HappyFishYams Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Well I thought I knew how, but apparently I don't. I downloaded tactics ogre from a site, and when I open it I get Tactics Ogre.bin and Tactics Ogre.cue. I used winiso to convert it to.iso (it gave me some.wav too) and I burnt it with disk juggler 3. I did my thing with the gameshark thing on the back, and put in a cd and stuff, I know that part works cause I've done it before. I'm assuming I did something wrong with the cd burning. If you could direct me to a faq, or just tell me if you want to, I'd be most appreciative . Ty.
ME! Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 use cdrwin or fireburner when you have a bin and cue file. dont use winiso to change it to an iso, cause with some games, mostly new pc games and ps2 games, it wont work. you can get either one at http://www.download.com.
HappyFishYams Posted November 21, 2002 Author Posted November 21, 2002 What's the.cue file? Oh wait you just said that's part of the burning thing, right. Also, it's an old playstation 1 game. I heard someone mention pc isos (or something) so what's that? Could it be one of those?
ME! Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 heres what you do : after installing one of the progs i mentioned, (i recommend fireburner) run it and go to file, and click on import tracks from cuesheet. now, make sure that you have both the cue file and the bin file in the same folder. if you do then just select the cue file and hit open. it will load the bin automatically. then you just write it to cd. easy peasy. as for the ps1 game, if when using winiso, it gives you a wave file after you change the bin into an iso, it means the game is a mixed-mode cd. so basically, you cant use winiso for it. im not sure what you mean by "pc isos". are you talking about a pc game? im lost there. please specify. if you need more help, im always here.
HappyFishYams Posted November 21, 2002 Author Posted November 21, 2002 If it was possible to be TOO helpful, you would totaly be it, man. I dunno what i meant by the pc iso. i think it was like..... you don't burn it, it stays on the hd, and the emulator reads it like it was a cd??? maybe i'm just making stuff up... well anyway, thanks for the info about the.bin and.cue thing, i'll try it in a minute after i dl fireburner. thanks again.
ME! Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 you don't burn it, it stays on the hd, and the emulator reads it like it was a cd??? maybe i'm just making stuff up... no no, your not making stuff up. the emulator epsxe lets you use just an iso on your hd instead of having to have it on a cd. but since its a mixed-mode iso, it wont work. sorry. oh, and thank you for the kind words. anytime you need help, just come back. if im not here, we have many other helpful people here to assist you.
HappyFishYams Posted November 21, 2002 Author Posted November 21, 2002 Alrighty, still more problems (what a suprise). I got fireburner. I open it up and pick the load from cue thing, and it shows three files in the middle box. So i pick burn, and it says continue with test burn using current device configuration? If i say no it goes back and does nothing, if i pick yes it test burns, and ejects the cd. When i put the cd back in, easy cd creator comes up and says hey you got a blank cd, what do you wanna do with it so i hit cancel. I go back to fireburner and..... nothing. It's back where it started. If i pick burn cd, it does a test again and nothing happens. Am i doing something wrong? Well obviously, lol, but what is it . I'm gonna try cdrwin quick.
ME! Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 I got fireburner. I open it up and pick the load from cue thing, and it shows three files in the middle box. So i pick burn, and it says continue with test burn using current device configuration? oops. my bad. i forgot about that stupid thing that it does. ok this is what you do : go to "configiration" and choose "device options". then go to the bottom to the "other" section. uncheck the box for "test burn". after that everything should work ok.
HappyFishYams Posted November 21, 2002 Author Posted November 21, 2002 I unchecked that a while ago, but it still asks if i want to do a test burn. Maybe i got a weird version, or maybe it's cause i dled a crack for it right away. I'll try redownloading it. Oh and i tried the cdrwin or whatever it is too. I pick record disc, and load cuesheet, and an error comes up that says Error: Invalid CUE SHEET command at line 1. Unable to find or open file. But i checked the file with fireburner for corruption and it said it was ok... I tried another game too and cdrwin said that one had the same error. Hmm, well i'm looking under capabilities, and they all say no except for CD-R read... does that mean it thinks my cd drive can't burn? This is annoying. I gotta go to class but i want to keep messing with it . Curse you philosophy, curse you.
ME! Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 I unchecked that a while ago, but it still asks if i want to do a test burn. Maybe i got a weird version, i am such a dumb butt. i forgot to give you the serial for it. im sorry. by the way, what version are you using? i use v2.1.7 of fireburner. let me know what version you are using and i will send you the serial by pm. I pick record disc, and load cuesheet, and an error comes up that says Error: Invalid CUE SHEET command at line 1. Unable to find or open file. either cdrwin is being a jerk or the person that made the file messed up when making the cue sheet. if you want, open the cue sheet using notepad and copy and paste all the text here and i will see if it is correct. but you really dont need to because im sure we will be able to get firburner working for you. Hmm, well i'm looking under capabilities, and they all say no except for CD-R read... does that mean it thinks my cd drive can't burn? this is a possability. depending on what type of drive you have it might not be supported by cdrwin. i think it is if you have an older drive, but dont quote me on that. again, dont worry, we'll get fireburner working. ps-Check Your PM Box.
HappyFishYams Posted November 21, 2002 Author Posted November 21, 2002 Ok this isn't working..... maybe i should just "backup" other games . Do you know how to do that? Would i just make an image from a playstation cd and then burn it on a new cd? I hope so >_<.
ME! Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 sorry it isnt working for you. you may have one of the older drives i was talking about, or your cd burner is just uncompatable for some reason. the next step is trying to find another prog that allows bin and cue burning. one that will work with your cd drive. i will look around. now, if you want to back up, our make copys of ps games you have, i suggest you use nero. since the other two i mentioned dont work with your drive, this would be the next best choice. when using nero, just pop in you playstation cd and make a cd image, or iso to you hard drive. after that, you just burn the iso to cd, again using nero. you can find how-to's online easy. just run a search on google and a million will come up. again, sorry it didnt work for you, but dont lose faith in me. i am determined to see this problem through if you are.
HappyFishYams Posted November 22, 2002 Author Posted November 22, 2002 I have faith in ya . I downloaded suikoden 2, and used fireburner to convert it to iso, and burnt it with diskjuggler and it seems to work fine. Only problem is it's in german, but that's not the burner's fault, lol. I used nero to burn castlevania: symphony of the night which i got from my friend, and i put it in the psx and it doesn't work, but if i use the cd player part of the psx it plays the secret tracks.... also i got epsxe to test it out and that runs the game just fine. I think i probably need a mod-chip. I have a pretty old power replay (it's like a gameshark, goes on the back) that you're suposed to be able to run games with. It ran suikoden 2 fine..... (i like that one, lol). I'm gonna burn some more of his games and try it out. I got 100 cds from best buy for $30, plus a $20 mail in rebate so i'm set for a while. Hey, me! maybe this would be easier if we talked on a chat program thing. I have messenger, icq, and aim if you have any of those. Well anyway, here i go a burning........
HappyFishYams Posted November 22, 2002 Author Posted November 22, 2002 Ok..... so i retryed castlevania again and it worked this time. So sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt.... I burnt vandal hearts 2 which i got online, and that worked sometimes and sometimes not. Castlevania is skippy though, and vandal hearts screws up right away. I dont know if it's the cd, the burner, or the thing on the back. I should definately get a mod-chip.... new burner would help too. *sigh* my burnt dc games work fine. 'Tiz frustrating. Oh yeah i burnt vandal hearts with cdrwin, but when i sat down on the floor i hit it against my laundry basket, so i don't know if that might be why it's skipping (damn i'm clumsy).
ME! Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 hmm...i guess its a hit and miss sort of deal. if you dont mind possably wasteing a cd, just try it with each cd writer prog til you get a working copy. as for a mod chip, you should probably get one. i dont know much about using gameshark or any kind of disk swapping method but since you can get chips for pretty cheap now, its probably a good idea. as for best buy, they always have the best deals (hence the name ). i also got a 100 cd spindle for real cheap from them. they rock! but anyway, its too bad your having all these problems. personally, ive never had any trouble, but i guess im just one of the lucky ones. oh, and if you ever want to reach me on chat, i dont have my client installed at the moment but i will soon, so ill let you know when i do. in the mean time, you are always welcome to reach me by either pm or email. later dude.
