  1. Hey guys,

I just really would love to see a RESIZE SCREEN OPTION while RUNNING a game...

I mean - You enter a game, and from the IN GAME MENU you can resize the screen, with the game image being shown in the TV display (and not a black screen).

This could HELP a lot to set proper screen sizes for the games.

The maths sometimes are not precise. I try to use the value resulting from the mathematical screensize conversion and yet I get a very very very small distortion, but noticeable. The only way to fix is USING the old "resize method" by the controller.

If the suggestion above is not do-able, maybe we can AT LEAST have a NUMERICAL DISPLAY LABEL in the screen of what sizes are we adjusting? This could help a lot too... When you enter the screen size adjustment feature you see the black screen and PLUS the coordinates + actual size. Just like the wonderful Xport classic method. This is good as gold. I like to see what I am doing, what size I am going, how many units I am increasing or decreasing, things like that.

But don't worry BP, I will not pester anybody else in the world about the screensize features - most of the people don't care --- and for those who care my hack of CoinOPS saves the day, right, Mr. Zhoul?

    Cheers!

    Cospefogo.

  2. Ask it to +T+ if he's still alive.

Hey man, I did not intend to be harsh, sorry.

It's my poor english that make my message look like rude sometimes.

I wonder if YOUR version is remapping the coin button.

Last time I tried, It was not. +T+ has nothing to do with 1.29c, correct?

Ok i assume that cause that's my crappy work.

Your work is not crappy, your work is superb. I really appreciate the new improvements, but since I am just to play, as sooner as possible, I stayed on 1.28 that all games installed are running for me. without extra work.

A romset is a zip file with contains roms, each roms has a name, a size, a CRC32. That's all... So that tools can do this work instead of you. There's i don't know how many tutorials on the web to get your answers, take five minutes to understand how it works seriously...

And also, i would be a pain to explain that in English, so look for a tutorial.

And I know that Google can teach me very well. When I find out for sure that the CoinBUTTON remap is working again and all your new features/improvements/retouch gets finished, for sure I will migrate, and will ask GOOGLE about the best way to fix my roms.

    Question:

On FBA1.28 I have some decrypted and some non-decrypted roms (Metal Slug for example). I remember I wanted to get rid of the Encrypted ones and to keep only the decrypted, but then the games were not loading anymore. I need BOTH sets for the game to work. People told me about MERGING sets but I did not move forward on this procedure.

    How is it on 1.29?

Am I able to have just ONE SIMPLE set for a game?

I hate having dozens of versions of a same game.

For me just one is what I need to simple ---------------- PLAY.

    =D

    Thanks!

    C.

  3. I was eager to migrate to 1.29 some time ago, JUST BECAUSE in 1.28 I can't remap the damn coin button. How is it now, Kensho? Anyone could please tell me if the BACK BUTTON remapping is working again? This was a stated bug in 1.28 by the very own creator, Mr. +T+.

And more, with few tests I made on 1.29 most of my roms stopped to work. YES - I know I need to "update" my romsets using that "CLRMAME & ROMCENTER" tools, but GOD - I really have no idea what to do to BUILD a total functional new romset for 1.29.

If someone can teach me, it would be a pleasure to migrate back.

At the moment, I am still on 1.28 where all games works fine with no need to mess with romsets.

    Regards,

    Cospefogo.

  4. Hey Cospe why don't you remap it yourself ? First plug a xbox pad, enable "gamepad defaults can be remapped" in advanced settings, then ingame: Remap the "onscreen display" function the way you want. That's all friend.

    S.T.F!

Is it already there? Really? Are you sure?

WONDERFUL. I did think it was not present on the current releases...

I was looking for something like "OverClock Options", "InGame Sound Options" and things like that.

So it is hidden under the name of "OnScreen Display"!

Super, man! Thanks for pointing the correct direction.

I will check it later today.

By the way, do you know why I want to make use of this option? With it is possible to modify - on the fly - the sound volume for several channels of a game. Specifically I want to use this settings on BadDudesVsDragonNinja, GoldenAxe, Shinobi and few others. Those games have wonderful music soundtracks but the voices and sound FX are damn too high! BadDudes specially has really noisy voices... and Golden Axe's foes shout crazy "Oooh My God" words all the time.

If I turn up the surround sound volume too much to be able to listen better to the games soundtracks my wife will request a divorce! She hates the "Aaarghs", "Ouccchs", "Banngs" and "Clangs" of most of the games. Ha ha ha ha ha!

    Thanks again!

    Cospefogo.

  5. I wish to know out of the 1000 games what other games you actually play......

I remember a superb game that I used to play a lot on Sega Genesis

and PC Engine. It is one of the all time classics - its name is:

    GAIN GROUND!

However it is not playable in any mame's out there.

    Why, dear God! Why?

    ;)

  6. The ideal solution would to have the ability to hide clones if you wanted to. That way, no roms would have to be removed. Subjective or not, though I tend to agree with you, this emu is sloppy looking as hell because of the many clones. I realize that some people like that, but I think it's an eyesore.

    I am with RessurectionX.

I hate to have in my romlists things like:

    Game Name Version 1

    Game Name Version 2

    Game Name Decrypted

    Game Name Not Decrypted

    Game Name Version 3

    Game Name Version 3b

    Game Name Euro

    Game Name USA

    Game name USA V2 Bootleg

    ...yadda yadda yadda yadda...

I had many trouble and spent a lot of time to clean my FBAXXX 1.28 romset.

I wanted to remove all crappy sport games in first instance (for me the only nice

sport games in the world are Golf and Tennis, the other ones should never get invented!).

I also wanted to remove the hundred versions of Street Fighter games and similar.

And I got stuck when I wanted to remove all the Metal Slug dupes but ended discovering

that I need the original sets even to run the decrypted ones... They are linked together,

    something like that.

Then I tried to run the infamous ClrMame/Romcenter programs to merge

my Metal Slug sets, but I really gave it up the idea. I don't understand those programs.

I am also still using the FBA-XXX 1.28 because when I switched to 1.29 most

of the roms stopped to work, and again, I have no idea of how to correct them.

I am patiently waiting for someone over the 'places' t release a brand new FBA-XXX 1.29 romset.

When this happens, Cospefogo will be migrating! And I really hope that the problem with

setting a different coin button instead of the bundle back setting has been corrected for ever.

Keep up the good work, Kensho!

    Cosme.

  7. I was wondering what you need to edit the gamesave locations of a game. I want to know how to do this so that I can run different builds of mameox without them sharing the same gamesave location. Thanks.

    Here man...

    http://fancyxbox.info/?doc=1&secao=coinops

I do explain how to setup different installs of Mame CoinOPS, but it is

the also same for Mameox128 Plus with one difference... in MameoX 128

you must search for this while hex editing --- 454D414D. Enjoy!

  8. I have two original Sega Saturn pads plugged in the Xbox using the MagicBox Joypad Adapter. It translates original Sega Saturn, Dreamcast & PSX into Xbox language. The only problem with the Saturn pads are --- You have all buttons, except the BACK and the Thumbsticks. Thumbs are not sooo necessary, but back is in some case.

FORTUNATELY, I was able to configure ALL my emus, even MAME to never need the Back button ever. So, the perfect play environment was achieved!!

I also have a original Sega Saturn pad released in Japan specially for PS2. This was a limited series and they DO HAVE the BACK BUTTON equivalent! Wonderful pad.

This pad and the MagicBox adapter are very rare...

I think I was lucky for finding them!

  9. For me, to my person, my very own self, the BEST arcade sticks out there

are the PSX/PS2 sticks from the japanese brand HORI. I used to have many

of them around here, and they never let me down.

    You should buy:

    - One PS2 joypad adapter from the brand MAYFLASH (it really the best)

    - One PS2 arcade stick from the band HORI.

Unfortunately the joypad adapter is SOLD OUT in PlayAsia, the best

place to find it with a very nice price. But I think it is still common enough

to find it on other stores.

About the HORI arcade, you can find in eBay. I recommend you to keep

an eye on this store - Superb Articles From Japan - extremely trust-able,

honest seller, perfect goods, fast shipping, one of my faves! From time to time he carries

on some HORI arcade sticks on nice prices, like $10, $15 USD.

And --- for me, to my person, my very own self, my feelings, my taste - the regular

Xbox S-Controller should be banned from the face of the earth. If you can't find

the Arcade sticks, play with a PS2 controller. It is MUCH MUCH MUCH better

in oldskool systems and arcade games than the bundled Microsoft controller.

  10. Hey man!!!! Sorry but you are having the wrong view of the whole thing! ZYZ are virtual drives, some kind of "virtual caching" drives that are created when you are running things on your Xbox. They are not really there. They use spaces from the real ones CEF for example.

    Cheers,

    Cospefogo.

  11. (...) Someday, hopefully, there will also be a version of MAME that does the same thing since it's THE emulator that needs resolution customization the most. (...)

    Yeah man!

    I also hope for that.

I wish I could be a skilled Xbox developer to create my own crazy-neurotic stuff,

but since this is absolutely NOT the case, I rely on others good will and good sense.

In the meanwhile, let's keep digging alternative paths to reach our favorite places!

    Follow me the brave ones!

    :)

  12. Thanks for the tutorial, pretty ingenious solution to the resolution issues faced in coinops.

I would love to implement this but simply don;t have the time to search out the default res size for each and every of my 1010 roms (ingnite full vers)

Has anyone got any ideas on how to streamline the sorting of the roms into their different categories?

Is there any sort of list other than individual articles on each rom? treid googling but no joy :clapping:

What would really kick ass is if coinops could somehow auto config the correct resolution for every rom when the rom is loaded.

    Hey Spaabck,

I have found a comprehensive list with MAME games and the info about their resolution, but I don't know if it is complete or what. Please check it here:

    http://fancyxbox.info/xtras/mamelist.txt

About your suggestion of having MAME setting up the correct resolution I also thought about that, MameX B6 does that... but, since there are many vertical games and some games that run in weird super wide sizes (Like Darius and that with Ninja guys) this could not be good.

The nice thing could be an option that can be turned ON or OFF.

Example: You can have a global video configuration that will force all games to run under it (like the actual CoinOPS) and a Real Screen Size mode. When the latter is turned ON, Mame will check the size of the game and force the correct resolution for it. If it is OFF, Mame will use the Global settings.

I suggested this to BrutneysPairs already, but I don't know if he will work on that, he seems to not care much about the real aspect ratio of the games, and I understand him, most of the people enjoy the blur and the nasty filtered effects - and - most of the people want 100% of the screen used by the image! People don't like black bars on the sizes (like in a 256 width games).

    Other thing I remember...

A 10x11 Pixel Aspect Ratio could be awesome.

This is also called 720x480 mode in Xport's emulators.

A very USEFUL feature for wider games on SDTVs running in 480i.

    Cheers,

    Cospefogo.
