Classic Doom On Nightmare Difficulty

Recommended Posts

After I beat DN3D again, I'm going to do the speed runs. But I'm actually in the mood the play Duke Nukem 2, one of the greatest side scrollers ever. I wonder if there is a Win32 port of that game otherwise I'll have to use DosBox (which I have installed but never used).

Nope. Both Duke Nukum 1 and 2 are DOS only. No cookie for you and DOSBox punishment.

Argh! No DosBox!! And it's Nukem, not Nukum.

The very original releases were named 'Duke Nukum', but 3D Realms changed them later to match Duke Nukem 3D.

The very original releases were named 'Duke Nukum', but 3D Realms changed them later to match Duke Nukem 3D.

He name was always Nukem but changed to Nukum for v2.0 of Duke Nukem I because of some alleged copyright issues.

Look what I found on the 3DRealms FAQ:

There is frequently a great deal of confusion over the correct spelling of one

of Apogee's most prized characters, Duke Nukem.  The original spelling for the

name was "Duke Nukem"; however, during the code fix stage between v1.0 and

v2.0 of the original game, Apogee found a character overseas named "Duke

Nukem" that was thought to be copyrighted.  So, for v2.0 of the original Duke

game, the name was changed to "Duke Nukum."  Then, during the programming of

Duke II, it was discovered that the character they found overseas was not

copyrighted after all -- and so the original name was reinstated.  "Duke

Nukem" is also the spelling used in all successive games that featured the

character.

The spellings "Duke Nuke 'em," "Duke Nuke'um," "Duke Nuke'm," "Duke Nuk'em"

and other variations are not, and were never, correct.

And this:

The correct spelling of the game is "Duke Nukem."

I've seen a video where some guy beats Doom 2 on nightmare(or Ultra-Violent, don't remember, both are still as hard as fighting against a brick wall) in 14.41 minutes.

It would be even greater if you'd provide a link.

Demos and others can be found here

http://www.geocities.com/e6y/doom.html

Unlike the Quake 2 Done Quick with a Vengence, which had runners. Doom 2 beaten in 14.41 Minutes was done by 1 person.

Have you guys checked out the wallpaper section of that site?
