped something there. You wrote 'cabaple' but I think you meant to type 'embarrassing'. Okay, so what if, before you bought that junk screen, you won a competition, and as a prize you could choose between a 32'' Acer and a 50'' Sony Bravia. Would you still prefer the 'Made in Taiwan' Acer? My @$s. It isn't even a TV - it's a slightly bigger than usual desktop monitor and nothing more, so good luck trying to show a blu-ray movie to a roomful of friends, or have MAME Alpha/KOF running on a Megalo sized screen with that piffling thing. As for Sony's support - 2 HDMI sockets, Y/Pb/Pr component socket (of course my TV supports it you moron, obviously yours doesn't), two scart sockets, composite in, s-video in, PC in, headphone socket, built in freeview, Yes of course Sony's "backend" support is poor.....Sony are rock solid and who the f+ck are Acer? A whiffy, pile of $h!t company that I've barely heard of and wouldn't go anywhere near. Sony didn't inlcude 640x480 through PC-in because it's a dead resoultion. Nothing goes that low anymore. You just F+ckin wish your TV couldn't handle Dreamcast - You'd give your 640 resolution and your right arm to have something that makes PS3, 360 and movies look as good as mine does. One of the main reasons I wanted to put my DC on this TV is so I could also run the sound through my $600 THX certified 5.1 speakers (for quality, not surround, before you start) as my TV speakers are only half-decent, but I suppose your Acer has great speakers... (No TVs do, blockhead) And sell it? I'd never sell something this good. Although I probably ought to, so I can get the same exact thing but the 1080p version and p/ss you off even more. I don't understand your problem with me anyway - you do realise that there are other people in the world who have TVs like mine? And even better. Just stay away from Home Cinema forums, unless you want to feel very badly about yourself. They'd laugh in the face of your pathetic Acer. You remind of someone I used to know at primary school who actually argued that his standard light switch was superior to my parents' dimmer switch. You're also probably one of these morons who keeps blanking Sony Corporation's Wikipedia page with "GO WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!". Sounds about right. As for "Sony is teh suck dude" and "Backend support in Sony's TVs is ASS", why don't you learn to write proper English? Well, when you spend every walking hour on a forum, I suppose there's no need. "Mind you I like the 50"" You have no idea how good 50 inch is - This was my face when I saw a 32'' on display in a window. And please don't bother wasting more of your time replying as I won't bother to check if you've replied. I've had enough of losers like you. Good luck with your next 2300 posts, hope you become as pathetic as Agozer with his 15773.
  6. As well as the VGA box not working, the HDTV I have cannot display my PC in 640x480 yet is fine when displaying 800x600 and 1024x768. Is this the same problem? It's strange though as my Wii and PS2 component (480p) works OK. Do you think that with a cable like this I would have success? This Product Thanks.
  7. Thank you for the reply. I did mean XGA even though I typed XVGA, sorry. The TV is a Sony Bravia 50 inch rear projection 720p. Not entirely sure but I think model number is 50KDFE50A12U.
  8. I'm trying to get my DC onto my HD TV (through the PC in connection) by using a VGA BOX but I can't get it working. I bought a standard VGA cable to connect the box to my TV's port after I tried my existing PC monitor's cable to no avail. I believe that cable could be XVGA and that was the reason it didn't work, but upon trying the newly purchased VGA cable I got exactly the same result - A black screen (when the DC was running it had sound, through my 5.1 speakers, but no picture on screen). I tried running the game in 60HZ mode and then switching cables but that just gives a messed up screen image. I tried the Dreamcast (and compatible VGA games) on my PC monitor and it works perfectly but as far as getting the DC onto my HD TV, is this even possible? (my HDTV displays my PC perfectly when I hook them up - it's just the VGA box that isn't working) My TV has a PC channel that stays blank when the VGA box is connected and the channel display 'no sync'. Oh, and it's a PAL Dreamcast I am using, although I don't think this should be a problem as I have got it working on my PC monitor. Do I need a SVGA cable or a special kind of cable? Thank you.
  9. Hi, Does anyone know how to fix the problem of Kaillera closing itself on Windows XP? It shows the familiar "send error report" and just closes whenever I try to use the option to 'start netplay' in either Kawaks or Mame32k. I have two PCs and on one it's okay. I recently tried to get back into Kaillera and I seem to vaguely recall this error affected one of my computers before and someone on a forum fixed it. I hope someone on here knows how. Thanks.
  10. I have developed a website based around retro arcade games and I have been asked to conduct user testing. Don’t worry, I don’t represent a company out for cash, I’m a University student. We've been told by our tutors to ask around forums to give us feedback. It is viewable from the following link: Removed Please be aware that I had problems including a Flash pre-loader, so please wait for the loading bar (at the bottom of your browser) to stop before viewing the website (certain links and things may not work properly unless it has fully loaded). 11. I edited my post and pasted 'Mr.Driller is the same' after I'd tested it and it didn't work - I just meant the buttons problem is the same - I didn't mean it used six buttons (lol). Thanks for your replies, I'll try that other front end you mentioned.
  12. Does anyone know why Fighting Layer's buttons don't work? When I go to the test switch - the stick moves around the options and the start button works, but the fire buttons don't do anything. Mr. Driller is the same - Setting up the controller through the GUI lists only five buttons but the game uses six. Is this what's causing it? I'm using ZiNcGUI Version 1.9.5 with ZiNc 1.0.1 with the Winterblasts plugin. I don't have any problems controlling any of the Street Fighter EX games in ZiNc. Thanks.
  13. Can somebody tell me if there is a file or something you can download in order to play as the 'CPU Characters' (Demitri, Geese, Mars People, Dan etcetera) in SVC Chaos (Rom name; svc.zip)? I think there are codes but is there a save file or cheat file that allows these to be chosen easily? I'm using MAME32 0.105. Thanks!
  14. That was just an example. ALL games on the emulator do not run exactly as they should. But for some reason the developers (and players) don't realise it. Visual Boy sucks until they correct this. Run any fast moving game on the GBA and compare it to the same game running on the emulator if you still can't tell. It's much more sluggish. Even original Gameboy and Gameboy Color roms don't run at their original framerate on VBA. I have a different emulator for these and it works perfecly. There is still no decent GBA emulator (and I have tried multiple emu's and versions).
  15. Maybe you have not updated your emulator for many years? Or maybe you don't have the minimum PC specs? Anyway, GBA emulation on a flashcart is full speed, as is NDS emulation on an M3. You can even play old games, such as NES, GG, or GB, at full speed on a flashcart or M3. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well you must not have bought games on a GBA if you can't tell the difference between emulated games and proper GBA games. Run MKSuperCircuit on a GBA next to any GBA emulator and you'll see. Are a 3.2GHZP4HT and 2gb of ram minimum specs?
  16. Hi, I am curious how well GBA and DS games run when they are played through a back-up card such as the M3 or Flash2Advance. I have always disliked emulators such as VisualBoyAdvance as they don't run at full FPS. For example, I own Mario Kart Super Circuit (among many others) for the GBA, and when I play the rom version on the any GBA emulator, it is noticeably slower/jerkier (nothing to do with frameskip or maxing the CPU) (it seems 50fps compared to 60fps) than the bought cartridge regardless of CPU power (I have a very powerful PC). For some reason in Visualboy GBA games just do not run at their natural frame rate. Anyway, I wanted to know if roms played on an actual GBA or DS through a flash card run exactly as well as the bought the game. Thank you.
  17. I thought this was an emulation forum. Whenever anyone asks a question about emulation, the replies are nowhere to be seen. Instead you are all talking about random sh!t such as the latest game you are playing, what music you are listening to and who ate their dog in America. Someone should close the Current Affairs thread so the forum members actually get back to helping people with Emulation or discussing the latest emulators. If you people want to have substitutes to real life friends, go to a less specific forum. PS: I suppose now I have starting talking about something other than emulation, the replies will flood in.
  18. In OutRunners (and a few other games such as Lode Runner: The Dig Fight) MAME displays both screens (1P and 2P) simultaneously in a widescreen effect. Can someone tell me how to get MAME to display just the left-hand screen in full-screen? OutRunners used to be like this but then it was 'fixed'. I'm trying to play OutRunners with my Driving Force Pro whilst peering at a GBA sized screen. So are there any settings within MAME that allow this to be changed? Thanks.
  19. Sorry for the long delay. Thanks for all your help your suggestions were right. The fans were clogged and the CPU was over-heating. I didn't realise that could cause such a problem. Anyway I took it to the builder and it was cleaned and I had an additional fan fitted (and an extra 1GB RAM for good measure). It works perfectly now. Thanks again.
  20. Okay thanks, I didn't know. It worked this time. Thanks.
  21. Hi, I'm trying to start my PC in safe mode to get rid of some spyware (SurfSideKick) that is always "In Use" and cannot be deleted. When I hold F8 it just takes me to a screen asking which boot device I want to use. I'm given a choice between floppy drive, cd, etc. I don't know which to choose so I just press escape and Windows starts normally (not in safe mode). I have also tried going to the settings menu, but this is just a complicated menu for configuring bioses and IDE drives and there is no mention of safe mode. Is there something else I could try? Is there another way to get into safe mode? Thank you.
  22. No, it's obviously not this forum I'm trying to register to as I'm already a member here. It's a different one with different sign-up rules.
  23. Hi, I am trying to register to a forum but it requires an e-mail address from an ISP (aol, bt etc) and I don't have an ISP e-mail address anymore. I have encounted one like this before and my gmail account worked. Is there any free e-mail service that will act in the same way as an ISP e-mail account? I'm guessing forums like this block well known e-mail providers such as hotmail and gmail. Will there be a free e-mail provider to get around this or do you think it will have to be an ISP e-mail address? Thanks.
  24. I did a full defrag of the drive which took over five hours. That didn't make any difference. I also did what James said and got the official build (0.105). This stopped the weird sound anomalies in the older games (Any of the the newer games, and by that I mean games as old as WWF Superstars and Super Contra, are still diabolical). A few hours later, after closing and re-opening MAME for the third time, the sound anomalies came back as well. So, despite having the official build, I'm back to square one. I don't understand what's happening. If the processor overheating isn't to blame when I have it checked out I haven't got a clue what I'll do...
