Well, upon downloading SS5S, and reading this post to help me get it all working, and indeed enjoying the fatalities albiet with messed up sound, I decided to do some hunting on Winny (A Japanese P2P client)

Well getting to the point, I managed to find a video of all the death moves performed in samsh5sp WITH fully working sound, and I have downloaded several samsh5sp roms, one of which contained a 272-m1d.bin rom.

Now I'm no expert on neogeo emulation but I remember reading somewhere that what was needed to fix the sound problem was a proper decrypted m1 rom, and I assume this is what m1d means.

So I try booting up the rom, changing one line in my dat to:

[Z80]

272d-m1d.bin,0,20000,18114FB1,0

It appears to have made some characters have slightly more accurate sound, but it's still not perfect, however I assume I'm on the right track here, and I know there is a working sound rom out there since I saw the video of each characters death blow performed all with proper sound.

I'd like to discuss this matter further, I tried to join IRC but for some reason my address was banned? (ISP is tht.net, feel free to unban it)

Cheers

Bakou

While your post is very intriguing, I have to ask this: Are you sure that the video you saw was taken from an emulator running the game or from and arcade cabinet of some sort?

the second thing I need to ask is: If you'd zip up the M1d rom that you have, what's the compression ratio of it? (with normal compression)

You should get CRCs instead. Compression ratios are highly variable.

Not really when it's about decrypted rom images, but whatever.

I think this is the rom we need to find

272-m1d.bin 512k CRC: 74F37225

allso the MVS has been released so there should be another dump of this game soon maybe.
