  1. I big Thank You to all that helped me during my battle to get CoinOPS and other programs to run on my old XBOX here is a summery of my steps: 1. You must have a modified Xbox modchip is best 2. Install XBMC dashboard on it, check documentation here 3. Unpack CoinOPS on your computer. 4. Copy (using ftp) the CoinOPS main folder inside the largest partition of Xbox (in my Xbox v1.0 the largest is F: ) 5. DEFAULT.XBE is the main file that have to be launch to start CoinOPS Create a shortcut in XBMC Programs Folder (or where you would like) ...otherwise you can make it run using a file manager, moving inside F:\\Coinops folder and running default.xbe by hand 6. Disable the info tracking to dramatically reduce the game loading time **pressing BACK and START together** and entering in the advanced menu. 7. If after all this you try to start CoinOPS and you get a blank screen try the following: · Download CE 5.4 which is the latest N64 emulator. It's about 25 MB. Link: here · Unpack Surreal64 on your computer. · Copy (using ftp) the Surreal64 main folder inside the largest partition of Xbox (in my Xbox v1.0 the largest is F: ) · DEFAULT.XBE is the main file that have to be launch to start Surreal64 Create a shortcut in XBMC Programs Folder (or where you would like) ...otherwise you can make it run using a file manager, moving inside F:\\ Surreal64 folder and running default.xbe by hand · When you try to start Surreal64 if you get a blank screen you may need to update the Modchip Bios. 8. If you can identify the Modchip and update the Bios that is the best way. (In my case I had a very old Homebrew Modchip with no way to update the Bios) so I had to patch the default.xbe back to retail. There is an app that lets you do this here (I used the dos version only it was the only one that worked correctly for me) 9. Unpack XBEPatcher on your computer. 10. Move the application to the folder containing the .xbe files you want to patch. 11. (My PC OS is Windows XP) so I right clicked XBEPatcher and Chose "DOS Prompt in containing folder" this opened a cmd prompt window with a dos prompt to my current folder. 12. Usage from DOS:" XBEPatch filename" (Example "XBEPatch default.xbe) then press enter. This will create a backup of the original file (.bak extension) and a patched version of the file. Just remember though you have to patch ALL the .xbe files including the mameox.xbe, not just the default.xbe file. (exact spacing and correct file name is important or the patcher will not work and you will get an error 13. After all files are patched I put all the backups created into a folder. And moved this folder to another location. 14. Upload your patched application to your XBOX removing or overwriting any previous. 15. DEFAULT.XBE is the main file that have to be launch to start CoinOPS Create a shortcut in XBMC Programs Folder (or where you would like) ...otherwise you can make it run using a file manager, moving inside F:\\Coinops folder and running default.xbe by hand 16. If all goes well your application will start. Thanks to all that helped me especially Annihilitor & fumanchu for complete info look here

  6. Xecuter Mod Chip Ver. 1 with an original Bios Did some digging it is a Matrix Mod Chip I think I may have a solution Hi, Have you tried clearing the Xbox caches? I used to get a black screen when launching backups until doing the following: - Delete everything in E:\cache and also anything on the X: Y: & Z: drives. Use the file manager on XBMC. I used XMPatcher v1.2 on all the .xbe in Surreal64 the dialog told me that all .xbe didn't need patched however I did that any way. Loaded to XBOX rebooted and still the same problem. I don't any drives other than: C:\ D:\ E:\ F:\ Q:\ that is with my ftp cliant or XBMC file manager. I think it might be a good idea to start saperate thread any suggestions so I don't loose everyones help.
  7. Thanks Annihilitor and all others I will work on it from this angle

  10. Well I had a chance to try and here are my steps and result Completely removed all versions of the old applications. (CoinOPS, XBMC, and EVOX) and started over from scratch with the MS Dash. Installed the newest version of XBMC as a Dashboards on the Harddrive it worked fine I didn't make any changes to any settings in XBMC build3800. I installed CoinOPS Epic R3 changing nothing tried to Launch and I would get a blank screen as before. I installed surreal64 and had the same result Conclusion this is not a CoinOPS only problem I booted to Evox bootable CD and launched both applications from EvoX Launch Menu same Problem Conclusion XBMC is not causing the problem Tests: One time when CoinOPS was trying to launch I tried FTPing into my XBOX this took a long time to connect. Conclusion the CPU and Memory are loaded trying to launch the application. System Info: XBOX Ver 1.0 Bios X-Ecuter Free Memory 37mb. Operating System 1.0.4034.1 C:\ 398mb free E:\ 4409mb free F:\ 109586mb free I am trying to do some research on Bios updates. Does this information give you any more ideas? (.)(.) ask where some of us came from I am an old warez person from way back. My XBOX was modded over 10 years ago and I am just mow getting around to putting it to some use. Originally was going to use Mame but after countless reading ran across these newer apps and that looked like the better choice.
  11. Ok Thanks I will give this a try when I get time.
  12. Only application I have is CoinOPS XBMC Revision 17820 Originally had EvoX 3935 as my dash and I couldn't get CoinOPS inferno R5 to start using EvoX as a dash however I had XBMC installed as a Program before I made it my dashboard and it started fine. If you have suggestion for a small program to load and try I sure would.
  13. Cleaned the U & T data folders of all saves. Didn't find any saves by that name I believe none are created because the CoinOPS never loads 4.5gigs of free space on the drive containing CoinOPS Tried launching as you suggested with the same result. The only way to get out of the blank screen is to cycle power on the Xbox or open the CD drive tray
  14. Thanks for the step by step Annihilitor this way I know I followed the correct instillation procedure. Sometimes when you look at something for so long you are not sure where you are at. I actually was to this point about a week ago. I know now I have the correct red CoinOPS icon. A little history of my journey: My first install was CoinOPS Ignite R5 followed the install instructions tried to start the application and it would not run. (Blank Screen after The CoinOPS default.xbe icon was clicked) I thought that i would look for a newer version and maybe I had a incomplete version that was causing me problems. Next came CoinOPS reignite X with the same result (Blank Screen after The CoinOPS default.xbe icon was clicked) Now I have CoinOPS Epic R2 all previous versions of CoinOPS that I installed have been removed and it seems by the above quote that I have it correctly installed CoinOPS Epic R2 and I am correctly trying to launch it. this also has the same result (Blank Screen after The CoinOPS default.xbe icon was clicked) I have clicked the icon and let it sit for 1/2 hour waiting for something to start up with no response. (.)(.) I can't find the program setting you are referring to maybe I have too old a version of XBMC. Maybe its time to start over if so? Could you tell me how step by step. Thank you all for your patience I really appreciate it
  15. Tried Deleting the TDATA & UDATA and running default.xbe blank screen CoinOPS current location:E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2 Edited the Path.ini as follows: UsePathINI=1 ROMPath1=E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\roms ROMPath2= ROMPath3= ROMPath4= ROMPath5= ROMPath6= ROMPath7= ROMPath8= E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 1 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 2 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 3 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 4 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 5 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 6 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 7 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\artwork\Shots 8 E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\nvram E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\ini E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\savestates E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\config E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\hiscores E:\Games\CoinOPS EPIC R2\videos The rest is in docs included. Tried stating CoinOPS still blank screen
  16. Wow thanks for the great response there is some to digest here. I will try to answer all questions. I want to use XBMC as my dashboard it provides the functionality I want. I want to install Coin OPS Epic as a program on the Harddrive on E: So far I have a working dashboard XBMC with a path in the Programs section to CoinOPS Epic. When I click on the CoinOPS Epic shortcut I created it takes me to the Coin OPS folder then I scan down to a object that has the CoinOPS logo on it (I am thinking that is CoinOPS Default.XBE which I assume that is what starts CoinOPS). There is another one with the same Icon that says (Don't Run) When I try to start CoinOPS I get a black screen with no way out but to power down. For an instillation I unRARed the CoinOPS Epic archive and drooped the whole thing in E:\Programs\Coin OPS Epic\ Did I miss something in the install? pikky didn't mean to hijack your subject this should have been a Reply for (.) (.) my bad
  17. I have a Ver. 1.0 XBOX 120gb Maxtor Ultra DMA133 HD. Installed Evox 3935 replaced with XBMC rev17820-T3CH loaded on the E:\Apps\XBMC and using Shortcut.xbe method. Install CoinOPS Epic R2 on E:\Games\ CoinOPS Epic R2. I installed the complete file in this location and no other part anywhere else. Installed ROMs’ and artwork in respective directories. Set up a shortcut in XBMC to the CoinOPS folder. Reboot XBOX got to launch application using the CoinOPS default.xbe and I get a black screen. I have tried previous ver. of CoinOPS ignite and reignite with the same result, I have pored over every file and opened all the .ini’s to be sure that paths are correct. I have been reading for hours on end over the past week trying to make this work. I am to the point of starting over but I would like some insight on the proper way to install CoinOPS Epic R2 with XBMC as a dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
