  1. thanks for the info it was helpful, now i understand what's going on here but i don't see me getting this to work.. along with CRCs i also need SHA1 codes, memory address locations, rom regions, and a bunch of stuff. i tried just changing the names of the files and CRCs from the driver for the encrypted version but ofcourse that didn't work. also there are some files that are different filenames. i suppose my best bet is finding the encrypted romsets for which i have the drivers.. but i've looked everywhere already =/ i guess i can try getting gngeo to play them...
  2. yeah i tried renaming it and it didn't work ofcourse. renaming the files don't do any good anyways because mame identifies roms based on their CRC not their file names. however let me get this straight:.bin is usually encrypted and.rom is usually decrypted? so the encrypted ones require the emulator to decrypt them while decrypted ones simply require the emulator to run them? if this is the case i can probably get the roms to run without the drivers.. i want to clear this all up first however (takes a while to compile) also, if i am correct, why are encrypted romsets much larger than decrypted ones? it would seem to me it should be the other way around..
  3. does GnGeo run samurai showdown 5 special and svc chaos and all of the other new roms? i don't think it does.. anyhow GnGeo definately does not work well.. i can't get any rom to load probably because i'm not configuring it properly because i can't find any instructions on how to configure it. i've tried frontends for it but there doesn't seem to be any good ones. perhaps if i spend more time trying i will eventually manage to configure it properly, but i am pretty sure it doesn't support any of the new roms anyways. so instead i found the MAME drivers to run these roms and compiled them into the latest Xmame (the *nix port of MAME) and now i have xmame with support for these roms. now my problem is that i cannot find the right romset for these drivers. these drivers require that the romsets contain *.bin files and i have searched everywhere and can only find romsets for samurai showdown 5 sp, mslug5, kof2003, and svc chaos where all of the files are *.rom
  4. anybody have any idea what emulator i can use to play samurai showdown 5 and snk vs capcom chaos on GNU/Linux?
