  1. No progress on my stick... but still I will play. If I see you on when I am Inky, we will get in some matches.
  2. Well you sound like a strategy guide! Yea its info like this on page that you see me with often... drilling combos and such. Ill look into this info thanks.
  3. Bah... called out. Perhaps tomorrow I will get out the boxes and refine my box dimensions. Then get ahold of that solder guy cause who knows when he will be free. Then go out and buy a replacement controller so I can have 2 regular ones. Ill write the dimensions down and have them cut. Some sanding and then get on it. The steps are short enough. Im looking forward to breaking out all my fighters once its built. I've been taking at easy on em because the pad pisses me off. Speaking about SSFIV though, Ive noticed Juri can be hard to fight against. Sagat is the only character out of my short played list that can handle her. My sorry Dudley cant get close. Im using Sagat, Dudley, Dhalsim, T Hawk. and I want to learn Gouken as in use him properly. But I still need to build up my current list.
  4. Yea put the game on easy and play through a few times. Then crank it up to medium again and you should get further. You need to just get familiarized. Moar practice. Yea I dont want to grind some of the challenge courses as Id rather do it on my joystick. No sense taking forever on a few combos on a dpad when Ill be playing on a joy.
  5. Dude... Dudley is badass. Thought id drop in and say that whilst on my way for a smoke break.
  6. The way you preform is this. As Veristic says, with time you'll refine "how" you input. I imagine you frantically and spastically trying to pull something off over and over. You ask how one can pull off a combo in the middle of combat, I say this; with much practice, your input will refine because the shear # of times you do something, you shave off the unnecessary motion... At the same time you basically program yourself. For instance, I can do things with Bryan Fury without thinking. You just do it instinctively. That is what the drills are for. Shaving off the unnecessary motions (your hurt thumbs) and programming timing for certain links. Like the old school Fierce punch to Fireball. Yea your trying to force the commands and in so doing, adding too much force to your fingertips. I believe Veristic is right. Do what I did and do... when I cant pull something off. Practice. Is it easier to do a Dragon punch facing right over left... or vice versa? If so you definitely need more input practice. I find I am back to square 1 or so because I have issues preforming a dragon punch perfectly facing left. This means my thumb is no longer programmed. Not something I thought Id ever loose but I did. At least a bit. I suggest drilling Emsley. Go into practice and slowly do a move. Do it faster and faster until it feels proficient and efficient, then do it facing the other way. What you need to do is make a move easily and without thought, as opposed to jamming a move out just barely. It'll actually take alot of time but it beats fumbling and barely getting a move out.
  7. What? Thumbs hurt? I might (cant remember) have gotten sore thumbs over 24 years ago... I've had a controller in my hand ever since. There has got to be a remedy. New injury... soak them mits in hot ass water for a time. Hot as you can handle. Condition those hands soldier we have more drilling to do! What are you playing this on? Indeed Emsley, doing a super move, Fireball, hurricane kick ect, with two buttons uses one of those little bars. You will notice these moves do more. For instance the hurricane kick sucks them in and does more hits. They can be quite handy at the tail end of a combo. You mentioned the computer reading your inputs? Of course it does.
  8. I'll tell you the first problem. Honda was, is, and always be a shoto killer. His moves are the rock to your scissors. Gotta trap him, I.E. make him do what you want... his jump to your ducking Fierce. (RYU) Lots of trips and throws. (ANY) Its still like old school. At least the basics, the balancing is different but retains the same feel. You should actually try some different characters as opposed to staying with the familiar shoto group. Try out the other characters. Dudley is pretty badass!
  9. The reason its not working is you need to learn the input times. Example. Sagat has a crouching m kick to a low fireball then a tiger knee. If I dont do the tiger knee immediately after the fire ball and I mean immediately after... It wont work. They dont have timing demoes like they do in Tekken. Work on the first 2 commands. Once you get the timing for the L punch just after the L kick... then practice the timing for the fireball just after that punch! Might just be a 3rd of a second or maybe an 8th. Thats what I ment by "drills" in an earlier post. Your fingers hurting is a sign you not hard core lol.
  10. That's because the movie wasn't made in 3D like Avatar was, it had post-processing run on it. Indeed. The move was filmed in 2D and then they took various layers and artificially added depth. It looked much like a pop up book and that was pretty lame. Since you cant see in 3D Iceman (sidenote) Avitar had absolute depth. Immagine looking at a picture of a tree in the background... like on a poaster board. Avitar had actual depth so it didnt look like a picture book at all. Sidenote: I have been reading various techniques used for 3D viewing. I was wondering the extent of your inability to see them. Hmmm perhaps the technique used in that glassesless 3D TV will work for you?
  11. Well I havent played for a day or so and I still have yet to start the stick. I have all the parts... all of them minus certain tools... I.E. chisel to make an 1/8th inlay so the joy recesses and seats in the wood, so a totally smooth surface is possible on the face of the joystick. And of course the solder work is being done by someone I know. Id rather a professional than wing it. Well once its built Ill have to run drills so I can start doing motions reflexively. My right hand still runs a mouse targeting system quite well (First person Shooters) and I hate playing with one thumb on an analog (consoles)... So I cant wait to feel the difference of a full hand controlling the motions rather than one thumb... although in my mind it doesnt feel comfortable yet. I wonder how long it'll take till it's second nature???
  12. I am a gamepad kinda guy but thats just cause I never really played much of fighters at the arcade. I played more shooters and stuff. But once I build this stick, I'll be sure to practice often and get the new coordination built up. That is until I have it on thought control.
  13. Any real help would be through combat. Too bad your getting a PS3. I cant think of any questions as what I need is experience. Once I get seasoned Id might have questions and try different stuff out cause id actually know what I was doing most of the time.
  14. Did you just say SNES controllers suck? Your nuts. SNES controllers are some of the best. In no particular order except Playstations first of course... Playstation, SNES, Sega-6 button & Saturn all had the tightest controls plain and simple. Im referring to Fighting games as example. With those controls in my hands, any error was on my part. 360 controls... horrible. So... Bill Gates is interested in 3D and Sony is also looking into it. Im sure the next systems will be 3D capable (superior 3D) but what of this in the near future? I wonder if/when/what the first real 3D capable game will be. Capcom released a 3D version of RE5 but when will this start to take root?
  15. Well Inky and I had 45 matches. I feel alittle more control but I still have a long ways to go. Funny how Im good with Dahlsim and he is an advanced character. I want to get good with Goukin but he takes some skill to use properly. I still cannot pull off moves well enough, its the controls. When I finish my joystick I'll have to learn to use the joy properly but the preciseness of the joy will help tremendously. Hopefully someone else can join us but were about even. Id think everyone else would ruin us. But its good that inky and I are around the same level, but we can only "level" at a low rate this way, the way to get better faster is playing people who are quite skillful.
  16. I have, I need to practice my timing on certain combos. Once my timing is better I need to focus on programming my reflexes to pull of the proper combos or counters at proper times. Then need to develop actual mastery of said character by constant practice and familiarizing myself again with situational circumstances. I.E. que. 1st que 2nd que etc. For instance, there is a # of ways to react to something, the key to mastery is being 3 steps ahead of where you are. 1st que, I throw a fire ball. 2nd que you know Im going to throw a fireball and you counter it. 3rd que I know you think im going to throw a fireball and you'll try to overcome but I am prepared for your counter, as opposed to being prepared for my (faked) fireball. I've always been better at beating the player, as opposed to their character. I remember the days of making them jump and punishing them. Tripping them and throwing them when they expect something else and fucking up their rhythm... then when their rhythm is broken, capitalizing on their confusion. Im so far away from where I was... I get frustrated. I know this is a new game but the principles are the same. Indeed. Ill see you on soon enough. 'bout to hit the showers first though.
  17. I suck. Really really bad too. Apparently the only thing im good at in SSFIV is playing badly. I never really played SFIV so the engine is new to me. Secondly, I havent played SF in forever and the basics are all but obscure to me. My timing for situations is all off here. I.E. They jump and I dont punish in time for instance. 3rd... I hate the 360 controller... and I havent completed my joystick. Time to get on it. I started off on easy to familiarize myself with the game and now play on medium. I'm not feeling the game yet. You know what I mean? When you zone into a game and you can just feel the pace and so forth? I'm no where near that. I feel like a girl gamer im so bad. I'd go online but I got totally destroyed. I see how I'm playing and it disgusts me. Im generally good at all games and this is horrible. I dont have a deep understanding of 1 character let alone everyone... I need to drill combos and timing and situational defenses/offenses ~ punishment. Problem is Im starting at ground 0. Its as if I have never played a fighting game before I'm playing so bad. I find myself getting frustrated and recessing to Tiger Knee, Tiger Uppercut, or Fireball spamming. I have hit just over 3 Hrs on SSFIV now. Thats how new I am to this and there are those who have been playing the first one forever now... so I am way below par. I see a guy from here playing SFIV now SSFIV all the damn time... not me. Im nube So yea... I need ALOT of practice. Its not even funny. Also... whats up with the most rancid looking anime at the ending of the game? Youd think something as famous as SF would get the royal treatment! I look forward to beating the game with everyone so I can puke alittle in my mouth for each persons ending. Whoever drew that anime... and whoever decided to go with that artist... and whoever gave it the final seal of approval all need to be sliced at the gut and strangled with their intestines while piranha devour their flesh and boiling oil is injected into their eyes. We need horrifying punishment to diminish the number of bad artists. The anime at the end is really that bad. They need to die a horrible death as punishment. Some characters look so fucking silly it drives me nuts. Adon, Blanka etc... But anyway... I need alot of practice. If anyone here doesnt mind handing me my ass on occasion, if you see me playing by all means send me a challenge. The only way I can get good is through practice... alot of it.
  18. Yea but can it do 3D?
  19. LOL not necessarily. If you smoke like crazy then quit, I believe you are more sensitive to its effects later on, as opposed to de-sensitized. Thats what I believe anyway, who knows. A couple of tokes of regular stuff would blaze me up though.
  20. Well the future better get here now damn it. I want 3D gaming goodness. I wanna check out 3D RE5 but dont want to get all the necessary stuff to check it out.
  21. Hmmmm, indeed. Ok how about this! I just erased a ton of text cause I came across this. Blows all that other crap out the box but they are not marketing it yet. WHY? Just as I said... not enough media out for people to want to spend fat cash on it. Im sure this TV would put the Raging Final Atomic Demon Buster on your savings account. Source Yea... like I said... $25,000 price tag currently. Even though its still not on the market.
  22. Yea about the panicking, I had that after I quit, then toked up again. I got waay too high and was almost freaking out. I know people who had the same... one guy talked a friend of mine out of it, telling him it was his mind snowballing the effect and just chill out. And he did just that. HAHAHA I remember a friend of mine had stopped, then smoked with us in the garage after a long dry spell... he had to leave 'cause he kept imagining my head exploding and couldnt snap out of it heh.
  23. Here is the thing. You have a condition. Something along the lines of a chemical imbalance. You mentioned depression. When you drink or smoke or whatever, you give your brain something it likes and well... it really really likes it. It becomes hardwired for it. Perhaps you noticed how bad it got after a few days of not drinking at first. If this IS so, I am proud of you! I know how hard it is to stop something you like. For me it was the herb. I was sooo wired for it... here, let me give you an example. You know how when you wake up and your groggy? (to those who dont wake up in a snap) If I were to smoke, the sleepy fog would lift instantly. Id not be sleepy and Id be great. I remember once I had to take a few tokes from a bowl before my first day at this job that had me going in early. And when I eventually quit, I was hard up. It felt like I needed to do something! I increased my cig smoking 4 fold. I still smoke like a civ and its due to the feeling that I want to fill a need. A need to consume. If I dont get a smoke I feel ansy, restless. I have a very addictive personality. I am addicted to games and well... doing whatever else pleases me, eating, smoking, sex whatever. As for me drinking does little for me. I usually feel bad after a few drinks. When I do get my buzz of drink, It usually dies down fast... something about alcohol. I just stop getting drunk and start getting shitty. Pressure points start to ache like youd never believe. Perhaps it genetic pre-disposition... my dads an Alcoholic. And my disposition isnt mimicry, as my mom left his ass before I was 2, and I really dont know him at all. No, I think its something genetic/ chemical based. I just dont enjoy alcohol much at all. Point is, Its easy to do what is pleasing. And for me its an endless cycle. Stopping something like that is ridiculously hard. Its better not to play with temptation as I smoked a few times since I quit and I did NOT want to stop. I wanted to buy more more more. Problem is Im lazy and all I wanted to do is smoke up and play games all waking hours of the day. Yes it's fun but Im 31 now. When would it stop. It'd be sad if I was a 70 year old pot head that still played games high as fuck. So... just think hard about what it is you want and stick to what is realistic. Everything you do is done in steps. The path of pleasure is quick, but the path back out is long and tedious. I bet you'd love to go out for a drink. Your a brit, of course you would. heh. But there is too much of a good thing, really. Oh sidenote. I knew a guy named Byron. He began drinking and smoking early on but eventually got to pills and shit. On his girls Bday, we were all at Kobe and having a good time. He got "down" and waited in the car because he was ready to go. Everyone else was still talking and visiting in the restaurant. I went out for a smoke and he told me to go back in and try to get her to come out so they can go home. When we did eventually come out he was gone... they lived together and he was her ride. She had to get dropped off by her mom and he wasnt there either, Nowhere to be found. Turns out he was scoring some pills or whatever. He was a straight up addict. On top of all that, we spoke often and he told me he has chemical imbalances now and mental conditions from all the pills he has taken. He never had such problems before he was a pill head. The constant "poisoning" fucked his head all up. Same can be said for anything that has an effect. Weed, alcohol whatever. Just some work faster than others. I remember you mentioning something earlier in this thread about weed but remember, the same applies to alcohol too. And as always, I am not trying to tell you what to do or judge or even trying to be an know it all... Im just putting in my thoughts and thats all. Im just making sure you know where I'm coming from. :Done ranting:
  24. Holy shit you never seen Ong Bak?!?! That movie IS the shit. I can throw it in right now and watch it again...
  25. Well drugs are hard to kick. If I understand even a fraction about your individual situation... perhaps drinking isnt the best idea. Look... how about this. If you do drink, make sure this isnt the start of benging again. ont drink for at least 2 weeks after... and dont drink a ton 'cause its gonna be awhile till you drink again. Just sayin'
