  1. I just recently got a new computer, and have been loading it up with ROMs and stuff. However, it seems the EmuSoCrax MAME client (always my favorite, it supported TONS of games) no longer exists. Their site now only has the official MAME builds for download.

Would anyone be willing to send me the final build of theirs, or is there another decent build out there? I need one that supports newer games, I'd like to play the newer KoF's and such.

  2. I've wanted to play this again for the longest time. So after finding an Amiga emulator, stumbling around in the GUI and getting it to work, I got it to run the game.

Problem is, the game has this silly protection, where it shows a tire tread, and you have to match it with one in the manual. Great. And there's over 30 pages to choose from, so it's not a simple trial and error.

So, is there a fix for this, or some way to bypass the protection? I'd love to play this game again.

  3. I've never really been a big GT fan. and I gave it plenty of chances, I owned all of them including the gt 4 teaser. I guess I am just not fast or furious enough.  :clapping:  I would like a GT type game with all old muscle cards and hot rods. not just a token mustang or vette.  :D I wanna build and drag a rodded shoebox ford, or a chopped '32 5 window coupe. that soulds like a game I'd never get bored of.  :banghead:

The thing is, GT is a road racing game, not a drag racing game, and those cars you mentioned aren't exactly road racing cars (I could imagine an old like that having serious cornering issues). Plus, Gran Turismo hasn't jumped into the visual modifications on cars yet (except for wheels) so it'd be kinda hard to chop a car, regardless.

I'm looking forward to it. Shame it isn't online (and yes, I know about XLink, but I don't really count that).

  4. Look At It Agian, The NeoGeo Has 3 A 3 Row Button, And 1 Button That Is Half Way Under The First Button, And Thats Is How A Neogeo Panel Looks Like. It Is Just A Capcom+NeoGeo+2 Buttons Game, Stick.

That's still not as correct as the sticks GK posted. Sure, it'd work, but the others would feel more like a real MVS.

    MVS

    PS-Neo.jpg

    NeoGeo Prostick (not quite correct)

    PS.jpg

10-button Prostick (almost better than the NeoGeo Prostick, though still not correct)

    video-X-Arcade.jpg

X-Arcade (more incorrect than the other two)

  5. Well if Your Going To Get The 10 Button, You Might As Well get The X-arcade And When Playing NeoGeo Games, Just Ignore Some Buttons.

The problem with the X-Arcade is, as I said, it doesn't have 4-button rows. It has 3-button rows, like Capcom fighting games. The Neo Geo had a single 4-button row though, so in order to replicate the NG, you need a stick with 4-button rows.

  6. SlickDizzy, you MUST play the System Shock games. They are very good. Unfortunately my SS2 CD is scratched and it can't read an audio file so it can't install...piece of crap.

I think I will sometime. If I can find them used I might pick them up, if not there's always BitTorrent.

Have you heard about BioShock, the new game? It's not supposed to be a sequel, but is a "spiritual successor" to the first two, which I know very little about.

  7. I still think Perfect Dark has the best balance between gameplay, depth, and control (for a console at least, try it using PJ64 with a keyboard/mouse).  If only the framerate was better...

Nowadays im starting to regress to shooters that are more twitch-based and less strategy-based, like Painkiller or Serious Sam.

Believe it or not, I never played Perfect Dark. I do remember it being somewhat of a pain to play FPS's with the N64 controller, though.

I still think that doing day-to-day errands (albeit with a flocked up twist) and having the power to urinate in someone's face, or douse someone in gasoline and light them on fire, or throw a diseased cow's head in their direction makes the most entertaining possible premise for a video game. The errand where you had to vote was hilarious, the ballot made me laugh so hard....

But enough about that. Counter Strike is arguably one of the worst FPS's out there, yet I was addicted to it for about 2 years. Same with Unreal Tournament, though that was a bit more notable. Giants: Citizen Kabuto, though not a FPS (still technically a shooter) is probably the second most addictive game I've ever played. Shame that it never really caught on, especially the online part of it. It was great fun. :P

  8. (off topic, but does anyone remember the Halo of old? From back when Bungie was a Mac-exclusive publisher, and it was looking like one of the most revolutionary games out there? Shame that the released game was NOTHING like the early versions....)

(off-topic part 2: any Marathon fans here?) :)

    /me raises hand

I remember all that Halo could have been but never was. Watching that first MacWorld (or was it E3?) video was spectacular. Then the news came that it was going to be an FPS and then that it would be an XBOX exclusive.

And I am a Marathon fan. One of my friend's had a Mac so that was awesome.

First picture of Halo ever from 1999:

    *sniff*

I would say "Ah, the beginnings of a great series..." but it's really more like the beginnings of an overrated and mediocre FPS that isn't much fun...I'd rather play Postal 2, for instance, any day of the week.

I wish there was an early playable build of Halo out there somewhere, I'd be all over it like Elaine on an opportunity to dance...with the little kicks and the thumbs and everything.

I should fire Marathon up again...

There was NEVER anything at all revolutionary about Halo, in the beginning or the final release. But I like your "overrated and mediocre FPS that isn't much fun" sentence. That pretty much sums up how bland Halo is.

Well, revolutionary might have been a bit of an exaggeration, but for 1999, it was looking pretty damn cool. Plus, IIRC, the game seemed to have some real-time strategy elements involved as well (I remember a demo movie where you saw Master Chief directing his comrades to do things).

But regardless, it turned out to be just another FPS. I'm just glad they didn't use the Marathon title on it; it would be blasphemous.

  10. The PS2 can't handle it.

That, and Bungie is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft still made money when Halo was ported to PC and Mac, rather than porting it to the PS2, an absolute direct competitor. The Xbox already suffers from less-than-great sales, so why ruin it ALL by porting one of the few extremely good Xbox exclusives?

If you go by that logic, Xbox users should get Gran Turismo 4. Grand Theft Auto was done by a third-party who would make money regardless of what it was ported to.

    EDIT:

I bet it could. I wouldn't be suprised if the N64 could handle it. There is nothing special about it.

The Ps2 could "handle it" in a way. It would either be completely unplayable with a frame rate of 1-2 per second, or it would be bogged with so much loading that the game would become worse than Stuntman...

As far as gameplay, it's nothing special, but the graphics are woth noting, and that's the part the PS2 would have trouble with...

  11. I'm wanting to buy a nice PC arcade stick setup for MAME and other emulators and such, and I was looking at the X-Arcade, but it only has 3-button rows (which are great for everything BUT Neo-Geo games). Does anyone know of a good arcade stick with 4-button rows so it'd feel like playing an actual MVS?

  12. That's my point besides Lynn and Jimmy's bgms the others are extremely stupid; No fight bgms whatsoever in this game; where's the feeling wanting to kick the crap outta the enemy sprite with that moronic tune playing; yes the lyrics are funny but only the first-second time you hear them, then they annoy the living krud outta ya...

I thought the music in Chinnen's stage was awesome, then again I'm a eurobeat fan so I'm biased.
