  1. I admit to:

    - Laughing at hookers whenever I see them.

    - Not paying for music in just over 4 years.

    - Not paying for movies in almost a year.

    - Being addicted to the concept of pirating stuff.

    - Being addicted to repoing people's cars

    - Helping myself to some of the personal property in repos (Especially any cash that might be laying around).

    - Laughing when I heard that three people that I know (But am not particularly fond of) have gonorrhea. Actually, one of them had it, and had been having sex with at least four women, two of which I know/dislike.

  2. Nevermind, guys. I fixed it, but I wouldn't have if it weren't for M.I.L.F. on DirectConnect (Specifically, ERH).

He told me to "unscrew the screws on the bottom." I looked around the PS2, and saw no such screws. So, I turned it on and opened the disc tray (It would only come out about 3/4 of an inch), then quickly shut the PS2 off and unplugged it. From there, I slowly pulled the tray out, plugged it back up, turned it on, and pushed the disc tray button. It went in about 3/4 of an inch, so I pushed it back in. From there, it worked just fine, so I kept pushing the disc tray button to make sure. It was like nothing happened.

So, if it hadn't been for my search for screws in unlikely places, I wouldn't have fixed my PS2.

  3. Just now, I was walking out of my room and tripped on a stray N64 controller cord, which moved my N64, which moved my PS2 and knocked it onto the floor. I quickly turned it on to assess the damages. Everything came up fine, but the disc tray won't come out all the way. What would be the best way of going about fixing or at least working around it? I remember reading something about the flip-up disc trays (Like with the old PSX consoles) that was a 3rd party add-on, but can't remember the name of it.

  4. I'd never pay for ROMs, either. It just somehow seems highly immoral, unless you're doing something like mame_freak's MAME burning project.

If I was running a ROMs site like Blah, I'd use the excess money for upgrading the server(s) in any way I could, and put all the money generated directly into improving the site unless hard times hit and I needed a little quick cash to get by.

  5. I killed the page when I heard the MIDI.

And I remember when I went to Ogrish when I was 16. I intentionally watched all the vids with the highest shock rating, and none of that stuff really phased me.

EDIT: I see that now they're a pay site. Pretty sad, when people have to actually pay to see that kind of crap.

  6. No, this is bad journalism. This is like the guy that graduated at the bottom of his journalism class. Some of the thoughts don't even connect.

Well, Custer graduated at the bottom of his class at West Point, and look at what happened to him.

    Thank you, WWN Trivia.

EDIT: Also, I remember reading an article not too long ago (It might have been posted here), where all these organizations are going to try to portray "file-sharers" as child porn distributors, and a bunch of other made-up crap.

  7. 2eyez: It's not all about the pimped out stuff with all the goodies. Like I said, this is more about the resale value on the parts. In the case of that stuff, a car thief could make more money selling the parts than they could selling the car.

And to whoever had the anti-theft lock system: I've seen my dad open a car with an "anti-theft lock system" in the time it would take someone to walk up on it and put the key in the door. He slid a wedge between the glass and the door, then put a special rod in and used it to trip the lock. The rod is something like $60, but the ghetto way of doing it is with a knife and a coat hanger (I've seen a good screwdriver used as a wedge before, too).

Oh, and for all of you with The Club: It's nothing to circumvent the ones that connect to the brake peddle. Any jackass could do that if they know what they're doing. I recalled telling GC about that, and he almost pissed himself. The other one, that just goes on the steering wheel, can be circumvented by cutting through the steering wheel with a saw and just peeling it off, but that's obviously not damage-free.

And for those of you who are presently scared: Don't worry, I'm not a car thief. I just know a lot of the tricks because of my job.

  8. http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/04/07/emulators/index.html

"Finding the games themselves requires a lot of searching. There is a lot of turnover on sites. They're mostly run by kids. The site you get a game from may not be up in a few weeks."

That's funny, because they don't even mention P2P, where ROMs are as common as water.

And is anyone else noticing the sudden interest in arcade emulation by the mainstream? There was a TechTV Dark Tip a few weeks ago about setting up an Xbox to play MAME games.

  9. No, but I heard about this study about two weeks ago. I would have thought that trucks would have been high on the list. Then, I realized that the resale value on the Japanese car parts is sky high, and the Japanese stuff is everywhere, so it's like a car thief's dream, unless they have a connection to move the stuff to Mexico or something.

I'm surprised that more big trucks and wreckers don't get stolen. The transmission alone is like 4 grand at retail value.
