  1. My new Duo 2 (with 2GHz dual cpu) PC plays Chankast games way too fast... for example SF3:3rd Strike never goes below 80 fps. I have tried to slow it down with SpeedPig, but that does absolutely nothing. I also tried using the +/- keys on the numberpad, but all that does is change the CPU usage, the framerate doesn't actually change. How can I slow the game down to 60 fps?

  2. I'm back again. So here's the big question: does anyone here actually have KOFXI working in PCSX2? Or is this just a "theoretical possibility"? Every site I go to people say "oh yeah, that game probably won't run in PCSX2" but nobody has actually confirmed whether it will or wont. Again, I almost got it...I got to the SNK-Playmore screen, and then it just goes black. The framerate is VERY high (over 90fps most of the time). So if this game really does work in PCSX2, what needs to be done at this point?

  3. The only plugin that works is EFP...linuzzapps and PEOPS give me an error. I don't think anyone actually understands what I'm trying to get at here...I *CAN* open PCSX2, it works fine. But there's no option to open the game itself. Even if I go to the file itself and open it, the same thing happens--the browser opens with the config screen, but no game.

  4. I don't care about framerate at the moment... Anyway I have the correct BIOS, I never get an error about that. I DO go to "run .elf file" and that just brings up the config screen. That's all I'm trying to figure out...how do I get past the config screen? It's as if it doesn't detect any game. (And yes, KOFXI is compatible with PCSX2t, even if the framerate is terrible)

  5. I haven't tired the new version, but I suggest avoid playing this (and any other 2d fighter) on PCSX2. Due to it being choppy as hell.

Also you have to format the PS2 cards to use em. Try that.

I did format it. But how do you get to the actual game? Forget the fact that it's a fighting game...how do I open a game??

  6. Do most modern graphics cards support shading 2.0? Or do I need a specialized one?

My graphics card came with my computer so most modern graphics cards support shading 2.0! :clapping:

My graphics card is Radeon X300 with only 64 MB of RAM and it runs PCSX2 and KoF XI just fine on it!

Well it looks like I'm SOL. I have a laptop and can't replace the graphics card, something I didn't realize until someone at a store told me so. So I guess I can't play KOFXI on my pc at all :(

  7.

    Graphics:

**I tried all of these and none of them work, I get various error messages**

    Cdvdrom:

**I tried all of these and none of them work, I get various error messages**

    Bios:

    Europe v02.00(14/06/2004) Console

I even tried your exact setup, but it doesn't work. I get that same error message "Error loading C:\Emulators\PCSX2\kof11-gant.iso" and then I get the error "Error opening CDVD Plugin" afterward.

That is very interesting; it looks like it may have something to do with the configuration of the graphics or the CDVDROM.

How are you starting PCSX2; are you choosing the standard one or the TLB (non VM)?

    Are you choosing File--->Run CD?

I am starting PCSX2 by selecting the one that does not ask you to enter your name for physical memory purposes, because that isn't working. I pick the one that says PCSX2t, not the regular PCSX2.

I choose both File>>Run CD and Run>>Execute, neither works. After messing with the configs, and doing a "test" for each config setting, it looks like it comes down to a graphics problem. In the graphics mode, I have selected ZeroGS KOSMOS 0.95.2, and it says it is working properly, but I get the error message "Error opening GS Plugin." The other one (GSdx9) says it is NOT working properly, and when I try to run the game with it I get the error "Supported pixel shader is too low! Supported: 0.0, Selected: 2.0." So that's where I'm at right now.

  8. Mine is also 2.36. My main question is, what format did you make the .iso to play it? Seems almost obvious that's the main problem.

It's a standard ISO image file. It looks like the problem may be the PCSX2 configuration. Could you give me your PCSX2 configuration here like I did on page 2 of this topic?

    Here's my config setup:

    Graphics:

**I tried all of these and none of them work, I get various error messages**

    First Controller:

    SSSPSX PAD Plugin 1.6.0

    Cdvdrom:

**I tried all of these and none of them work, I get various error messages**

    Usb:

    USBnull Driver 0.4.0

    Sound:

    P.E.Op.S. SPU2 D Sound Driver 1.4.0

    Second Controller:

    SSSPSX PAD Plugin 1.6.0

    Dev9:

    DEV9null Driver 0.3.0

    FireWire:

    FWnull Driver 0.4.0

    Bios:

    Europe v02.00(14/06/2004) Console

I even tried your exact setup, but it doesn't work. I get that same error message "Error loading C:\Emulators\PCSX2\kof11-gant.iso" and then I get the error "Error opening CDVD Plugin" afterward.

  9. Here's my bios:

    SCPH-70004_BIOS_V12_PAL_200.EROM (3 MB)

    PS2 Bios 30004R V6 Pal.MEC (4 bytes)

    scph39001.MEC (4 bytes)

    PS2 Bios 30004R V6 Pal.NVM (1 kb)

    scph10000.NVM (1 kb)

    scph39001.NVM (1 kb)

    SCPH-70004_BIOS_V12_PAL_200.NVM (1 kb)

    SCPH-70004_BIOS_V12_PAL_200.ROM2 (512 kb)

Thing is, I'm actually getting past the BIOS part of this. Now I can't load the ISO, probably because it's in the wrong format.

  10. The CD image is compressed and split into multiple archives. Get WinRAR and open the first archive with it. Extract the contents (the actual CD image I assume) to a folder and subsequent volumes (the other split archives) will follow suit automatically.

It would help if you'd tell me what file(s) the first part contains exactly.

I'll let you know after I get home from work. Thanks for your help so far.

Alright I extracted the ISO and mounted it on VirtualDaemon. I also configured the BIOS directory in PCSX2 to point to the right folder. What do I do next? I have to convert it to .elf or another format, correct? Because when I try to play the game I get "error loading C:\emulators\pcsx2\kof11-gant.iso." I also get "error opening CDVD plugin."

  12. Either Zip or RAR the entire image or leave it uncompressed. Most PCSX2 CD/DVD plugins work with both. Preferably in a known CD/DVD image format or the the ELF.

Expect that your machine can't give you "reasonable" framerates, depending on what your definition of reasonable is. I don't use PCSX2 so I'm not the one to ask for detailed instructions.

    The rough outline is:

    1. Mke sure you have a graphics plugin for PCSX2. Configure the GPU plugin if need be.

    2. Same with the Audio, Controller plugins, etc.

    3. Make sure you have a valid PS2 BIOS that's in the Bios folder. Make sure you select the BIOS when you go through the configuration window.

    4. Configure the CD/DVD plugin to work with the image you have.

    5. Run the emulator, hope for the best.

OK...so if I leave the game uncompressed how do I open the game? It's in 43 "pieces" so wouldn't I have to zip it regardless? Also, how do I turn it into an image format? Do you mean something like .nrg?

  13. Get WinRAR and extract the split archive with that. The .SFV (Simple File Verification) file is only used if you want to verify that the archives have no been tampered with nor corrupted in some other way. It's in no way a crucial file. Google for an SFV Checker if you want to use it.

All the files were already split up when I downloaded them. Do I need to zip them back up? And am I supposed to load .elf files only? Or do I create a virtual disc of the .rar archive and load the virtual CD? And when I try to do that, it says it can't use the bios, which I DO have in the bios folder. (They could be corrupt, I suppose)

I get the sense that using PCSX2 is not easy, so if you could provide very clear instructions, start to finish, for playing the game I would be extremely grateful. I should first mention that I have a 2.66 GHz CPU, so hopefully that'll be fast enough for a "reasonable" frame rate. Feel free to e-mail me if you wish at schw0373@hotmail.com. Thanks a million- Scott
