  1. destronger is doing all the developing now on FBL. But I'll comment on some of your requests to give you some idea of where they might stand.

A: It could be done, but it wouldn't be straightforward at all. FBL uses a very specific system of assigning button mappings and personally I wouldn't be inclined to mess with that and risk causing problems for something that essentially makes no difference at all to functionality or useability.

It does make a difference to useability....so much so that i'm still using FBA-XXX 1.28 pro for playing these games in our group. Unless something changed since 1.4, every game has it's own controller settings....there is no over-reaching controller scheme. Our sticks do not match the default settings, so in order to make the sticks useable, we have to go in to each game and fiddle. It is time consuming in comparison to the old way of doing it. Our matches are fast paced, and people are encouraged to bring thier own controllers. Maybe getting the main FBA to support this is the proper way to go?

B: Perfectly possible and not difficult to implement.

C: It's possible but would be time consuming since new UI elements would have to be added to show what filter was currently applied otherwise it would end up a complete mess. I'd question if it's worthwhile since using the filter option from the main menu is more than adequate for most users' needs.

D: Adding a filter of any kind is easy in the source but adding such a capability into the UI isn't something I would have been able to do. You can already create a custom favourites list.

Right, but how many different lists does it support? I miss the functionality of different lists in FBA-XXX where NeoGeo, cps1, and cps2 were all separated. Anyway, the one thing MAME/CoinOps has that i truly wish was here was a multiple list sort/filter option. For UI, i can't imagine this being too difficult, but i haven't worked with the emu internals either. Having the sore/filters in main list make it much more intuitive to use, imo.

As for your final question; I never added anything relating to 'pixel perfect' into FBL because I never really understood it. FBL uses an adaptive system of screen scaling though, so when you switch to another video mode it will retain the same proportions.

I haven't seen this "work" yet. I run the emu in 720p, but i want the games to be scaled from their native resolutions. Instead, FBL is scaling them full (read: stretched out/wide) screen, and i can't find a quick setting to get the aspect ratio right. I have to estimate about how big it should be. Maybe i missed something here?

actually, i am planning on ditching the pr0n completely but more important stuff is in the works right now.

You're planning to remove supported games from FBL?

most likely it'll be a pre-made edited favorites list.

Ugh. Please don't. On the EmuXtras set, pr0n was a separate folder that the end user could choose to add to the main set. This works well. I don't want a default setting censoring or removing games, i want that left to the end user.

I do want to thank you both for your continued work on this emu. I use it for my own personal, casual stuff. I hope it can evolve to a point where we can use it in tournaments as well.

  2. Posting this again in hope of some work on it. I looked through the changelogs and never saw this mentioned:

    Three things:

1: Here is a (probably outdated) list of Pr0n roms from FBL 1.3

I don't use romcenter or anything at the moment so i have no clue as to if these roms are named the same or not now.

2: My old requests still stands i believe, as i did not see anything in the changelog that addresses them. if any of these have been fixed, i apologize.

    A. Control Changing: I'd like to 2nd the opinion/request of someone earlier in this thread. We street fighter players would much rather have a "push the button you want to use for this function" style of control scheme setup, the way FBA-XXX Pro had.

    B. screenshot changing....i'd like a means of changing the screenshots via the X button as there is no right stick on my arcade sticks. Would also like to see a change in screenshot/image every 5 seconds or so. this will help a ton

    C. Filter ability in the main game list. Yes, i know we could access filters from the main menu, but it's counter-intuitive to do a filter listing that way. I'd rather have the main list be filter-able on the fly, especially for games in Final Burn. Our group really likes to be able to filter out the difference between Neo Geo, CPS1, and CPS2 boards quickly for the kind of stuff we do

    D. (this might already be in, but if not i wanted to mention it) The ability to create custom filters on the fly. I'd like to be able to search for games with the words "Street" and "Fighter" and save the search as a filter.

    E. (longshot, but let's try anyway) Networking capabilities, if possible. Not for online play, but more for easy access to download extras. Even a simple FTP server that can run for updates and then when it exits, it relaunches the emu (so it doesn't tie up resources). good if you want to drop out of a game to add screenshots, cheats, or guides. Would be even better if it had the ability to download directly from online resources.

That was all from the earlier 1.2, 1.3, and 1.4 threads.

    3. I could not find a way in 1.5 to have the UI be in 720p but the emu screens to be native/pixel perfect. Did i miss something? I swear i saw it was added...

Big thanks for your continued work. Please help me be rid of FBA-XXX Pro 1.28 forever

  3. Hey +T+!

I have been playing many times last weeks and, at the moment,

    * the only thing * I really miss in FBL is a universal controller setting.

It could be great to be able to set a key config right in the general settings

panel and force all games (that does not have yet their own config)

    to use it as default.

Of course we can adjust the keys, game by game upon "first play"...

Well... This is the only thing I miss.

    Regards,

    C.

maybe this could be done as an Xtras project? i figure, configs for people who use Saturn Pads, Arcade Sticks, Xbox controllers, and the SF Anniversary controllers could all be supported, and via batch could be swapped.

  4. one of the very first xbox related downloads i ever had was a soul calibur mod that had Cheetara from the ThunderCats in it, among others. i have searched far and wide for that disc again, but i never did find it. my original burn of it went bad and i gave the xbox that had it installed to someone a year before i realized it was gone.

would LOVE to see this stuff back in action.

  6. While we're discussing screen sizes, can I just ask everyone a question? Currently FBL uses separate screen size settings for every single game and I've always found it inconvenient having to adjust each game individually to fit my screen, and even more inconvenient having to use approximate values meaning that no two games are ever exactly the same size. I've also never come across a situation where I need a particular game to have it's own separate screen settings.

So my question is this; would it be better to just use a single global screen size setting for all games similar to the system MAMEoX and it's derivatives use? So any changes you make to the screen size are carried over to all games or do people actually use the individual sizes for some purpose? Clearly it would be great to have the option for both but right now I'm interested in which people would prefer if it could be either one way or the other.

i'd like to see a "global" setting and an individual setting. global setting would put everything at a certain "starting point" but would be able to be changed. individual game settings would override global settings.

  7. Something I would like everybody to keep in mind; I'm really not much of a coder. I understand enough to be able to tweak existing code or add new code from other sources even troubleshoot problems but when it comes to coding something from scratch I just wouldn't know where to begin. It's important to me to be open about my limitations from the get-go as (while I do surprise myself occasionally at what I am actually able to do) I wouldn't want anyone to have any false expectations and certainly wouldn't want to be seen as someone that implies I'm capable of things on which I can never deliver.

Also, my primary interest is in the emulation side of things. Drivers, performance, and compatibility updates will always take priority over interface-related changes and certainly in this initial 1.4 release I haven't touched the frontend code at all. That isn't to say I won't in future of course, again I just want to keep everyone up to speed with how things are.

All that being said, for my side of things I will take every request into consideration. I would stress again though that any requests are best saved until after the 1.4 release since they are in danger of being lost here.

i hear you on all of the above. i had been searching for that post for a little while, and only wanted it in here so i didn't lose it again.

  8. This is a "future request" as it took me awhile to find my old message and i don't want to lose it. please ignore for now, and thanks for working on this.

    ----------

Just got this running today. Well done!

    couple of notes/requests:

    1. screenshot changing....i'd like a means of changing the screenshots via the X button as there is no right stick on my arcade sticks. Would also like to see a change in screenshot/image every 5 seconds or so. this will help a ton

    3. Filter ability in the main game list. Yes, i know we could access filters from the main menu, but it's counter-intuitive to do a filter listing that way. 6. (even longer shot) Network matches.

    --------

    this was awesome, thank you

  9. can i get a link to the latest, full version, via pm?

I have been looking for Showroom as a base but i just can't find the full version, and i'm so completely confused by all the name changes that i'm not even sure which one is right anymore. I thought maybe the first page would lead me to either who i need to PM now or what to search for to get the latest full editions, but it didn't help either.

    thanks guys

  10. New problem

My arcade stick can't get into the right click menu anymore. This used to be a problem with Final Burn Alpha Pro 1.28, and what i'd normally end up having to do is overwriting the TDATA for the emulator with proper files, however for some reason i can't find the file that will let me do this. I've actually reinstalled this multiple times at this point.

    Anyone got any ideas?

  11. does anyone here know if it's possible to get this game (jchan2.zip) running on an xbox emulator? i REALLY want to play it, but i don't want to move off the xbox for emulation

none would be the answer because if you take a look at maws.

    http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/

it will tell you that the game was first added in mame 0.89 and mame on xbox is currently at 0.84 but obviously it has had a lot of new gms added thanks to iq132.

so its no for now me thinks.

i was wondering more about FBL. i don't keep up with the PC emulation scene. if it doesn't run on my xbox i probably don't want it....except this. This i want bad.

  12. Good luck getting your fixes in bro. NES is a great guy that gave us a great thing, but he was only really accepting suggestions for fixes between 1.whatever and 1.3. I missed that window myself, even though I could have downloaded it at any time and given my thoughts while beta-testing was happening. I was just too immersed in my own stuff to do it, and regret it now that it's too late to get things done.

Kenshiro is working on fixes and may release 1.4 at some point. All I know about it is that he got some new games working. I don't know if what you're asking for is anything he'd know how to do or even be interested in, but since he's the guy holding the FBL ball now, I'd PM him about it at the other site if he's not available here.

    Later,

    ~Rx

Ack, that's a bummer. Kenshiro still has access to my ftp server, though i don't think he's used it since the FBA 1.29 days.

BTW, i only installed this because of our conversation on X-S yesterday. good looking out, this emu is better in a lot of ways. I really wish it were easier to find complete romsets and such though. feels painful having to rebuild the collection all over again.

  13. Just got this running today. Well done!

  14. If you're anal enough to want this, you should own the real thing. I think the games look better scaled and filtered, by far.

lmao, i do own the real thing, 26 diferent systems and hundreds of games as a matter of fact, just sometimes the blur-vision is annoying on bigger tv's and widescreens especially. I don't feel like lugging around 100 pounds of systems of games and cords and controllers when i go out of town or what-not. That's the best thing about having my xbox, i have 2 huge bins full of nothing but cords and controllers. :thumbsup1:

ive messed around with filters but can't find anything worthwhile, mednafen-xnes in particular, what settings do you guys use to be asking, i've been using simple 2x, with flicker filter of 1 or 0 and point filtering.

Anyways i figured it would be a good read for the people who are interested in it. I'm not too anal just sometimes it's annoying as hell.

    HF-

I always over do the NES filtering...i go advancemame 2x, flicker filter to 0. Sometimes i'll use the 10x11 pixel size. I stay away from Widescreen resolutions.

  15. Kenshiro has uploaded both the beta source and the compiled beta for testers.

It is on my hosting account, at my domain name.

I have no problem with people getting it from this resource, it will make things easier for every one to D/L,

No public requests, please. Kenshiro knows the address and has permission to freely give it to whom he chooses. I do not want to be PM'd requests for the files at this time. If you are a regular distributor, contact Kenshiro for the url. I trust his judgment on who he'd choose to provide it to.

Since he has direct upload access, the latest version will always be up there when he puts them there.

  16. No games have ever been removed on any version of mine ever (just not optimed eg left the same as all the other versions now 1250 games have been optisied).... and hk version misses many many features of coinOPS even though it has many features I dont. 128Meg feature is supported.... screensize aspect ratios is supported in some ways, but I wont ever stretch vertical games (all options have to be put in correctly if im to put them in) Filtering is in as well

You added 128mb back in? This is what i get for being homeless for 5 months.

You're actually still on my msn list, haven't been able to talk to ya yet though. Is the 128mb feature documented, or is it automatic.

    Much props, i stand corrected.

  17. This topic seems pretty dead, but i wanted to chime in anyway....

So, BP has done an AMAZING job of getting an easy to use interface on one of the most complicated programs on the xbox. Out of all the emulators used, FBA-XXX Pro and this get used the most. They are simple, easy to understand, and they work.

I have MameOx 128 on all my machines because i have a 128mb ram upgrade on both. I keep it on there because BP said a year ago that he didn't think it was an option worth keeping. I argued my point on this, but he went forward with that mentality anyway....that it's "bloat" because "most" people don't use it.

I never had much success with MameOX 128. Most of the roms i had with it were missing files, and no one ever released a 100% perfect working gamelist. That should have happened, a LONG time ago....every game that worked on MameOX 128 Plus with 64mb ram and 128mb ram should have been made into dats and released out to the world as a full package.

I like the idea of having an emulator and romset where you KNOW everything is going to work. I like the idea of not having 20 different versions of the same game show up....so long as all the known glitches, fixes and tricks are available on the version that's included

I never liked the idea of games being excluded due to someone's vision. Unplayability is a good reason to remove something, but not personal taste/choice. If there is no easy way to configure controls, get it out of there. Framerate of 5 FPS? unplayable, get it out of there, move it to a list to be fixed later. Pornographic? So What?? If it plays, it should be able to work.

Lastly, options. I'm a BIG fan of options. I'd rather have the ability to adjust everything than not. However, i like that a lot of options have already been taken care of for me in CoinOps....i don't HAVE to configure custom controls to make a game playable...

This doesn't mean i don't want more though....I want to replace MameOX 128 Plus completely. To do so, BP would have to add in all the options and abilities that MameOX has in the Advanced Options mode. 128mb, Screen ratio size, filtering, etc.

I'm sure it would be really easy to re-add all the original options and have it as a MameOX 128 CoinOps fork.
