Rag Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 I've always been too nervous to overclock. Does it really affect performance that much?
Jitway Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 Overclocking is great as long as you have sufficient cooling. It does allow for improved performance. You can get a lot out of certain chips in overclocking some better then others. But you need to keep it cool or it will either not boot up or it will fry. Been there done that...lol.
Shibathedog Posted January 28, 2007 Posted January 28, 2007 i would reccomend the E6400, but if you can afford it get the E6600. Dont bother with the super top of the line processors because you can reach that performance with overclocking. but Toms Hardware has a good guide on how to overclock the super cheap Core 2 Duo for great performance. (thats also a really good motherboard, i would get that motherboard even if you dont plan to do this) http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/18/ove...g-guide-part-1/
