  1. Dead Rising Wii screens:

Looks like they dumbed down textures quite a bit.

Fingers crossed the textures will improve before release. I had thought they would go the route of smaller more confined areas to maximise the impact of (more than likely) reduced zombie numbers. As someone said though, Nintendo aside, Capcom are probably the most capable of exceeding the Wii's graphical limitations.

  2. Was a strange game. came out toward the end of the snes' lifespan, some called it actraiser3 and i dunno what to say about the storyline, it has similarities with secret of mana, depending on how far into the game you play. I still have the cartridge lying around somewhere.

    decent review Side.

  3. The reason I mentioned it was because the lack of characterisation in most of the people you get to control, as you said bar Frog and Magus, was the only thing that could give FF6 (or maybe FF4) an edge over Chrono Trigger.

This of course depends on how important you think the storyline is, but I liked Chrono Trigger more for the gameplay anyway.

  4. the problem with keyboards is they don't register more then 3 button presses at a time. try it in a reply, press 4 buttons simultaneously. nothing will happen or only 1 or 2 of the keystrokes will register.

would explain why progs like kawaks have macro's

...as for sf4, I just hope Guile isn't nerfed in this one like he has been ever since sf2turbo.

  5. I actually saw a demo of a similar tech (to give a better orientation of the wiimote) awhile ago on youtube, it had something to do with the alignment of the accelerometers (it also gave a good explanation of why the IR bar is needed), so that with additional IR positions the guy was able to do a decent example of a mock lightsabre.

    (it's quite long)

Although I agree that really those extra gyro's should have been in the wiimote from the start, it's hard to judge based on not knowing how long the Wii-mote was in development (also in the youtube vid the guy mention that such tech was expensive as well).

  6. I dunno, when you add in the cel-shaded graphics style that was used in DQ8 -and will be used in DQ9- alongside the decision to make that new PoP cel-shadey too, I don't really think its that much of a stretch.

...it's obviously not as uncanny as the similarities between Okami and the Twilight Princess though.

  7. As far as releases on western VC, you might get Mother 1 and 2. I really don't know what would come out for nds since all three came out on GBA, if only in Japan. I don't think there are plans to make anymore :( .

...the fan translation of Mother 3 isn't too far away from completion.

  8. Well, do call to make sure. It'll probably be cheaper to pay for the repair without warranty than to buy a new Wii.

That is very true. Depending on the price though, and if you know it is the specifically the drive where the problem is, you can always buy a replacement and fit it yourself. Which might be more challenging.

  9. Well done, you now have perfect conditions to turn your duff Wii into a emulator machine.

Might as well get some 2gig SD cards to load homebrew and roms from, until a usb hdd driver comes out.

Im sorry I can't offer a better alternative, but might as well make the best of a bad situation.

...oh wait this won't help if you havn't already installed the homebrew channel. You did install the homebrew channel right?

  10. I actually played Lucas a bit and liked him, at least more than Olimar. His move Pk Thunder is great against recovering opponents, in 1 vs 1 mode anyway, as you get to guide it.

oh forgot to add my fc
