Need some advice

Hiya boys and girls,

I'm hoping that you all can give me some information/advice on some hardware upgrades I'd like to make.

The first thing I guess I need is a better power supply... I don't think this 250w one is going to quite cut it.

I suppose my question is -- what's a decent power supply for dirt cheap (think homeless guy eating out of a dumpster cheap) and are all power supply units for ATX towers universally compatible? Can I just swap any out and they will fit?

My next question is what's the best pci-e card I can get for less than $80US? I'm not looking for something that's going to absolutely rock Crysis' socks, I just need something that's vastly better than my sh!tty old geforce fx 5200 256mb PCI (not PCI-e).

For the Video card, i found a good Deal on this 8800GS

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...-L0C-_-14130332

$91 USD after using this promo code

EMCAJCGBG

Then it comes out to 61 dollars after the Mail In Rebate.

And no, that 250 wont cut it very much longer. For my computer, i bought a 650, but heres a good 550 which should be fine for a budget PC

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...-L1D-_-17103941

$70 USD after Promo Code

EMCAJCGCH

Both of those are Free shipping

If you're looking to go cheaper(Which im not too fond of doing for PSUs)

Heres a 500W

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16817148010

$54USD. Comes out to 34.99 after Mail in rebate. But has a 10 dollar shipping fee.

Lol. I thought I was the only one with one of those left :clapping:

A 450W should be sufficient for your needs. They were also a lot easier to find cheaper relative to anything 500W+ for some reason. By all means go 550/650 if you can make the stretch.
