What ever happened to those guys making Zinc?

MAME++ source was released from time to time.

 

But mamedev also demanded that the source of the plugins be released, which is stupid because they are optional, not compiled into MAME++, and as said above, closed source.

 

ZiNc is totally dead but I would love to be proven wrong. But I don't think I will be.

 

This whole episode was just a mamedev tantrum, nothing good came out of it.

R.Belmont and Co. occasionally show some progress pictures of PSX hardware games, but other than that, ZiNc's got no steam and that's a damn shame (no matter what the devs blurt out).

Is there any ZiNc alternative? I remember it being a great emulator. And I remember setting its graphics filters to a great level back then. Those EX street fighters looked great!

There's a reason I won't use MAME anymore.......and the things posted in here outline it. Most of the core MAME team are self righteous ego maniacal bastards.

Unfortunately, no. Unless you consider MAME an alternative, which I highly doubt.
