  1. OK, I haven't been here in a really long time, but a series of events have transpired that have led me to creating the topic.

It all began last weekend while a few friends of mine, and I, were driving around. As we drove through what a particular neighborhood, I came upon a strange sight...

...A 1982 Zaxxon Arcade Cabinet sitting on the side of the road!

In my initial excitement I beguiled my friends into helping me load the system into the back of my truck and we proceeded to return to my house to plug it in. Imagine our suprise when we discovered that, not only did the monitor work, but the speakers functioned perfectly. The coin mechs, as well as all the buttons and the joystick, work as well.

The only problem that I can see with the system is that during the self-test that I put the system through, as per these instructions, the ORAM has failed.

When I played the game, the background scrolled, the music played, and the controls worked, but none of the moving objects appeared on the screen. This also indicated to me that the ORAM was broken.

Unfortunately I do not know much about arcade cabinets and I am having trouble locating the problematic chips. I figured that some of you guys might have an idea of where I can look and/or what I can do to resolve this issue.

  2. Im looking into reading Sin City, but whenever I go to the bookstore, they are all jumbled around.

What is the order that they are supposed to be read in, or if there is no order, what order do you recomend?

  3. Or Doom/Quake when you get fragged and blown into chunks.  How would they do that? :)

When you get gibbed you feel all tingly and in very much pain for 2 seconds until you respawn. Then you run around with some crazy speed and frag the mutha fukka that gibbed you.

Maybe for Doom/Quake there is an IV that feeds caffine straight into your veins so that you can move really fast.

OH MAN! Berzerker would be so wierd. They put a chemical in your body that makes you go into uber male PMS, or something, and you start screaming and yelling and punching everything in sight.

  4. Im gonna see Batman Begins, Fantastic Four, War of the Worlds, and maybe...maybe...Episode III

The two new star wars have sucked ass. In the first 3, Lucas told the story and enhanced it with special effects. Now that he has almost unlimited things that he can do, he is trying to tell the story with the special effects and ruining three impossible to ruin sequels.

The new Chocolate Factory looks wierd. Jonny Depp makes it look almost scary. I have to say that it looks like Gene WIlder is gonna own him

  5. Funny thing is Doom 3 runs better on my comp than a lot of older games. I'm glad that Xbox finally got a ported FPS that didn't suck... imagine if Doom 3 was first made for Xbox and ported to PC... like Deus Ex Invisible War.... Sick....

The original Deus Ex OWNED! :punk:

    I loved that game

  6. Yeah, I wouldn't buy for the interviews. In the G4 thing, they talk about how they changed the monsters and some of the weapons. They talk about the enhanced graphics most of the time.

As far as G4 goes though, it is one of their better programs

  7. I'm gonna get it this friday. Does the collectors edition cost more than the regular version or is it the same price?

I think it's like $5-10 more than the regular, like Halo 2 CE was. Also, how long are the interviews?

The individual interviews are about 1-2 minutes long, but the disc also includes the entire G4 special. I know that G4 sucks, but John Carmack and the rest of the owners pretty much tell the story.

It's on Xbox so of course the controls suck complete ass.

The controls aren't that bad, as far as console FPS go. The D-Pad functions as a quick-select for 4 weapons. The D-Pad is customizable, so you don't have to cycle through your weapons everytime that you want the BFG.

Oh yeah... the chainsaw absolutley owns.

  8. I just got Doom 3 for Xbox. It is such an awsome game!

The graphics aren't as good as on the PC, but everything else is the same.

Super Turbo Turkey Pucher 3 is the best minigame in any game.

I got the Collector's Edition which contains interviews with John Carmack and the other ID people. It also contains the Ultimate Doom and Doom II

This is one of the best FPS that I have played on the Xbox or anyother console.

  9. Yeah,

if it was a real emulator, someone would have taken a screenshot, resulting in no scan lines.

This one has massive scanlines making me think that someone took a picture of a PSP or something.
