Yes it did. The PS2 had the slightly stripped PS1 hardware in the lower portion of the machine.

If they are going to release a PS1/PS2 emulator, aren't we the lucky one?? :unsure:

what are you talking about? he meant in the ps3

I thought they are going to release a PC emulator for the system :)

From what I heard, Sony has gathered a lot of people to actually write a PS1 and a PS2 emulator as a part of PS3's kernel. If that's the case, the PS3 does not have the actual hardware of the older systems, like the PS2 did.

Then, if this is the case, you can only play DVD Games, not DVD movies. This spells trouble for Sony. Hopefully, they will somehow get some sense knocked into them to include SOME sort of DVD playback.

they'll add dvd movie options without a doubt. when ps2 came out in japan, the dvd player option is what sold them since at the time dvd players there were expensive so that made many japanese ppl happy (untill you find out the first models actually suck but oh well :unsure: )

the japanese launch ps2's actually had more problems with DVD playback than american and european ps2's

true but at least they were able to play other region dvd movies :lol:
