I have downloaded and been playing Beatmania (bm1stmix) and Beatmania 4th Mix (bm4thmix) in MAME 0.82, and the graphics and music look and sound great.

However, when I press a key to create a sound in sync with the scrolling notes, I notice a few milliseconds delay before the key input is recognized by the game, causing all the keystrokes to be off sync with the music. This makes all the levels quite unplayable, as Goods and Misses are awarded instead of Greats. In the arcades, I do not have this problem, as the arcade keystrokes appear onscreen instantaneously. Also it is more apparent in bm1stmix than in bm4thmix.

Does anyone else have this problem who plays this game, and know why it happens? Is it MAME or the ROM? It is very hard to notice unless you play at the arcades often enough to notice the slight millisecond delay. Is there any way to edit the mame.ini to counteract against this effect?

Well, what are your specs? Secondly, the timing might be off in MAME, even if it's just milliseconds.

I like to torture them to the point that they cry like the little lillies that they are, until the pain is too much for them to handle.... so much that they would try to choke on their own blood in an attempt to end their own sorry lives. That's when I would stop and peel back his eyelids and force him to watch his daughter and wife jump from a 100 story building into the concrete. After they splatter into the ground I would wipe the blood off his eyes so that he can see his father crushed under a 2 ton limestone block. Then watch his mother suffocate from lack of oxygen while clinging on to her husband's leg... the only thing left of his tattered carcass she can recognize. Just as her eyes roll into the back of her head I would smash his teeth into the curb, strip him of all his belongings and watch him struggle to regain his sanity.
